Baby Class

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today, Mommy & I went to our first post-natal class at the hospital. There were lots of other Mommies and babies there, but I was the cutest. All of the Mommies told these really scary stories about giving birth and how terrible their babies were at night... it sounds like I'm the best behaved and I had the easiest birth.

Lately I've been doing this really cute thing when Daddy smiles at me... I smile back and then play coy and hide, as though embarassed. I wish I knew where I learned that from.

The happiest day of my life

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I could not. Stop. Smiling. At everyone. Today. Even when I was freaking out and cranky and crying, I would interrupt bouts of "I'm tired but I don't wanna sleep" grumpiness with free-of-charge grins at Mommy.

Went to the chiropractor with Mommy and Daddy today - I smiled at him, too. I saw a cool moving picture of a cute baby (who looked a lot like me!) there while Mommy was having her back fixed, and I smiled at her, too - and she smiled back!

Out for a Stroll

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today Gamma, Grampa, Mommy and Basil & I went for a long walk in the neighbourhood. At first it was cold, but then it was hot. The weather's been crazy for the past few days - it rained for 48 hours and it's been crazy windy!

Daddy says it has something to do with a hurricane, whatever that is.

Grabby!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Had a nice day with Mommy, and even spent some time upstairs with Gamma and Anisa, who held me for the first time!

After Daddy came home, we all went grocery shopping, and while we were at the supermarket, I reached out and intentionally grabbed something and shook it around for the very first time! Yay me! Now poor Basil has to go back to being the dumbest in the house.

The item I grabbed? Daddy's credit card, of course.

Muggy!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today, Mommy and Daddy took Basil and I for a long walk in the park. It looked like it was going to rain, so there weren't many people out - but it sure was muggy. I sweat like a little piggie when it's hot in my stroller.

Daddy got take-out for dinner, after which it was time for another drive in the evening (when it DID rain). Mommy and I watched him play video games, and then it was bedtime!

We Heart Katamari

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Woke up and smiled and laughed... went on a nice long drive all over town, and even went for a walk in the park. Came home, watched Daddy play his new video game (which is fascinating to me)... went for another nice drive after dinner, and then Daddy and I had a nice conversation that he seemed to love. Apparently, I'm very sweet and entertaining when I'm chatty.

Mommy is feeling much better today. Overall, it was an excellent day!

Mommy sick?

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today Mommy had a Doctor's appointment... I didn't like hanging around in the waiting room, so I let everyone within a ten-mile radius know.

Later in the day, Mommy started to develop a fever. Is that how it works? You go to the Doctor's and get sick? No wonder I don't like going there.

Looks like this is gonna be a grrreeeeaaat weekend.

Happy happy!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Went for a walk with Mommy and Gamma - except for the rare moment when a treetop would go past my view, I'd get fussy... so Mommy closed the lid on my stroller, and I fell asleep instantly. Pretty cool trick, huh?

Other than that, I'm smiling and laughing at everything today. Daddy is being especially funny.

Crankenstein*

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today I wanted to (a) always be held and (b) stay awake. Can you blame me? The world is amazing! I don't want to miss anything! Gamma came downstairs and watched television with us all. Perfect time for me to be cranky as all get out.

Less screaming, more smiling

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Feeling much better today... I don't even remember what was bothering me so much yesterday, although there's a big, solid bump on my left thigh. I wonder where it came from...

Went for a couple of walks with Mommy and Gamma and had an awesome bath today. Daddy drove Mommy and I around town in the evening... I slept through it all, as usual.

For Mommy, I'll crack a smile for no reason at all. Daddy has to work for it, though.

Needles?!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today Mommy and Gamma took me to the Doctor's office for my checkup - I'm 13 lbs, now - and then I was stabbed in the thighs!!! Twice! I screamed and screamed and screamed and screamed and I screamed and screamed and screamed and screamed and screamed and screamed and screamed and I screamed and screamed and screamed and screamed and screamed and screamed and screamed and I screamed and screamed and screamed and screamed and screamed and I screamed and screamed and screamed and zzzzzzzz

Two months old!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I'm two months old today. Yay! To celebrate, I've recorded another message - click here to hear it.

Today we went for a drive to the mall... there were too many people, so I just stared at my hands the whole time. Later in the day, while Mommy held my hands, I stood up all by myself. I TOLD Mommy and Daddy that all my leg-twitching and 'baby kung-fu' was good for building strong muscles.

Then, I slept by myself in my crib. I really dig that mobile.

TV

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today I did something new: After a visit to Mommy's chiropractor and a trip to my first bookstore (and sleeping through it), I watched television with Mommy and played a video game with Daddy - I mean, I actually watched the screen. The bright lights and the movement are cool, but Mommy and Daddy are all worried about ideology and hegemony. Gimme a break.

I had a nice chat with Daddy before bed, but he doesn't seem to understand me... all I seem to be able to say (shout) are "ay", "ee", "nnn", "aaa!" and sometimes "laa." I'm working on it though. He makes me laugh.

Tummy time today was dumb. I don't see what the point of me having to lie on my stomach and scream is. It's not as bad as having my nose aspirated, but... it's up there.

Rainy Day

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today was pretty quiet - I hung out most of the day while Mommy watched some DVDs Daddy bought for her while we were on vacation. After he came home from work and played with his new video game a bit, we all went grocery shopping, and then I had a bath.

I've also discovered my feet... sometimes, If I stare at them for long enough, they wiggle at me. Neat!

No more travelling?

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Well, now that I'm home again, I'm unbelievably fidgety. I don't want to go to sleep... what if I wake up and we're in some other country again?

I think I'll just stay awake and work on making some drool. People seem to like that.

Home again

[As transcribed by Daddy]

This morning we said bye-bye to Nana and Jim as Gamma drove Mommy and I aaaaallll the way home. It took a long time!

I'm happy to see Daddy again - he was worried I'd forgotten him, so I made sure I smiled and laughed at him so that he'd feel better. Basil was happy to see me too - he keeps trying to kiss me.

Daddy says I've gotten much larger while I was gone. He'd better keep those 'chubby' comments to himself, though... things like that can affect a gal's subconscious.

Shopping

[As told to Mommy, as transcribed by Daddy]

Today was a day of shopping! Sara came over and she drove Mommy and I all over town to do some sales tax-free shopping. Mommy bought some clothes for herself and daddy at the Gap... and I didn't get anything! It doesn't really matter... I like spending time with Sara.

Gamma showed up here at about midnight. I wonder what she's doing here... she seems awfully tired.

Oily head

[As told to Mommy, as transcribed by Daddy]

A nice, quiet day today. My head is peeling a lot again (my brain must be undergoing another spurt)... so Mommy greased up my head, which made me look weird. I got to try on my new bonnet so that I don't catch a cold or anything.

IIIICE CREEAAAAMMM!

[As told to Mommy, as transcribed by Daddy]

Today, Mommy and Nana took me to a flea market... a nice lady gave us a free flower pot because I'm just so darned cute. Mommy thinks I'm starting to get too heavy for my carrier. Maybe it was the few licks of ice cream I was allowed to eat today.

Ice cream is AMAZING. I think I'm in love.

Nana took some video of me on the swing outside her house. Click here to check it out!

Takin' 'er easy

[As told to Mommy, as transcribed by Daddy]

I'm happy to report that there was no driving involved in the day's activities. Just resting. Nana bought me a nice bonnet today - which raises the overall total of new clothing items gained on this trip to... what... eight hundred? A million? Whatever, I don't really "do" numbers, man.

At Nana's

[As told to Mommy, as transcribed by Daddy]

Gah, more driving. We're back at Nana's house, with that other goofy dog that's not Basil. After the last week of travelling, I think Mommy and I are going to go to sleep. For about a month. I talked to Daddy on the phone for a few minutes today - he squeaked at me and it made me smile instantly!

Potato chip bags are cool

[As told to Mommy, and transcribed by Daddy]

This morning Mommy, Nana, Aunt Trina & I headed off on another ridiculously long drive. Bye-bye, Papa! I'll miss him.

We dropped Aunt Trina off along the way, drove for a bit more - Mommy had a potato chip bag that was just captivating. It was all shiny... wow. Anyway, the three of us have stopped at what's called a 'Motel.' I wonder where we'll be tomorrow.

Handy

[As told to Mommy, as transcribed by Daddy]

The weirdest thing happened today. It's hard to explain, so bear with me - today was another day of being shown off by Papa to lots of new people that, to be honest with you, I probably won't remember. Anyway, I was getting a little bit cranky with all the showing and the carrying and the moving, and I started waving my arms around (like I do when trying to make the nasal aspirator-thing go away). This time it was different, though - this time I could actually control them, and watch them as I moved them. I could also kinda open and close my fingers, too. It may not sound like a big deal, but it sure is to me.

It's too bad Daddy isn't around to see this. I wonder where he is.

Papa

[As told to Mommy, as transcribed by Daddy]

So I've been spending a lot of time with my other Grandfather, who wants me to call him 'Papa', which works for me. He likes to talk to me and take me for walks and show me off to all of his friends, and he sure can make me smile, so, I think I'll keep him.

I had to have a bath in a sink today. I made sure I let everyone know that I'm not really into bathing in someone's sink. Sheesh.

Tuesday, September 06, 2005

So many people!

[As told to Mommy, as transcribed by Daddy]

Again with the driving. All day. Again! Now we're in a place called South Carolina, I'm being passed around from person to person, and it's incredibly hot. I've been introduced to a very enthusiastic man everyone claims is my Grandfather... just to confuse me, I suppose, seeing as I now have two Grandfathers to match my two Grandmothers. I'm getting cranky just trying to sort it all out. I'd mention the fact that I also met my second great-grandmother, but things only get really confusing from there.

On the road again

[As told to Mommy, as transcribed by Daddy]

What gives?! Drove all day today (this is getting a tetch boring), this time with Mommy and Grandma. Where are Daddy and Basil?!

Sunday, September 04, 2005

Driving

[As told to Mommy, as transcribed by Daddy]

Today Sara took Mommy and I for a long drive. I don't know how long exactly, but when I woke up, we were with Granny (the one who doesn't live upstairs).

Happy birthday, Daddy!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today was busy - Daddy had the day off of work, so after the Nixons (remember them from last week?) came back for a visit, we (Mommy, Daddy, Basil, Sara and I) went GeoCaching for the first time, and found a cache right around the corner from where we live.

For dinner, we all went to a Japanese restaraunt to celebrate Daddy's birthday. I slept through the whoooole thing.

Daddy got a little video clip from my friend Etana in Alberta for his birthday - click it to see it! It's pretty funny.

Webcam

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Grampa drove Mommy and Sara and the dog and I to a place called 'the beaches,' where I'm pretty sure I've been before, just not during the day. We walked around and ate lunch - it was a big deal because Basil now has to wear a funny mouth-thing. Strangers kept coming up to us and telling us how much they hate the 'pit bull ban,' whatever that means. Then I had my first-ever ride on public transit as we headed home (This I slept through).

When Daddy came home from work, we all went for a drive around the city, as usual, and we even went to the supermarket to buy birthday cake mix...

Sara!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today, Mom's friend Sara came over to visit from a whole other country! It sure seemed to make Basil happy... me too. In fact, I was so happy, I didn't sleep all afternoon.

I'm a happy kid living with my parents and our dog in Toronto. I'm goofy, sweet, smart, extremely chatty, and pretty much the cutest kid on the face of the Earth!
