Bullies in Need

This morning Mommy and I decided to go for a nature walk! It was a really nice day, so we grabbed Daddy's camera and headed outside, where I took photographs of mushrooms, leaves, some squirrels, and other things. We had a lot of fun, and we all have to admit - my photos came out pretty darned good!

School was fine - not much for me to report there (we learned some funny news songs and stuff). After it was done, I was pretty determined to help Mommy make dinner and tidy up a little bit, seeing as how the folks from Bullies in Need were coming over.

Sarah and Patti brought a lovely and happy little pit bull named Mowgli over - he was great and thought I was really fun (as did Patti and Sarah). We all have to admit... it was really lovely to have a dog in the house again. We all had a great get-to-know-you session!

Heel-Toe

This morning I was goofing off at home instead of getting ready for school, so Mommy had to have words with me. She brushed my hair in anticipation of picture day, which made me whiny, and then I drank a glass of water while sobbing, and I dropped it, making it smash, making me scream, which got me sent to my room. Mommy and I talked it out, but were late for school (especially considering that we had to go back home to get my gym shoes, which I forgot). I was upset that I wouldn't be on time for school and able to take attendance (because I was scheduled to be the special helper) - once we arrived, I discovered that the class was empty as all the students went to the gym for picture day. This caused another breakdown. Mommy took me to the gym and stood by while I had my picture taken, and left when she saw that I was with my friends. I got to be the special helper after all.

After school Mommy picked me up and then we got a ride to my first-ever tapdance class! I was twice the size of all of the other little kids, except for this one kid named Isis who I became fats friends with. We learned 'heel-toe' and 'toe-heel'.

Once THAT was done, we came home, had a really quick dinner, and then I went with Mommy back to school for her Home & School association meeting. I waited in my classroom - most of my other best friends were there, too. There was a babysitter there for us - upon hearing the term "babysitter" though, I expressed some concern. Why would someone be paid to sit on babies?!

Phew. What a busy, dramatic, up-and-down day.

Tappy Tappy

Yesterday Mommy and Daddy bought me a new pair of tap shoes, seeing as how I start tap dancing lessons tomorrow. Of course, the first thing I did when I woke up this morning was put them on. Mommy was able to put up with about two hours of tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy tappy before pleading with me to take the shoes off.

School was fine - despite my cold (which is much better today) I managed to have some fun, but was somewhat miffed that I didn't get to stick around afterward to play on the playground in the rain.

I watched a movie with Mommy when I got home, and then visited Gammy and Grandpa in the late afternoon before dinner. Daddy and I were gonna watch some TV together, but I ditched him to play video games.

Mall Crawl

Darnit - I'm sick. So sick, in fact, that I barely slept last night... and crawled into bed with Mommy and Daddy, and kept them from sleeping, too. I think I may have also made Daddy sick - the jury's still out on that one. After the sun rose I went to Gammy and Grandpa's place to watch the F1 race with them.

Once we had eaten some lunch, Mommy and Daddy and I headed out to run some errands... we hit various malls in the area in order to look for Hallowe'en costume elements (for Daddy and I) with mixed success. I got to have a snack, but seemed to run out of steam as the afternoon dragged on.

Once we got home I watched a movie on television and tried to relax, having digested some vitamins, couch drops, and juice. Mommy made an absolutely perfect batch of chicken noodle soup, which we all really loved.

The Enemy of Popcorn Jr.

Today was my carefully planned 'Daddy/Daughter Day'! Once Daddy was out of bed and ready to go, we drove Mommy to the garden and then carried onward to Fairview, where we hit up the Spring Rolls for a delicious Dim Sum lunch. We had a nice conversation, ate lots of food (I especially loved the fried squid tentacles) and dealt with a pretty clueless waitress.

I had to pee a lot at the mall for some reason... but was with Daddy, so I got a tour of four different men's rooms at the mall. We did some window shopping and then went to a movie - I can't say I liked it very much. I was talkative, fidgety, and after I spilled my popcorn - kinda upset. It didn't help that I got popcorn stuck in my teeth. Mommy calls herself 'The Enemy of Popcorn' for a reason, I guess.

We got some bubble tea before heading home, where I was very happy to see Mommy. Nuthin' against Daddy or anything. I just missed her.

Happy Birthday, Nana!

I didn't get to see Daddy before I went to bed last night, so I was really happy to see him this morning. I casually suggested that maybe he and I had a Daddy/Daughter day tomorrow... so I spent the better part of the day making pretty ambitious plans for the two of us!

School was fine - there was the small matter of some drama with my nemesis, but my Mommy spoke to her Daddy. Hopefully things get taken care of. I talked to Nana on the phone and sang 'Happy Birthday' to her.

I watched a cool movie with Mommy in the afternoon, and we had a bunch of leftovers for dinner. Daddy came home to discover some cool drawings I did during the day, including a picture of a little girl feeding carrots to bunny rabbits, and a drawing of a man (wearing a tie) and a woman on a date.

No Ys

Today was a pretty uneventful and quiet day. Mommy and I had a pretty average morning, followed by a pretty average day at school. My regular teacher wasn't at school (she seems to have caught that flu big that's been going around), so we had the same supply teacher that we got on the first day of school this year.

Mommy usually sneaks sweet little notes into my snack bag for school, so I decided to write her one in return, which was pretty cool - even if I didn't have a snack to accompany it for her.

At dinner, Mommy finally made good on her promise to make me alphabet soup (which features prominently in the plot of one of my favourite TV shows). Only... we couldn't find any gluten-free alphabet noodles - just the letter 'O'. I enjoyed it, but mentioned that I wished the soup had other letters in it besides 'O'. Specifically, 'Y'.

Class Clowns

No television for me today. I did play some video games and stuff, but Mommy kept me busy by doing activity books and reading with me. I didn't seem to mind! I also did a lot of playing in my room and visiting with Ursula and my Grandparents and stuff.

School was fun - I played with my new friend Brandon afterwards. He's small, but really fun. He likes to play Super Mari Bros, which is fine with me... Mommy's always nervous that I'm gonna crush him or something because I'm so much bigger.

After school today was 'Curriculum Night' - my parents and I went over to the gym for a presentation from the principal, and then went to my classroom to listen to a presentation from the teacher. I wasn't into it - but that's okay, because neither was Daddy. He and I goofed off in the corner the whole time like a couple of class clowns.

Forecaster

This morning while I was visiting with Gammy, we discussed the weather. She told me that the weathermen said it was gonna be hot & sunny today. Seeing the clouds, I mentioned that I thought it would rain. As soon as I said the word "rain", it started raining. So amazing! I was then reported to have remarked "Pretty soon, the weathermen will call me for the forecast."

The day was good. Mommy and I went to the market - I was thrilled to see that the apple cider (and the free samples of apple cider) are back. School was good, too - we had gym class and went to the library. Afterwards, Claire and I played one of our favourite games - 'Terry Fox Run', where we both run all over the place and get tired out.

In the afternoon I spilled milk and freaked out, but Mommy snapped me out of it. I was extra huggy with her today.

Fluttering About

Daddy was home sick today! Yay! It didn't stop him from working, unfortunately, which meant that he kept hogging the computer while I was busy trying to play video games and stuff. Oh well... I watched more than my usual fair share of television, instead.

I wore my rainbow patchwork tights, one of many colourful and bright green shirts my Mommy made for me, my pink sneakers, and my homemade rainbow wings to school today. Everybody commented on how colourful and happy I looked (especially with my pink backpack) as I fluttered about the schoolyard. Speaking of school, today we got to meet Amber, our new class helper, and we got to see some snails.

After school I watched some more television, did a lot of playing in my room and outside (it was a lovely day) and kinda went to bed a little early due to my being insanely wound-up.

Seaton Trail XV

I went and visited with Grandpa this morning while Mommy and Daddy went to the butcher to pick up some food - including some delicious smoked salmon, which I had for lunch. Pretty awesome! Then we all drove out to the Seaton Trail (actually the southernmost section, which we haven't hiked before), where we met up with Lisa and Leo and Matt and Pugsley!

We all had quite a nice walk - we managed to walk for about an hour or so, all in all. There were lots of dogs along the route - we were very happy to see them. I was especially cuddly with Lisa, and played really well with Leo.

On the way home, we hit up a mall in Markham, where I bought a new pair of boots and some other odds and ends. Once we got home, Daddy started feeling kinda ill, but we managed to have dinner and a campout in the back yard! We had marshmallows over a fire and everything. Mommy's pretty awesome for putting that together.

Gathering of the Jonagolds

I spent the better part of my morning trying to get my parents out of bed so that they would feed and entertain me. Poor Daddy - last night's jog really seemed to take a bit out of him.

Once we were all up and got some lunch into us, we decided to do some apple picking. The highways were a little congested, however, and the drive out to Orchalaw Farms took us about ten times longer than usual! The Jonagold apples were especially perfect for picking this time. We made sure to get lots.

We stopped at the Apple Factory on the way home for some snacks, and then - once again - were stuck in paralyzing traffic on the way home. I kept the complaints to a minimum, though. Once we were home, I was happy to play some video games while Mommy made dinner and Daddy passed out on the couch.

Scary Face Practice

I played some reading games with Mommy this morning - the incentive chart that she made for me (where I get stickers for reading well) is pretty cool!

There's a house up the street that scares me every Halloween (due to its awesome decorations). For the past few days, I've been practicing walking past it - I also practiced making scary faces... something that clearly continued all throughout my day at school, because when Mommy came to pick me up afterwards, I had somehow corralled all of the other kids into making scary faces, too. Claire and I played 'Terry Fox Run' before we went home.

I commandeered the dinner menu tonight - Mommy happily obliged and made a fantastic chicken noodle soup from scratch, which we all really enjoyed!

Fidgety Waiter

It poured with rain for most of the day! Not that I was planning to do a lot outside or anything, but the rain kept Mommy and I stuck inside. She got a headache - I tried to play restaurant with her, but she just sounded so exhausted... it kinda put me off the whole thing.

School was pretty good - we cleaned up a big mess we made in the classroom, and I got to have gym class. That was pretty much all I had to report about school today.

On the way home, Mommy and I jumped in an out of the rain puddles together, making up for our feeble attempts at playing restaurant earlier. Jumping in puddles is more fun than pretending to be a waiter. A really fidgety waiter.

The Cheese Stands Alone

The other day Daddy brought home some props from his recent commercial shoot, including a stuffed giraffe (which I named 'Oliver' and like to dress up in pretty dresses) and a small lunchbag. Mommy's made me several cool lunchbags in the past, but I was pretty jazzed to have a store-bought prop for a lunchbag.

School was cool. We had music class today (how great is it that I get to have a regular music class?! In a public education system?!), where we all sang "The Farmer In the Dell." My favourite line in that song is "The Cheese Stands Alone", and I sang the HECK outta that line.

I was a little bit touchy in the late afternoon and before dinner... little things that shouldn't have been setting me off were making me cry at the drop of a hat. I must've been tired from dancing at school or something.

The Code of Conduct

Mommy and I went to the local farmer's market this morning - nothing out of the ordinary for a Tuesday morning. We can home, had a lovely lunch, and then I was off to school.

Yesterday I brought home a copy of the school code of conduct, rules and regulations, and all of that sort of thing. Mommy and I went over it together, and I made sure I asked all the right questions and understood what 'being respectful' and 'not vandalizing' stuff means. Not coincidentally, one of the new JK kids and I smacked into each other in the playground - she was smaller, so she kinda went flying. I picked her up, checked her for cuts or scratches, made sure she was all right, and sent her on her way. Mommy told me that I did the right thing by making sure the little girl was okay. I told her that I was just doing what the rules we went through said I should do!

Mommy made a delicious corn and red pepper soup for dinner, but didn't tell me what was in it (because I don't like red peppers). I loved it!

Doll Dressup

I snuck into bed with my folks pretty early this morning. In the morning, I planned to take all of my toys outside for a big picnic, but got kinda distracted from that by the need to change all of their clothes. Mommy loves that I regularly dress all of my dolls and toys and stuff.

School was pretty awesome today - we made a huge mess in the classroom (Mommy isn't sure what I mean by that, but believes it has something to do with art stuff). I brought lots of awesome pictures home.

Mommy and I went to the toy store and bought an incentive chart (I tried to get away with buying more toys, but no dice) to encourage my reading (which is coming along really well). I visited with my Grandparents, and then after Daddy came home from work, we played a bit and I helped put Halloween decorations up in the house!

Storage

Mommy and Daddy were pretty exhausted from last night's jog, so I decided to let the two of them sleep in a little bit. Eventually they both got up and kept me fairly entertained.

After a nice lunch (it seems as though we're running out of groceries over here), Mommy and Daddy started moving Daddy's comic book collection into our new storage room now that the floor is all done. It involved a lot of heavy lifting, a ridiculous amount of dust and sneezing, and a whole lot of grunting and groaning. Thank goodness they're not jogging tonight! I watched television and played in my room the whole time.

We decided to go to the drug store to get some groceries for dinner, and then gave up and decided to go to a restaurant instead. Afterwards, we combed the neighbourhood for additional shelving, and came up short.

A Day with Kristen and Reneé

I spent a good chunk of the morning drawing more pictured for Kristen - Mommy and I finished some presents we've been making her, and got them all ready to give to her. Ursula and her mother-in-law were over, working on the new storage room / furnace room - it looks great!

Mommy and Daddy and I drove downtown to join Kristen and Reneé for lunch... wouldn't you know it, but we totally forgot to bring Kristen her birthday presents. Oops! Oh well - we all had a lovely brunch in any case.

We went to Reneé's, and I got to play with her cats... and then Reneé's boyfriend Mike joined us all as we walked several blocks to a pretty cool ice cream store (passing through a bizarre public dance performance on the way). Delicious!

We walked back to Reneé's along the train tracks, passing by Casa Loma and the area where my Mommy and Daddy lived before I was born. What a fun day - we even stopped at a greasy spoon for french fries. Thanks, everyone!

Carrie Ann

Day three of senior kindergarten today. I'm such the seasoned veteran when it comes to school now... I take a look at all these new little junior kindergarten kids and all of their parents and I just shrug my shoulders with nostalgia. Was I ever that young? These kids are gonna make it though. I can feel it.

Speaking of JK kids, I made really good friends with one of them - a little girl named Carrie Ann stuck to me like glue today. She thinks I'm pretty cool. I didn't mind though, because she gave lots of hugs, and was the only other kid willing to play Doctor Who with me!

Mommy reminded me that tomorrow we have a long-planned get-together with Kristen and Reneé in order to celebrate Kristen's birthday from a few weeks back. I drew her some pictures and let Mommy know that I *think* she's allowed to join us (but I'm not entirely sure). I'd have asked Daddy, but he was late at work again. Sheesh. I was hoping he'd play Doctor Who with me.

Return of the Nemesis

I was full of beans this morning, and had such a great time being full of beans that I decided to remain full of beans for the remainder of the day! I started talking and running around from the minute I woke up to the minute I went to bed.

School was good - I finally got to meet my official teacher for the year. We really seemed to get along... I told my parents that I approved of her. Lots of new kids in my class, and I was glad to see some of my other friends (who have moved on to the first grade) on the playground.

Of course, my nemesis from last year is also back, and any hopes that she would have learned how NOT to be a jerk over the summer were dashed when she called some of my friends mean names and grabbed my leg and hurt me. Mommy and I confronted her and her Grandmother about it today - we are NOT going to have a repeat of last year. If my nemesis' parents won't solve the problem and the school won't, we'll have some serious problems.

Daddy got a package in the mail today, so he and I went to the post office to pick it up. We had a great dinner and watched television together - and the whole time I never stopped asking questions or being full of beans!

The First Day of School (For Real This Time)

Once again, today was the big day... the first day of Senior Kindergarten! I woke up all excited and jazzed... I was so happy and ready for school that Grandpa thought I might actually take flight. I got a new sweater in the mail (it was purple with a pink skull & crossbones on it!) which I insisted to wear with my rainbow wings and a skirt to school.

Oddly enough, my new regular teacher (who I haven't even met yet) was sick on the first day, so I had a supply teacher. We got along just fine, though - I got to see lots of my friends like Cheyenne and Claire and stuff, and we got to play together and hear a story.

Afterwards, when Mommy picked me up, I told her it was 'GREAT"! When we passed the crossing guard on the way home, I told her it was "REALLY GOOD!" and when the guy at the convenience store asked me how my day was, I told her it was "Pretty Good!". Once we got home, I told Grandpa it was "Good."

Daddy was out tonight so Mommy and I had a nice evening of dinner and a movie.

The First Day Of School (?)

Today was the big day... the first day of Senior Kindergarten! I woke up all excited and jazzed... Mommy made me special 'Senior Kindergarten French Toast' and everything. We went over to the market, bought a special muffin for my snack at school - and then met up with another parent and discovered that the first day of Senior Kindergarten is tomorrow.

Oops.

I took the news pretty badly for a minute, and then got over it. Mommy and I went home, had some lunch, and then the two of us played 'school' for two hours straight - including math, writing, crafts, and even gym class in the back yard. I had a real blast, and wanted to do it all over again! Unfortunately, there are only so many hours in the day.

So yeah, uh... tomorrow is actually the first day of school. So... yay! Like I said yesterday... Here's hoping my second-ever 'first day of school' goes well tomorrow!

The Well-Behaved Family

Once again, I had a nice morning of television and video games. Tomorrow I go back to school and start Senior Kindergarten... so I'm somewhat nervous and full of awkward anticipation.

After a week of pestering my parents, my persistence finally paid off - they agreed to take me to Spring Rolls for lunch. I was disappointed that they didn't have my coconut water stocked, but whatever... I ate my fair share of Thai food anyway.

Next we drove out to Forsythe Family Farms, where we went on a tractor ride, walked through the forest, and successfully navigated their corn maze. My parents can safely say that we were the best behaved family (parents included) in attendance.

After dinner and television I was happy to have a much needed bath. Here's hoping my second-ever 'first day of school' goes well tomorrow!

Boîte Diabolique

I HAD A PRETTY GOOD MORNING - I PLAYED VIDEO GAMES, WATCHED TELEVISION, AND PLAYED IN MY ROOM. EVENTUALLY DADDY GOT OUT OF BED - WE HAD A NICE LUNCH TOGETHER, AND THEN HEADED OUT TO RUN SOME ERRANDS!

WE WENT TO OLD NAVY, BUT IT WAS A ZOO... THEN WE WENT TO CANADIAN TIRE FOR SOME DECORATIVE HALLOWEEN LIGHTS, BEST BUY FOR A NEW CAMERA BAG, AND THEN WE WENT TO SEVERAL PLACES IN THE CITY LOOKING FOR A BOX TO KEEP ALL OF OUR EXTERNAL HARD DRIVES AND ROUTERS AND STUFF IN. ALONG THE WAY, WE GOT SOME SNACKS. AWESOME!

ONCE WE GOT HOME, I PLAYED IN MY ROOM SOME MORE, AND THEN I WATCHED TELEVISION WITH MY PARENTS. DUE TO THE FACT THAT I HAD MY IPOD HEADPHONES IN MY EARS PRETTY MUCH ALL DAY, I'VE BEEN SHOUTING NONSTOP.

Seaton Trail XIV

I used the computer a lot this morning before everyone woke up - once Daddy was out of bed, we drove over to the chiropractor, where Mommy got her neck adjusted after weeks of jogging, and I played with Daddy's iPhone.

We came home, had a quick lunch, and then headed out once again for a trip to the supermarket, where I kept falling out of the grocery cart. Oops! We took a quick jaunt to the butcher, came home, and then headed out for a third time - for the first weekend hike we've been on in what feels like months.

It was a little chilly out, so we had to dress warmly, but it was nice to be back at the Seaton Trail, which has eroded a little since we were last there. It threatened to rain the whole time, but held off - and we had a nice complaint-free 90-minute walk. I was rewarded for my compliance with Hot Chocolate.

Astronomy

Mommy and I had a pretty good morning... Ursula was over really early and worked away on the furnace room and stuff. Mommy and I were gonna head out to the splash pad, but it got kinda cloudy and rainy, so we decided to stay home and learn about planets and solar flares and nebulae and stuff. What can I say... I seemed to be kinda interested in astronomy today.

The two of us went out for lunch to celebrate my last official weekday of summer vacation. The local restaurant now serves gluten free noodles, so I totally pigged out and devoured a generous helping of pasta.

In the afternoon, Mommy and I watched a fun movie that Ursula let us borrow, which we both liked. After Daddy came home from work, we ate a lovely dinner and watched television before bed!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Mommy and I prepared for Daddy's birthday dinner today - we carefully put together a wheat-free lasagna and a blackberry cheesecake. I was pretty helpful with the cheesecake, even if we never got around to coating it in blue fondant like I wanted.

I did a lot of playing in my room today - I decided that I was quite happy and satisfied to play all on my lonesome, and kept my door closed. I accidentally knocked over a vase full of flowers, and kinda freaked out about it. I had a bath soon afterwards, and felt better about it.

After Daddy came home from work, we all enjoyed the aforementioned lasagna (which everyone except Mommy liked) and cheesecake. I gave Daddy a bunch of pictures that I drew for his birthday, Gammy and Grandpa got him a new flash for his camera, and Mommy and Daddy and I watched an atrocious movie (Mommy's idea, honest).

Finally, the CNE

After days of begging and pleading and wishing and hoping, Mommy took me to the CNE this morning! We took the bus to the subway station, missed the Go Train, took the subway, and then the streetcar into the (waaaay too expensive) Exhibition fairgrounds.

I went on a whole bunch of cool rides and stuff, and played lots of games - I won some poorly made toys, some inflatable props, and had a fantastic time! I particularly enjoyed the farm exhibits, the ferris wheel, and some of the fun houses I went into.

I got to fulfill another long-standing ambition in life when we took the Go Train home instead of the subway. It was pretty awesome - way better than I thought it was gonna be! We were really tuckered out by the end, but had kept well-hydrated despite the heat.

Daddy and I drew a lot of pictures together today!

Just too hot.

I woke up really hoping to go to the Canadian National Exhibition today... but for the second day in a row, the city was bombarded by cosmic-level heat, and there was another major heat and smog warning issued, so... Mommy asked if I'd be happy to go to the splash pad. That made me more than happy.

Of course, it was probably too hot for the splash pad, plus it looked like it was going to rain, so... I was happy to just stay home and play around in the sprinkler.

We also went to the market this morning, which was great. I got to see Audrey (from the community garden) and I got to eat a muffin. In the evening, I went to visit Gammy and Grandpa - I totally mistook Gammy asleep in her bed for Grandpa asleep on the couch. Pretty confusing.
