From My Imagination

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Another early morning argument / fight with Mommy ended in me storming off to my bedroom, where I slammed the door and made a big scene. As a result, I wasn't allowed to use the computer for the rest of the day. Of course, that didn't stop me from playing video games over Mommy's shoulder.

The two of us had a pretty low-key day as the temperature outside plummeted. We played a bunch of board games, and even let some of my toys play along too... my dilophosaurus toy got in some trouble for playing too rowdy, and Brobee ended up winning at Candyland.

After Daddy came home from a ridiculously busy day at work, I did a really neat and funny dance for him to this video - when my folks asked how I came up with the dance, I told them it was "from my imagination."

Frastic

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I was up kinda early again today, and never really seemed to recover. I was alternately spastic and frantic "Frastic" - the littlest thing would set me off, plus I was abnormally wacky. At times, I continued yesterday's 'Little Bear' theme and pretended that my family and I were all characters from the show. Due to an incident with me bring grumpy with the computer this morning, it was pretty much off-limits to me all day.

Later on in the day, after some delicious homemade squash lasagna, my folks took me to the mall so that we could go and pick up their new contact lenses. Luckily for me, there was an ice cream cone involved, which Daddy and I shared... it was really nice. Next up we got some coffee, and then i got overly excited in a video game store.

Little Bear's Fish Stew

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I had a fairly average yet enjoyable penultimate playschool visit this morning, and then we came home and did the usual afternoon stuff... watched some Dinosaur DVDs, played some board games, did some tidying and cleaned my room - that sort of thing. Cool Uncle Gareth paid me a visit and said good-bye before he headed back to Yew Nork - I'll miss him.

I shifted gears before dinner for some reason, and got it into my head that I was going to pretend to be one of my favourite cartoon characters, Little Bear, for the entire rest of the day. That made Mommy 'Mother Bear', and when Daddy came home, he was 'Father Bear.' I even pretended that our dinner was 'Fish Stew', Father Bear's favourite. Anyone who has seen that particular episode of the show knows what I mean.

Up Too Early

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I was awake early this morning. I'm not sure how early exactly (because I can't tell time, yet), but it was at least before 6:30. Mommy got up and kept me company (as did Grandpa), but I clearly didn't get enough sleep... I spent the entire day being emotional, cranky, clumsy, and very very quick to overreact to the smallest of bumps and falls. It made the day even more exhausting for Mommy.

I spent the better part of the day looking forward to art class - not because of the art, but because I couldn't wait to see my friend Madeleine and play Pirates with her. Sure enough, when art class came along, Madeline and I embraced upon seeing each other and immediately got to playing Pirate games! That kid Quinn kinda got involved, which didn't really make me happy - I think he likes me, but I sent him to the time-out corner anyway.

I got to stay up a bit (!) to wait for Cool Uncle Gareth to stop by and play with me. I was quick to fall asleep... as was everyone else in my family!

Magician

[As transcribed by Daddy]

This afternoon I had my weekly swimming class - despite the water being seriously freezing, I didn't seem to mind and had a really fun time. My friend Molly didn't want to put her head in the water, so in comparison I was pretty easy to work with. I told everyone about the new skin care products my naturopath gave me.

Earlier in the day, however, I put on a seriously awesome magic show for some of my toys and for Mommy in her sewing room. I stood on the bed and asked for a volunteer - Cinnamon Bunny stepped up, so I asked him what he really liked doing. He replied "Eating Carrots" - I wasn't thrilled with that answer, so I asked him again... he said "Hopping." "In that case," I announced to the audience, "I will DISAPPEAR you!" I then put a blanket over him, so that nobody could see him. My toys applauded. It was awesome.

Daddy was late from work again tonight. Did I ever post a link to his beard video? I like it.

Go-Go Dancer

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I was up really early this morning - I paid Gammy and Grandpa a visit and drew lots of pictures and left them all over their house. Cute doodles and sketches seem to be my calling card.

After lunch, Daddy and I abandoned Mommy (still furiously cleaning the apartment) to go to the mall with Grandpa. We got bubble tea, he got shoes. It was a nice trip - once we got home, though, we turned around and went shopping again, trading Grandpa for Mommy. We got some kitchen stuff and some goodies for tonight's Oscar party.

Cool Uncle Gareth arrived after we got home - it was great to see him, as usual. Nick was over next, and before we all had a nice dinner and it was time for me to go to bed, I danced and danced as Daddy, Gareth, and Nick played Rock Band. Maybe it was the go-go dancing, and maybe it was all the snacking I did throughout the day, but I was out like a light.

Hot Wheels

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I were up and at 'em pretty early - I had some breakfast and she got started on frantically scrubbing and cleaning the kitchen and stuff. When we finally coerced Daddy out of bed, he played with me for a while and then bailed to help Mommy in the kitchen.

After some lunch, the bunch of us drove off to the mall to look for a few things - we got some popcorn for tomorrow's Oscar Annual Oscar shindig, and a bucket to put my bath toys in (those things are slowly taking over the bathroom). As a nice surprise, Daddy took me over to the toy store, where he finally found the plastic miniature car tracks he's been looking for for ages... we got some little cars, came home, and played and played and played with them in my room! Pretty fun!

Dinner was nice - before bed, it was time to continue the book I've been enjoying (I still don't understand why you pick up bigger books in the middle, and not from t every beginning every time).

Mommy WINS

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I had a quiet morning - at one point, after several breakfasts, I had a nice tub. When I got out, Mommy read to me from a really cool book, which I enjoyed despite the fact that it didn't have many full-page pictures in it.

After lunch, we played many board games, and get this: Mommy actually managed to win somehow! That never happens (and it's not like she ever actually lets me win). Congrats, Mommy - enjoy it while you can.

After Daddy came home from work, we had some dinner and then the bunch of us played hide and seek in the house. We had a blast - although Basil is really bad at playing because he kinda gives away everyone's hiding spot. He worries.

Disney Store Tour Guide

[As transcribed by Daddy]

For some reason, I told Mommy that I really wanted to go to the mall today (I even asked to invite Grandpa). It sounded fine to her, so that was the plan we followed... until she started to get something of a headache. She figured she'd not mention it, since I seemed perfectly fine to hang out at home and play - but then Grandpa came over and invited us to the mall all on his own!

We had a nice time - we circumnavigated the mall twice, I got a bubble tea, and I gave Grandpa a really nice tour of the Disney Store, where I commented on how beautiful everything was.

After we got home and I had another fifty meals (give or take), Daddy took me out to Swiss Chalet, where we picked up dinner and had a really great conversation on the way - discussing how much we love taking pictures and drawing pictures.

Registrant

[As transcribed by Daddy]

It was a big day today... Mommy and I walked over to the local public school and registered me for kindergarten! I was under the impression that I'd actually be attending class today, and was somewhat put out and annoyed that I was just gonna sit around while Mommy filled out forms. Despite my disappointment, I still didn't want to leave when it came time to walk over to playschool...

...but I was happy to be there once we arrived (even after a slip and fall on the slippery snow on the way). Julie and Sarah were there - we all hand a grand old time. The fact that I had loaded up on two breakfasts and three snacks by that point helped also.

Mommy and I had a quiet afternoon (consisting of more snacking and stuff). I helped Mommy make a batch of cookies, and played Pirates with Daddy when he came home from work. I went to bed a little early - Mommy and Daddy had a night out with friends planned.

Hangy-Dangy Stuff

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I helped Mommy do her exercises by not standing in the way this morning... later we went for a walk through the neighbourhood, and upon seeing the glistening bits of ice clumping around blades of grass, asked Mommy "What's that Hangy-Dangy stuff?" Afterwards, I had a really really boring bath.

After lunch, Mommy and I went to my art class - while we ran to catch the bus, I fell and skinned my knee. I was really really distraught that we missed the bus... but we caught there next one, and THEN I realized that my knee hurt. At art class I got to see Madeleine - she really missed me last week. We have declared ourselves best friends, which is really sweet. We should have her and her parents over one day.

Daddy was late from work again, so Mommy and I ate shepherd's pie in front of the TV and watched a dinosaur DVD together. It was pretty cool, but I gave Daddy a piece of my mind when he got home.

Family Day

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I was up pretty early this morning! By the time my parents had dragged themselves out of bed today (it being a new statutory 'Family Day' holiday in Ontario) I had decorated the entire place with artwork. My drawings (on every scrap of paper available) are getting really intricate and fascinating. I'm definately talented... we wonder if it's partly genetic, or if it's just because I'm always surrounded by creativity and I'm so encouraged by my folks.

After lunch today, Mommy and Daddy and Basil and I went and picked up Leslie, who we haven't seen in ages, and drove out to the Rouge, where we all went for a really really really slippery and icy hike. I got pretty squeamish and sensitive about the possibility of slipping and falling.

After we took Leslie home, we went back to our place and got ready for a big family dinner ("Family Day" and all). I stood by while Daddy "helped" Mommy prepare some stuff, including a fancy dessert. We joined Gammy and Grandpa and all had a lovely dinner. Then I went to bed, and Daddy passed out on the couch (due to too much fancy dessert and lack of sleep).

Seaton Trail VII

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I was in bed with my folks early last night, and woke up really early this morning. To get Daddy to stop sleeping in, I jumped on his head! Just like I tried to crush it the night before! He LOVED that. It might have something to do with the fact that he had a headache for most of the day.

After lunch today, Mommy and Daddy and I went to the mall so that my folks could order some new contact lenses. We quickly went home, picked up the dog, and drove out to a new section of the Seaton Trail - part we'd never been to before. Unfortunately it was covered in snow and ice, and we had a hard time following it. We left after only a few minutes, but had a good walk nonetheless.

Once we got home, Daddy had a nap... once he woke up, we all watched a movie on television and played a game of Monopoly. I put off going to bed for as long as I could!

Valentine Headcrush

[As transcribed y Daddy]

I was happy to wake up to a Valentine's Day celebration! Mommy made me a whole bunch of hand-sewn pieces of play food, including carrots, slices of bread, and pea pods! Awesome! I immediately took fed them to Cinnamon Bunny.

Daddy finally pinned me down and got me to record some audio for a little Flash gamey-thing he made for Mommy for Valentine's Day... it's a little bit crude (and it probably needs a preloader) but you can view it here. I think it's awesome.

After lunch, Mommy and Daddy and I took a drive to the mall, where I had a hot chocolate (I chose it over Bubble Tea!) and we just kinda looked around. Mommy talked to Nana on the phone for the entire duration of our drive to the butcher... Daddy and I kept ourselves entertained by scoping out suitable walls for an installation he's gonna do for work.

After dinner, Daddy fell asleep on the couch. I woke him up by trying to crush his head by pressing down on it as hard as I could with all my weight. He needed to take some medicine after that.

The Queen Mommy

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy was kinda tired today, so we had something of a quiet morning and early afternoon. We missed saying goodbye to the Nixons, but did get in some visiting with my grandparents.

Later in the day, it was time to go to my new Naturopath appointment! We took a nice bus and subway ride downtown, and enjoyed the Doctor's office - there were toys to play with, so I was happy. When it came time to have my rash looked at, I was such a good girl (having a really awesome Doctor helped)... I got my finger pricked, had some blood taken, and got an awesome pink bandage! I also had the foresight to bring Cinnamon Bunny along to get looked at - he got a bandage, too. Mommy was very proud of me. And Cinnamon Bunny.

Mommy and I took the bus down to my parents' favourite restaurant, The Queen Mother (I called it "The Queen Mommy"), where we waited for Daddy to join us after work, and where I told the staff all about my Naturopath appointment and how we were waiting for "my husband". Dinner was really awesome. I got a huge piece of cake for dessert! Can't wait to go back there.

Daddy took us shopping - I loved the cool toy store, but completely crashed and turned into a zombie when we headed home. My folks can't believe I remained conscious for so long on the subway ride home.

Jigsaw Puzzle of Emotion

[As transcribed by Daddy]

This morning Mommy and I did our exercises and then braved the blustery, cold weather and went to Julie & Sara's house. We found it fascinating that the worse the weather is, the worse Toronto Transit seems to be. Shouldn't it be the other way?

We had a great visit! I gave Sara her birthday present and Valentine's card, which everyone really loved. In fact, we had such a good time that we ended up staying extra long... Sara and James were sad when we left in the afternoon because they thought my rain boots were pretty awesome.

After some quick grocery shopping, we came home - I did a lot of drawing (weird drawings, man - really weird) and tried to watch a DVD. Eventually, Daddy came home with his friend Ray in tow - they screened a movie they made together and joined us for dinner! Ray spent a lot of time with me - we made a jigsaw puzzle, but I was so exhausted from my busy day that I kinda started crying when some of the puzzle pieces didn't fit. I was happy to go to bed.

Uncle Doug

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy woke up with another headache (we think it's due to the rising temperatures and heavy fog - the pressure must be crushing her brain), but luckily it didn't last as long as yesterday's headache. We walked over to playschool and had a lovely morning, except...

...for the time I hit a little kid! He was in my face trying to play with me, and I shoved or hit him or something. Needless to say, I was sternly punished - Mommy almost removed me from playschool for the day on the spot. I apologized to the kid and went back to being sweet. Hopefully I've learned my lesson.

We had a nice afternoon making cupcakes and stuff - I also got to meet my visiting Uncle Doug and his ladyfriend Dorothy. At first I was my usual extremely shy self - covering my eyes so I can't see the visitor - but eventually I slightly warmed up and kinda made friends with him.

Moxy and the Disappearing Song

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I had an okay morning, until she was suddenly hit by a pretty debilitating headache. As a result, we kept things pretty nice n' easy... I played some video games and watched some television and stuff.. eventually Mommy kinda recovered, and things returned to normal.

Later in the day, I had something of an accident when I didn't make it to the toilet in time - I had to change my clothes, and picked out my outfit myself... including a superhero cape and bloomers on the outside of my tights.

I put on a pretty cute show for my Grandparents and the Nixons - a play called "Moxy and The Disappearing Song." After the curtain opened, my toy Moxy sang the alphabet song, but suddenly stopped at the letter G. Because the song disappeared. Then I gave Nee-Nee a hug.

Yummy Pool Noodles

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Once again the weather is oddly warm - after Mommy got caught up on her email, we took a nice walk down to the drug store, where we did some shopping for odds and ends, where I bought a magazine, and where we mailed a big batch of Valentine's Day cards we had made earlier in the day. They're pretty cute! We also FINALLY started mailing out Daddy's music CD.

I watched a bunch of television and enjoyed the package of doll clothes Aunt Diane sent me in the mail - and later in the afternoon it was time for swimming lessons. I had fun - I turn into something of an animal in the water, man. I started eating the pool noodles. Weird. The Nixons are visiting with Gammy and Grandpa - I laughed and laughed when I saw Uncle Roger sitting in Nee-Nee's chair (I assumed he was pretending to be her).

I had my customary long bath as soon as we got home (to get the rash-aggravating chlorine off of my body) and then had chocolate milk with dinner. You know a day where you got chocolate milk with dinner HAD to have been a great day.

Down by the Bay

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Woke up to something of a surprise - a water main buried under the sidewalk a few doors down burst, which meant that nobody in our neighbourhood had any water for the better part of the morning. We melted some snow on the stove and made do.

We tidied up the apartment, and soon the MacDermotts arrived - Corrine and I played a lot, and I really enjoyed squishing baby Zoe's head (I keep calling her 'bean-head' after my cousin Zoe). We had a really nice brunch, Daddy and Jason and Arlynn played video games, and by the time they left, the weather was so nice that Mommy and Daddy and I just had to go out for a hike!

With Basil in tow (riding nervously in the trunk of the car), we drove out to the Rouge and walked along the river for close to an hour. It was really refreshing - just what we all needed! We came home, had some leftovers for dinner, and all snuggled together ("a bunch of jbgfes" - see yesterday's post) and sang endless versions of "Down By The Bay".

...Have you ever seen a slug pee on the carpet? Down by the Bay?

Jbgfe

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Instead of freezing cold weather, today we had ...uncharacteristically warm weather! Bizarre! None of us hesitated to take advantage of this freak occurence, though - we were out and about in a hurry. First, we went to the new Fabricland store, where Mommy bought some odds & ends while Daddy and I praticed spelling and reading using the iron-on letter patches. I made up several new words, such as 'JBGFE' (pronounced "Jub-Guffy").

Next, we went to a nice café in the beaches and had a lovely lunch, and quickly after that we drove over to a nearby coffee place and had coffee with our good friend Joanna, who we haven't seen in months, and who is visiting from England. It was really nice to see her - I drew her several pictures to take back to England with her.

After some book shopping, we came home - despite the great full night's sleep last night and four cups of coffee during the day, Daddy fell asleep on th couch while we were snuggling. After dinner, I was so excited about Corrine coming over tomorrow that I could hardly sleep!

Yellowbellies!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

The weather warmed up enough today that Mommy and I were able to take a morning walk out to the drug store - mostly just for the sake of getting out, but also to pick up a few groceries and stuff. We had a really nice walk - Mommy has often commented that she feels like she's a better mother when she's out with me compared to when we're just kinda sitting around at home.

I developed a real hankering for frozen waffles at the drug store (this is coming after a monstrous breakfast and snack), so Mommy indulged me. The rest of the afternoon was good - I watched a movie that caused me to spontaneously shout "Yellowbellies!" all day.

After Daddy came home from work, he and I played in my room until he fell asleep. Mommy made a nice curry for dinner, and then Nee-Nee and Bruce came over to play Rock Band with Daddy and Gammy before I went to bed.

Oh look, more blogger posting problems. There's no Chinese characters in this post... so what's the problem now?!

農曆新年

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Ugg... this is the FOURTH time Daddy has tried to write this post. Note to all Blogger users who routinely post from flickr - be careful when pasting Chinese characters into your blog posts. It'll cause flickr to completely delete what you've writte, apparently.

So... what did he write the other three times? Uh... let's see... it was cold, Mommy and I were stuck inside, we played a lot of games and puzzles... I drew pictures for Ines in Barcelona... I got a mislabeled wind-up Stegosaurus/Pencil Sharpener in the mail from Cool Uncle Gareth... and Mommy hung artwork in her room and cleaned the foyer outside the living room.

Mommy didn't feel like preparing food, and since I was so jazzed when Gammy brought me a traditional Chinese red envelope from work, I was pretty hyped for Chinese New Year, so Mommy gave Daddy permission to take us out for Chinese food, which we all enjoyed (and which I got all over my shirt).

Yeah, this post was way better the other three times Daddy wrote it. Oh well. 恭喜发财, everyone!

The Best Game of Jenga in the History of Wooden Block-Based Manual Dexterity Games

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Good lord, but it got cold outside again. Mommy and I somehow managed to brave the freezing weather and made it to playschool. Julie and Sarah weren't there, but I managed to have a really awesome time anyway - I met a new cute kid named Mika, and Jack & I convinced Mommy to put on a pretty great puppet show.

We had a quiet afternoon once we got home - we played a lot of board games and learned all about bugs and insects. I visited my Grandparents for a while, and I scolded Daddy when he came home from work late again.

The big event of the day was before I went to bed - Daddy and I played the most monumentous game of Jenga ever witnessed. I'm sure you think I'm exaggerating, but I'm not - Mommy was on the edge of her seat, watching me somehow pull block after block from the tower without knocking it over. Daddy took photos - it was incredible. Odds-defyingly awesome. When it eventually fell (on my head), I was pretty distraught.

Gettin' Jigsawy Wit It

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Would you believe it snowed again outside? That's gotta be some kind of record. Mommy and I did a bunch of jigsaw puzzles on the floor, and had a pretty good time... in the afternoon, once the weather suddenly cleared and became even sunny, we went to our weekly art class.

I was really happy to see my friend Madeleine - while at class, we made construction paper groundhogs, little aliens in flying saucers, and I made a new friend - Quinn, who wore cool sneakers that squeaked when he scuffed them along the floor. I seemed to be the only person besides Quinn who found it funny.

Mommy and I rode a pretty packed bus home, and had a lovely soup for dinner after watching some DVDs. After Daddy joined us a little late from work, he and I did some more jigsaw puzzles.

Squirrely

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I had a fairly quiet morning - we hung out in Mommy's room and watched two big gray squirrels (which we've rarely seen this side of the U.S.-Canada border) hog the bird feeder while four or five black squirrels patiently waited in the trees for their turn. No sign of the cardinal from yesterday.

Daddy called from work - I made him laugh by explaining how much I hate having to brush my teeth. After lunch, Mommy and I walked down to the toy store to buy some dinosaur floor puzzles... and we totally caught the little old man who owns it brushing his teeth in the back!

I had a swimming lesson in the afternoon, which really aggravated my rash. I had a bath when I got home, and then a lovely dinner (finishing off Aunt Trina's ground venison) before Daddy put me to bed. Actually, it was the other way around - I had him sleeping in record time.

Senamun Bune

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Finally! A nice, warm(er) spring-ish day smack dab in the middle of a snowy, blustery cold streak. Awesome! Unfortunately, Daddy had to go back into work this weekend, so we couldn't go out to visit with Joanna or go for a hike like we wanted. Mommy and I joined him at the office, though, and helped him do some work - Mommy and I drew pictures, ate lunch, and learned the alphabet (I phonetically spelled words out on post-it notes... Cinnamon Bunny became "Sinamun Bune".

Daddy took us for a quick walk through the nearby cemetery (where we watched a lot of squirrels get surprisingly close to us), and then Mommy and I bid Daddy adieu and visited Nee-Nee at the local bookstore. She read to me while Mommy shopped! I got a lot of books.

After a surprisingly quick transit ride home, Mommy took Basil for a walk (he and a golden retriever 'competitively pranced' on either side of the road) while I had a snack with Grandpa. I called Daddy at work when it was time for me to go to bed... hopefully I can catch him before he leaves for work again tomorrow.

Enjoying a Clean Room

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy had a boisterous morning of laundry and breakfast as we let Daddy sleep in for pretty much the entire morning (after having worked until 3 in the morning last night). After he got up, he made me a lovely breakfast of perogies, leftover pizza, and day-old sushi. He's a culinary artist, that father of mine.

Somehow several hours went by in the afternoon without any of us doing much... there was some video game playing, birdwatching book reading, and just the empty general enjoyment of the fact that Mommy cleaned her room. The three of us just kinda hung out in there and enjoyed the cleanliness.

Later in the afternoon, we went to the mall for something to do and enjoyed some bubble tea - then did the grocery shopping. Unfortunately, the bubble tea came back with a vengeance, and my fear of public restrooms got the better of me. I had a slight accident, but held things together relatively well.

Watched a movie during dinner, but had a hard time sitting still through it.

I'm a happy kid living with my parents and our dog in Toronto. I'm goofy, sweet, smart, extremely chatty, and pretty much the cutest kid on the face of the Earth!
