Hail Caesar

New Tardis 01 by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy made a big batch of pancakes for brunch, which we all ate outside on the picnic table. I had a mini-meltdown directed squarely at Daddy over the prospect of wearing a costume for photos with my new TARDIS, and then we managed to have some lunch.

Daddy drove us all to Pickering (avoiding the busy highways) where we hit up the Pickering Mall. Daddy got some new shoes, Mommy got a raincoat, and I got some sushi! On the way home, we stopped by HomeSense to buy a box big enough to contain all of our Carcassonne expansions.

Daddy took some photos of me out by the TARDIS once we got back, and then Mommy made a delicious Caesar salad just for me (since I loved the one we had at Shelley's house a few weeks ago). It was maybe the best Caesar salad Daddy's ever had. And, once again, I put off going to sleep for as long as possible once we got back from doing the grocery shopping.

Downtown Adipose

Birthday Polish by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

This morning Mommy and I spent a good amount of time writing thank-you cards to the guests at my birthday party, and we took Dennis for a walk. He sure seemed to poop a lot.

Next, we took a pretty crowded subway downtown and then walked to Daddy's office, where we got to meet some of his friends (like his writing partner Jen), all of whom were really cool to me. Mommy and Daddy and I went over to a nice fancy restaurant and ordered some of the most famous burgers in Toronto - I didn't love them due to the caramelized onions.

We went back to Daddy's office, and then Daddy took me to the toy and comic book store, where I bought a new Doctor Who Adipose plush toy. We were so exhausted by the time we got back that we decided to take it kinda easy... although we did sneak in a trip to Fabricland and Starbucks (which was not a good idea, in that it took me ages to get to sleep).

Loose Tooth?

Loose Tooth? by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

This morning Mommy and I did some tidying, some Googling of stuff on the internet, and we put together some of the various crafts and toys and presents I got at my birthday party. Anyway, at lunch I dug into a big ear of corn, when suddenly I noticed a pain in my tooth.

Mommy examined the tooth and thought it might possibly be a little bit loose. Well - that sure sent me into a tizzy of excitement and glee! I went over to Gammy and Grandpa's place, and spent hours there... and ran back home to Mommy any time there was 'wobbly tooth' related news.

After Daddy got home from work, I got him to examine my wobbly tooth a little bit, and then the two of us watched some television together.

Connor, Lord of the Fountain

Birthday Happy by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I had a nice walk to the garden this morning, where we picked a seemingly endless batch of small tomatoes and squash blossoms, which are delicious, by the way. Next, we headed over to the park, where we met up with Claire and Connor and their Mom. Claire is just getting over a case of strep throat, and was kinda grouchy. Actually, so was Connor, who decided that he owned the drinking fountain and would get quite upset any time anyone else went near it.

In the afternoon, Mommy and I played a couple of good games of Chutes and Ladders, however Mommy won both games, which really kinda ticked me off. However, she really made up for it in the evening by cooking up those tomatoes and squash blossoms for dinner.

Best Soda Ever

Dance Uniform 2 by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

This morning Mommy and I went to the library over by the farmer's market, where I got to take out a whole big pile of books. While we were there, some of the kids were a bit rude to me, but before long we were all friends.

Next we went over to the farmer's market, where I unfortunately dropped and smashed a watermelon. No big deal, though. We also had some purple sweet potato waffles and white carrots, neither of which we liked very much.

In the afternoon, we ran some more errands - I got some new clothes at the thrift store, and then we found a lovely café to have a snack at... I drank a vanilla and caramel Italian soda, which I immediately proclaimed to be the best soda I've ever had.

The Nightmare Squid

Puppet Circle by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Last night I had another edition of my recurring nightmare - the one where a giant squid appears in the kitchen sink and then tries to grab me and Mommy with its tentacles and eat us. I ended up crawling into bed with my parents (bringing most of my toys with me), only to wake up a few mere hours later when a massive thunderstorm (finally) hit us. None of us slept very well.

Mommy and I went to the toy store during the day, planned our upcoming vacation a bit, and tried to play with Dennis outside, seeing as how he's spent the last few days tied up outside. He was pretty full of energy - he dug a bunch of holes in the yard, so we gave him a bath... and then he escaped the apartment and ran up the street.

He got him back, but after dinner while playing catch with him in the back yard, he got a little to excited and scratched me on the butt and bit Mommy on the hand. At least he's well exercised!

The Party Continues

Puppet Learning by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and Daddy and Dennis and I were all set to load into the car at an ungodly hour of the morning in order to drive out to Welland and then run the 2nd Annual Julia's Journey fundraiser that Lisa puts on... but we were all still so exhausted from yesterday's business that we decided not to bother with the four-hour road trip and just take it easy today.

Thanks goodness we did, because suddenly my friend Cadence showed up - she thought yesterday's birthday party was today! No worries - she and I played in the yard for an hour (the weather today was great), so that was cool.

After that, Mommy and Daddy and I did a quick run to the mall to buy some pants for Daddy (I got bubble tea along the way) and then we came home again and had a quiet afternoon. Daddy put a second coat of paint on the TARDIS, Mommy and I read about cicadas (which are everywhere) in the backyard tent, and I even got to meet Babak's wife Monica, who came over for a visit!

Dirty Birthday, Dear Yick-Yick

Birthday Puppets with Claire by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Finally - my sixth birthday party is here! I was so happy I put on my birthday party dress and crown (the same as last year) and was ready to go before my folks were even out of bed! Kristen and Renee arrived to run the festivities, and several of my favourite friends - Carrieann, Claire, Cheyenne, Corrin, Sarah, and special guest appearances by Connor and Ainsley - all came over to join me!

Kristen and Renee helped us all make sock puppets - I named mine 'Yick-Yick', and we put on a special puppet show for our parents about Yick-Yick's birthday (we sang a rousing rendition of "Dirty Birthday Dear Yick-Yick"). There were party games, lunch, fancy cupcakes, birthday presents... overall, I had a great time!

Once it was all said and done, Daddy and I drove Kristen and Renee home, and then listened to some awesome tunes on the lengthy car ride home. Finally, we all had a pretty quiet evening at home, decompressing from all of the activity!

Rock Paper Scissors Champion!

Dance Uniform 1 by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today was my last day of summer camp... aside from the usual things, we held a big 'Rock Paper Scissors' tournament today... you know, in order to stay inside and keep out of the heat. I'm happy to say that I was able to win the whole darn thing! That also includes games against my camp counsellors, too!

The rest of the afternoon was quiet - Mommy and I worked away to get the house ready for tomorrow's big birthday celebration. Daddy toiled outside for almost five hours straight, trying to get the TARDIS completely painted. He finished priming and applying the first coat - we're all pretty stunned at how good it looks. And how BLUE it is.

I'm pretty jazzed about tomorrow's birthday party, and so I got to stay up and hang out with Grandpa while my parents ran some errands before I went to bed. Pretty fun!

Fifty Degrees?!

Canada Day Sparklers 7 by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Toronto hit a heat record today. Now, I know that I've been discussing how hot it is on the blog for the past few days and everything, but today is was even hotter. With the humidity and everything, it hit 50 degrees celcius, according to some people.

At camp we were gonna all head over to Stan Wadlow and use the outdoor pool, but it was so hot we just went to the nearest indoor pool instead. I had a good time, so... no complaints.

The afternoon was decent... I must have passed out due to the heat, because I don't remember much about it. Mommy suggested I write a thank-you note to the administrators at summer camp, and I just wanted to phone it in. Mommy actually made sit down and focus on it, and it turned out pretty well. I thought about helping Daddy prime the TARDIS outside, but... it was waaaay too hot for that stuff.

Boring Buddhas

Seagull in the Background by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Pretty hot today. The good news is that at summer camp, we all took local transit over to the Royal Ontario Museum! I've been there a bunch of times already, so I helped show the other kids around. We saw the Dinosaurs (as usual) which I liked, and then checked out the 'Buddha stuff', which I thought was kinda boring.

The afternoon with Mommy was pretty good - we did what we did yesterday... we stayed inside and protected ourselves from the searing heat of the sun and watched a movie. Much to my surprise, Max and Jenna (and their parents) came over right before dinner, and I played and blew bubbles with them. I didn't want either of them to leave empty handed, so I let them choose toys from my room for them to keep.

I'm kinda awesome like that.

Hiding from the Sun

Bubble Wand by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Believe it or not, but I actually slept in a little bit today - must've been due to the exhaustion of yesterday's activities. Mommy walked me over to the school for summer camp - it was pretty awesome once again, and then we all went over to the OTHER school to go for a swim! It was great! Looks like all those swimming lessons over the past year paid off, because I was doing quite well for myself in the pool.

Due to the insanely hot weather, Mommy and I tried to get a lot done outside but still stay hydrated and indoors as much as possible. While Mommy tidied the house and re-arranged all of the books on the shelves, I watched one of my favourite movies. Sure it was nice outside, but... way too hot.

Daddy actually came home from work at a pretty normal hour (second day in a row)! He joined Mommy and I for a lovely picnic dinner outside before he finished caulking the TARDIS. He's really hoping to have that thing finished up for my birthday party on the weekend.

Six Years Old!

Big Girl by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today I woke up to discover Mommy had tricked out my bedroom - she hung birthday decorations and everything! As I specifically requested, breakfast consisted of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a candle in it… and then I went to my first day of summer camp (I call it 'Selwyn Camp', to differentiate it from the other summer camp I used to go to back when I was only five years old). They had jump ropes there, so I was a really happy camper. Literally!

I came home and had a picnic for lunch in the back yard with Mommy, and then Mommy and I took the bus to the movie theatre, where we saw the new Winnie-The-Pooh movie, which I loved! We hit up Canadian Tire and the mall, and then took the bus home again. Once we got there, it was time to turn right around and go out to dinner!

Daddy and Nee-Nee and Gammy and Grandpa joined us at Jawny Bakers, where I had a lovely meal, and sorbet with a sparkler. The staff sang 'Happy Birthday' to me and everything! Of all the presents I got today (my folks are saving stuff for my party on the weekend) from Nee-Nee and my grandparents, I'm most jazzed about the Slip N' Slide.

Gammy's Picnic

Gammy's Picnic by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on July 19th]

I was up and ready to go really early today - I put on my new dress, went over to Gammy and Grandpa's place, and eagerly awaited the arrival of all of her students from the various classes she's taught over the years. Mommy and Daddy and Dennis took off for parts unknown, and I was set for the afternoon.

People started trickling in after lunch, bringing lots of food! I'm not sure that what I ate was outside of the realm of my allergies, but it was delicious nonetheless. There were some kids of me to play with and stuff, and some of them even brought toys and presents and stuff! Not even because it's my birthday tomorrow… just because! I kept hydrated and stuff, so the heat didn't bother me too much.

People were gone by about five… and then Mommy and Daddy and Dennis came home, and we had leftover picnic food for dinner while Daddy worked on the floor of the TARDIS outside. You'd think I'd have a hard time going to bed, seeing as how I'm so jazzed for my birthday tomorrow, but nope… I was exhausted.

Dinner & Baseball with the Mayers

Canada Day Sparklers 6 by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

After Mommy and I eventually managed to drag Daddy out of bed, we got him to drive the three of us over to the chiropractor, so that Mommy could get her back fixed. Then it was back over to the fancy supermarket, where we bought the most delicious (and probably most expensive) prosciutto any of us have ever eaten. Which we did!

In the afternoon, we ran a bunch of errands - Daddy got some cables for his new toy, and then we hit up Home Depot, where Mommy bought mulch and a big fan, in order to help us deal with the oppressive summer heat!

After a quick stop at the garden, Mommy and Daddy and I went over to the home of Daddy's friend Shelley. She and her awesome family made us some delicious dinner, and I played really well with her kids in the backyard. Her son Luke showed me how to play baseball... and now it's all I want to do!

Thrift Store Impossibility

Rock Walk by Clover_1[As transcribed by Daddy on July 17th]

Mommy and I had a pretty low-key, quiet morning, and since we were kinda getting a little bit bored, the two of us decided to go out in the afternoon. I suggested going to Value Village (when in secret all I wanted was to go to Tim Horton's).

Somehow, Mommy and I managed to spend over fifty dollars at Value Village - which neither of us actually thought was possible. I got a doll, a coat, an umbrella, and a new dress, while Mommy got curtains and fabric and stuff. Quite the haul! We actually had a great time.

Daddy was late coming home from work again, and I'd been asking Mommy to play with me all day, so Mommy and I threw a slumber party for my toys. We all got in our jammies, played sleepover games, and had a pretty lovely evening!

Unexpected Science Adventure

Urrrrrrr by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on July 16th]

Today started out perfectly normal enough... Mommy and I were getting ready for another summer day of outdoor projects and going to the garden and stuff... when suddenly Grandpa showed up to inform us that Gammy was taking her class on a trip to the Science Centre, and asked if I wanted to go too. I was thrilled!

Grandpa drove me over, where I found Gammy and her entire class waiting for me. First thing we did was go check out the featured reptile exhibit, even though I was a little bit afraid of the rattlesnakes. Gammy's friend Zumurod played in the kid's area with me, which was awesome!

On the way home, I got the rare treat of riding home in the Mini, which was pretty neat because it has an open sunroof. Once I got home, I made sure to commemorate my unexpected adventure by drawing a really nice photograph of myself with Gammy and Zumurod.

Garden Meeting

Frogpond by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on July 15th]

The first thing Mommy and I did this morning was have some food and then head over to the garden for a nice walk and some much-needed weeding and food harvesting. I suppose I had a good enough time. When Mommy discovered that there was a garden association (or whatever it's called) meeting, I expressed a keen interest in attending.

The day was fairly quiet - I had a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch, several hours passed, and then I had yet another one for dinner.

Daddy wasn't home from work on time, so Mommy and I went to the Garden Association (or whatever it's called) meeting, and perhaps not surprisingly, I was bored out of my gourd. Ah well.

Library Card

Canada Day Sparklers 5 by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I had breakfast outside today (Mommy made some delicious coffee muffins), and then we took the bus over to the library by the farmer's market. I had Cinnamon Bunny and my American Girl Doll (Buttercup) along in the stroller... all of the staff thought that I was particularly adorable, especially when I told them their names.

Amazingly, I vividly remembered the library (and was able to explain it to Mommy in great detail in advance of arriving) despite only having been there one time, when I was barely three years old). I had a great time - I got my very first library card and six library books. After that, we hit up the farmer's market... mental note: Never let me bring a stroller with two dolls in it to the farmer's market again.

Anyway, in the afternoon I helped Mommy prime and paint some of the patio furniture. Pretty soon, it'll be time to prime and paint the TARDIS!

Fun with a Hose

Lakefront Crouch by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I walked over to the garden this morning - on the way, I got the idea of inviting my friend Carrieann over, which was pretty much all I could think about the whole time we were there. Her Mommy brought her over right before lunch... we had eggs and bacon, and then the two of us went outside and played.

There was some drama with the garden hose - Carrieann sprayed me with the garden hose, but I didn't like it, because it was cold. I sprayed her, but she didn't like it, because it was cold. Mommy settled things and told us not to play with the hose since nobody liked it - but about ten minutes later we were both soaking wet and running around laughing, so whatever.

Daddy was a little bit late coming home from work last night, but we all had a massive dinner of chicken tenders and mustard greens from our garden. I only liked the chicken.

Taking our Time

Canada Day Sparklers 4 by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

We had those pancakes that we missed out on yesterday for breakfast - they were good! After that, we took it easy for the rest of the morning, and eventually had a nice lunch.

Once lunch was digested, we all headed out for the North of the city, where Mommy and I hit up our favourite craft store for a bunch of odds and ends. Daddy was over in the nearby bookstore, and since we didn't have him following us around bored, we took our time.

We hit up Home Depot for some odds and ends on the way home - I helped Daddy pick out a new drill! We came home, Daddy worked on the TARDIS, and I played on my own.

No Use Crying over Spilled Pancake Batter

Bump on a Log by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

The day started off with a perfectly good emotional breakdown, due to me spilling a bowl of pancake batter on the kitchen floor (we all had oatmeal for breakfast instead). Eventually lunch rolled around, and so we all had a lovely picnic in the back yard, where we ended up staying for a few hours. Just relaxin'.

In the afternoon, Daddy and I walked over to the hair salon so that we could both get haircuts. I was extremely well behaved, and sat calmly while the lady brushed the knots out of my hair.

After Daddy did lots of sanding work on the TARDIS outside, he and Mommy and I went to Home Depot for some odds and ends, followed by a trip to the grocery store. We ordered a massive Greek dinner, and for once I sat perfectly still while we watched a movie!

Cousin-Related Mayhem

Canada Day Sparklers 3 by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Skye and Willow got me out of bed pretty early - we played in my room and stuff, before it was time for me to head off for my last day of Summer Day Camp (perhaps ever, as I'm not too old for the program). Camp was fun - we played a pretty great game of musical chairs.

My cousins and Robin and Brian all came with Mommy to pick me up - we came home and ate sandwiches and ice cream. We all played in my room, which ended up being completely demolished. Like, COMPLETELY demolished.

After a nice afternoon, it was time for my cousins to head home - none of us really wanted them to leave, but they did. After dinner, it was time for me to go to bed - unfortunately we discovered that Nevi had left silly putty and moon sand all over my bed and in room while he was here. So... I got to sleep in my parents' bed instead! Pretty awesome!

Anticipation

Arrrrrrr by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Another fun day at summer day camp... we didn't do any crafts or anything, but we did end the day with a big old massive trip over to the nearby playground, where we all played and had fun. Awesome! Through it all, I was in intense anticipation for the arrival of Robin and Brian and Nevi and Skye and Willow.

Mommy and I stopped by the toy store and the fabric store and stuff, where Mommy got some ideas for my birthday party and birthday presents and stuff, but through it all, I was in intense anticipation for the arrival of Robin and Brian and Nevi and Skye and Willow.

They all finally DID arrive right before bedtime, and I was THRILLED to see them all - we set up a big tent in the back yard for us all to sleep in, but the excitement and the weirdness of sleeping outdoors defeated me, and I ended up in my bedroom.

No Timbit Rash

Rocky Lakefront by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Summer day camp was okay again - I made really good friends with a bunch of the kids there today, so the attention I was seeking / having trouble sharing on Monday and Tuesday was no longer an issue. I made really good friends with this one girl, but, uh... I don't really remember her name.

Another spot of good news is that yesterday Mommy and I went to Tim Horton's and she let me order a chocolate Timbit... and today there is no sign of a rash (which is even more amazing when you consider that the lady at the counter liked me so much that she let me have TWO Timbits for the price of one!).

After Daddy came home from work, I was pretty happy to continue watching that big epic movie trilogy we've been working on as we drank what had to be the best strawberry lemonade ever made in the history of cold beverages. Thanks, Mommy!

Don't Scare the Nee-Nee

Canada Day Sparklers 2 by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Off to summer day camp again this morning! It was good, much like yesterday... although I was somewhat miffed that I wasn't getting all of my friend Claire's attention. Oh well.

Once that was done, Mommy and I watched a cool movie about dinosaurs while we had some lunch. Then, the two of us ran a bunch of errands... we got some groceries, some clothes, and I even got a new toy at Value Village for next to nothing.

On the way home, we saw Nee-Nee walking home as well. I wanted to run up to her and say hi, but Mommy pointed out that she was wearing her headphones. Instead, I ran up to her and just walked behind her for a half a block until she noticed me.

Stern Talking-Tos

Big Berry by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

I was up and awfully demanding right from the get-go, excited to be going to summer day camp. I barked orders at my family members, which only ended up getting me a stern talking-to.

Camp was cool - I had fun and everything, although I was a little disappointed that my monkey sticker was different from every other kid's monkey sticker, and Claire wasn't paying enough attention to me, and afterwards, at the monkey bars, I was having a hard time hanging upside-down, so I threw a tantrum, which got me a stern talking-to.

Once we got home, we watched some television and I freaked out about something-or-other, which got me a stern talking-to. Then Mommy had a nap, and when she woke up she was in a pretty foul mood, so I gave her a stern talking-to.

Morning Berries

Sidewalk by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Once again, I slept in a little bit today - Mommy and Dennis and I got Daddy out of bed, and we dropped Dennis off with Gammy and Grandpa before heading off in search of a strawberry patch. The first one we went to was closed, so we headed back to Linton's, our usual strawberry patch.

We got in a lot of sun and several baskets full of strawberries - the drive home was kinda nice because our haul made the car smell nice and fresh. Once we got home we unloaded our cargo and had some lunch.

In the afternoon I played outside while Daddy finally got around to working on the TARDIS in the backyard, and then I walked with Mommy and Dennis over to the garden. Once we got home, we had a nice dinner of veggies from the garden, and we continued our epic movie screening. I particularly thought one character was hilarious.

Cranky & Fidgety

Canada Day Sparklers 1 by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I had a decent morning as Daddy and Dennis slept in (actually, I slept in a little bit m'self). Once they were up, we had a nice lunch and watched cooking shows on television.

Despite having to repeatedly put up with an often ridiculously cranky attitude every time I didn't get exactly what I wanted during the day, the afternoon was pretty good. We found a nice park we'd never been to downtown, and I got to play in a playground and stuff. Dennis rolled around in the dirt, and we got eaten by bugs.

On the way home, we picked up a few things for dinner, ate dinner, and then I sat down and fidgeted away the evening while we all tried to watch a movie together.

Fireworks?

Cliffs by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Happy Canada Day! Wow, so many big days all in a row... last day of Kindergarten, Gammy's birthday, and now Canada Day. There's a lot to be excited about!

Once we dragged Daddy out of bed, we all had a lovely pancake brunch, and then made plans to go Strawberry picking, which I was very excited about. Unfortunately, once we got to the patch, we discovered that the berries were done for the day (?) so we had a picnic instead, followed by a little mini-hike through the woods. All-in-all, it was okay.

When we got home, we were exhausted (it must be the summer heat, because we didn't hike for very long) and took it easy. My folks were hoping to keep me awake in order to see the fireworks at the nearby park, but I started throwing mini-meltdowns at about bedtime, so... maybe next year. I DID get to play with sparklers out on the front lawn, however. That was awesome.

First Day of Summer Vacation

Tag with Daddy by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today marks the first day of summer vacation, which is pretty awesome! Mommy rang it in with a splitting and massive headache. How fun for her!

We managed to get through the day by playing outside a little bit, playing some video games, watching some videos online, and I actually decided to make a salad for us to eat, which Dennis tried to consume instead.

My friend Amarion and I both discovered that we live on either side of the ravine in my back yard, so we just yelled back-and-forth to each other for a while before he actually climbed up the ravine to visit me! That's right, I'm not even six, and boys are sneaking into the yard to come and see me.

I'm a happy kid living with my parents and our dog in Toronto. I'm goofy, sweet, smart, extremely chatty, and pretty much the cutest kid on the face of the Earth!
