Super Pee-Pee-er

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Man, is it ever cold out there today. So cold, in fact, that it started me hibernating - I actually slept in! As a result, Mommy and I missed going to playschool today. Oh well... it didn't seem to bother me much.

Mommy put me in underpants for almost the whole day, and I had absolutely zero accidents. That made today the single best day for potty training yet - I was so thrilled with myself, I declared to everyone that I'm a "Super Pee-Pee-er!"

I also tested the limits of our computer's RAM by opening all of the applications available on the desktop in attempt to launch my video game. Pretty cool! When Daddy came home from work, I was so engrossed in my games that I didn't even say hi to him - but after dinner I was all his. We played, drew pictures, had a tea party, and I told him how much I love the 'Giant Dump Truck' pillowcase he bought for me before I was born. It made his day.

No Love for Pape Station

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I was all out of diapers today - we didn't realize too far in advance because I've been doing well wearing underpants for the past few days. Anyway, Mommy and I headed out to buy some more diapers at the drug store, only to discover that it was a lot warmer outside than we expected.

After the diaper excursion, I went with Mommy on the subway (Grandpa couldn't give us a drive, as he's off in Las Vegas) to the Doctor's office. I was very well behaved, and since I wasn't the one with the appointment, I didn't freak out.

I had a great ride home on the subway with Mommy - I asked about every single announced stop on the way home (except for Pape) and asked about a million questions about the lady sleeping on the seat across from me. I think the whole train heard me.

Daddy was late coming home from work tonight, but I got to stay up a bit to wait for him.

Stop talking to me, Big Bird!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Poor Mommy had a brutal headache today, and wasn't really up for getting 'up and at 'em' - I made sure I was on my best behaviour and avoided screaming directly in her ears, pulling stuff off of the shelves, banging pots and pans, and starting fires.

I drew a lot of pictures today - I also played my Sesame Street video game quite a bit. It leads to funny situations when I leave the game running after getting bored and leaving the computer. As Big Bird keeps calling over, telling me to play the game, I call back at him from across the room: "Stop Talking to me, Big Bird!"

If anyone had entered the room at the time, not knowing what was going on, I'd have seemed totally crazy.

Eating Snow

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I woke Daddy up this morning by kicking him in the crotch REALLY HARD while he slept. I figured it'd be a great way to start a busy day. After he got up and played with my trains and I in the morning, he and Grandpa installed our fancy new toilet (which had to go in sort of backwards, to fit our tiny bathroom). It's pretty good! We all took turns taking the new toilet for a test drive.

Leslie joined us for lunch, and then with Mommy and Basil we drove out to York Regional Forest for a nice winter hike (I was a bit pokey, as we forgot my sled). We got a little lost, and Daddy and Leslie had to head out in search of the car while Mommy and Basil and I stood by and ate snow. Delicious!

After a quick stop home, we all went out again (sans Basil) for Chinese food. I ate so much I passed out in the car on the way home.

The Funniest Tea Party Ever

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I played with Daddy before lunch - then he and Grandpa went off on a quest to buy us a new toilet, since ours is busted (no luck on the purple one I asked for).

Once they came home, Mommy and Daddy broke out my mini tea set and had a mini tea party with me - I had them rolling around on the floor in hysterics when I pretended to pour milk in their little teacups. For some reason, when I pour the milk, I make a little farting sound. I guess that's what pouring milk sounds like in my head?! They laughed so hard, it just egged me on. Things got pretty crazy.

We did some shopping in the afternoon and went outside to play in the snow (I pulled one of my stuffed toys around in a sled), which was followed by a lovely dinner. My parents put me to bed, and snuck out to a movie...

...and when they came home, they found me passed out on the living room couch, wrapped in a blanket with the TV on. My babysitters didn't hear me get up and groggily look for my folks - when asked, I told them I got up to watch Martha Stewart.

Swallowing Octopus

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy made good on her promise to me last night, and served up some Blueberry pancakes for breakfast. Awesome! The rest of the morning and early afternoon was a bit of a crapshoot, though... I was emotionally delicate, shall we say. The littlest thing would set me off - even the notion that Nana was singing a happy song to me from her place far away made me kinda mad. Weird.

I hung out with my Grandparents, did a lot of painting, and played in the afternoon. Daddy came home from work and joined us all for a big thai dinner... I got to eat octopus for the first time (I think). I didn't chew it - I just swallowed it down. Yikes! No problems, so far. Good stuff - went down easy.

An Unusual Request

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Yesterday was kinda crazy and eventful, so Mommy and I decided to change things up today and take it easy. That meant absolutely no sweets, believe it or not. I helped Mommy with her Pilates this morning, and then got on with playing in my room and stuff.

Mommy and I visited my grandparents - Grandpa and I entertained each other while Mommy and Gammy were able to spend some time together. Gammy thinks we should make afternoon tea a daily occasion - we all think it's a good idea.

After Daddy came home, he and I played with my toys and stuff... but I was so bored after dinner that I actually asked to go to bed. Mommy says that I was such a good girl today, I can have either blueberry pancakes or muffins for breakfast tomorrow.

Party Time

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today was party day! I'd been looking forward to it for ages - this morning, Mommy and I went over to Julie & Sarah's place for Sarah's third birthday party. There were a lot of cool other kids for me to play with... we were all on our best behaviour, were very polite, and managed to share toys. We even got to eat cake! And ice cream! Pretty exciting. We ended up staying later than we planned, and of course, I didn't want to leave.

But... leave we did. The two man-sized pieces of pizza I ate left me pretty gassy... I played in my room, hung out with Mommy, and when Daddy came home from work, he found me playing video games on the computer. It's shocking how good I am with the mouse.

I was out like a light at bedtime... exhausted from a busy day.

Reconnaissance

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy made another tent in the living room for me out of blankets and furniture and clothes pegs - I stayed hidden away in there for better part of the day. I even ate lunch and dinner in there.

This afternoon, Mommy and I went outside to make another snow-sculpture. I wasn't helping much, so Mommy started a snow fight with me - I loved it! What a great time. We went for a little walk, and I plowed through little mounds of snow, and had a blast doing it. I couldn't wait to call Daddy to tell him about it (that and I had to tell him all about the pork I had for lunch).

I asked Mommy for a lollipop, and she told me to lead the way... so I did. I walked all the way to the corner store (with her following right behind) all on my own reconnaissance! I came home and ate said lollipop... in my tent.

Banana Joke

[As transcribed by Daddy]

It's still cold outside, and it's still warm in here, so... you do the math. Mommy made a tent out of blankets and furniture in the living room (a rite of passage for every kid) and I played in there intermittently throughout the day.

I spent a lot of time with my grandparents - I ran around with them, jumped on their bed, hid under their covers, and told them a pretty funny knock knock joke that I made up:

Me: Knock Knock!
You: Who's there?
Me: Banana!
You: Banana who?
Me: Banana who goes in the pillow and eats himself in his tummy!

Isn't this the funniest joke you've ever heard?! Ever?! Man, I laughed at that for hours. Anyway, when Daddy came home I totally forgot about the joke and focused on playing with him in my room. I like it when he gives me toys funny voices.

The 'Play With Clover' Hook

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Wow, is it ever cold outside today. Crazy time! We really wanted to go for a hike today, but that wasn't about to happen (no matter how much I pleaded). Anyway, I hung out with my folks instead... no big whup. We played, tidied, visited with Grandpa... Daddy made Mommy a "fancy breakfast". I was jealous.

After lunch, Leslie came over, and I was pretty excited to see her - Daddy was happy that he was off the 'play with Clover' hook (actually, he LOVES playing with me) so that Leslie could take over. We all went for a drive - I fell asleep, Mommy and Leslie got coffee, and Daddy continued to mess around with his HDRI photos.

We came home, played some more, and had a delicious dinner - needless to say, I didn't want to go to bed when the time came, and fought it every step of the way.

Daddy's Ferodies

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I yelled at Daddy to wake up for breakfast this morning... eventually, it worked! After pancakes, we all went to the chiropractor - I played in the exercise room with the equipment while Babak fixed my parents.

Daddy made me lunch - Perogies ("Ferodies"), which when I told him I liked more than the versions Mommy made yesterday, made his day. Yummy! We played some, and then with Mommy in tow, drove off to sell some used CDs and do the grocery shopping.

After we came home, Mommy and Daddy suffered with pilates-induced injuries, headaches, indigestion, and other various maladies while tidying and playing with me. We all enjoyed some dinner, then Daddy gave me a bath before bed. We had a great time!

The World is a Beautiful Place

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Since our weekly visit to Julie & Sarah's was canceled again today, Mommy and I went for a walk to the drug store for some groceries and stuff. On the way, we passed an ugly, dirty-snow-filled parking lot. I looked at it, turned to Mommy, and profoundly said "The world is a beautiful place, Mommy." We then bought candy.

We had a quiet afternoon of the usual thing - you know, toys, TV, books, trains, and a tent in the living room made of furniture and stuff. I asked to invite 'Happy Halloween" over for a visit.

After Daddy came home from work I was happy to see and play with him, but my mood soured quickly... I threw a tantrum, which led to the cancellation of our visit to the 'battery store.' I screamed and screamed and shrieked and complained until I fell asleep (early).

Miss Independence

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I asserted my independence in a number of ways today:

1. I played alone in my room a lot - just me, my toys, and my imagination. No parents required.

2. I played video games all by myself. I'm getting really good at using the mouse, and aside from a few stray clicks here and there (I loaded Ebay today), I'm really great with the computer.

3. I drew pictures by myself - I rendered a few unprovoked portraits of both Mommy and Daddy, which actually looked like them (more or less). Pretty amazing.

4. While Mommy made a raspberry cake for Grandpa's birthday, I licked all of the cooking bowls clean all by myself.

Playschool Term 2

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I slept in this morning! Amazing! Especially amazing when Mommy and I suddenly woke up at ten after nine and realized we needed ot get to Playschool within the half hour. We quickly got our act together and walked over - I was a little bit pokey, what with all of the pinecone collecting I had to do on the way.

Playschool was fun - fewer kids this time around, and for once I actually took part in the singing and dancing (as well as the toy playing and art stuff). I made some new friends, made a craft for Daddy and Basil, and then came home and had a lengthy nap with Mommy.

I played with Daddy in my room after he got home from work - when it was time for bed, I was completely uninterested. I stayed up and made a fuss for two hours after "going to bed".

Pee Pee

[As transcribed by Daddy]

My late night last night meant I slept in a bit today - Mommy got to enjoy the extra snoozing, but Daddy was off to work early today, so... no sleeping in for him. We managed to leave the television off for pretty much the entire day - Mommy kept me entertained by baking a cake with me, playing with me, reading my new book (written and illustrated by a guy Daddy rode on a plane with once!), and helping the upstairs neighbours move some furniture around.

Today was also a potty training failure. I went through four pairs of panties and just peed everywhere... I got a little frustrated and asked to wear a diaper again. I told Mommy I'd put it on myself - after 15 minutes of wrestling with one, I decided to go for a fifth pair of panties. You can guess how that ended.

Daddy forgot to mention that I watched another movie yesterday - it didn't really blow my hair back, but I liked the parts with the Monkeys.

Reverse Psychology

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy has a headache today - you know what that means... we did a whole lot of nuthin all day! She writed around in pain while I danced all over the house, tearing up bricks of styrofoam, redecorating the house, starting wars, spreading disease. The usual.

Mommy used reverse psychology on me to get me to take a nap today. When I confirmed that I did NOT want to sleep, she convinced me that the only way SHE could nap would be to lie down and rub my back... so I let her, ad I fell asleep quickly. Maybe that's not so much reverse psychology and more of a trick, but... whatever.

Daddy was home from work late, and we had a conundrum - should we all get groceries (way past my bedtime) since we needed 'em, or put me to bed (which can take ages, pushing us past the hours of operation of the supermarket)? My folks opted to take me shopping, which backfired - I didn't go to bed until 10:30, I was so wired. I put up one heck of a fight.

Cop

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Man, did Daddy and I ever have a load of fun while Mommy sewed a present for Corrin. Daddy and I watched TV, played video games, read books, played with my toys, drew pictures... quality time.

Daddy and Mommy and I went over to the MacDermott's house, where we joined the birthday party for Corrin - we made some new friends, saw some old ones, and did a lot of playing and stuff. Pretty fun! I ate a lot of food, spilled some milk, and harassed Jason to slide me around the kitchen floor by my ankles.

On the drive home, we made an illegal left turn, which caused a nearby police officer to LOSE IT on Daddy, who despite being very apologetic and conciliatory, continued to be verbally berated. Mommy was shocked when Daddy had enough and gave the officer a piece of his mind - for a minute there, we all were sure he was going to get arrested and/or shot. The lovely Officer eventually switched off his unmitigated fury and let us go, and my parents then had to explain to me that in theory, not all Police Officers are disgusting human beings. In theory.

I fell asleep with Mommy on the couch after dinner (see photos).

Penelope & The Three Strange Sisters

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I did a lot of playing in my room with Daddy today - I like it when he provdes the funny voices for some of my toys. We hung out, had a quick lunch, and then drove off to pick up Leslie, who I was very happy to see.

Next we all drove down to a Library to catch the puppet show that I've been looking forward to so much for the past few days - I was a very good girl during the performance, and enjoyed the show a lot. I participated when I was supposed to, and afterwards I got to go up on stage and play with some of the puppets (see the above photo). I was also happy to see Daddy's friend Renee and my new puppeteer friends!

We did some shopping along Queen East - I was pretty clingy with Mommy (even though I didn't notice that Mommy and Leslie left me with Daddy during the puppet show). We dropped Leslie off when I was asleep, and then went to the bookstore, where I played in the kid's section, as usual.

I put up quite the fight when it was time for bed... I really wanted to watch a weird movie with Mommy and Daddy.

Tiny Voices of the Mini-Village

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I had a pretty normal sleep last night, and didn't drag Mommy into my bed with me. My folks are pretty happy about that.

Anyway, Mommy and I were gonna go visit Julie & Sarah today, but due to my fever of the past few days, we decided not to risk making them all sick. In the meantime, we did a lot of playing - Mommy tidied my room while I tried to play in the exact places where she was cleaning at any given time. At one point she combined all of my toys (dollhouses, train sets, etc) and made a 'mini-village', which I adored! The sound of me providing squeaky little voices for my little toys is adorable.

Daddy came home from work, played in my 'mini-village' with me, and then took Mommy and I out for Chinese food. I was so tired and prone to crankiness, I'm kinda surprised they thought it would be a good idea.

Fish Flop

[As transcribed by Daddy]

By all accounts, my appetite has returned en force. I had another evening with Mommy last night, however, so our sleeping schedule is kinda screwy. Although I did have a nap in the afternoon, I was up pretty late with my folks, watching another movie (which I wasn't really into).

I spent the day with Mommy, doing some painting, playing with my wooden trains, and that kinda stuff. When it was time for me to take my aforementioned nap, I just kinda threw myself down onto the bed and flooped around like a spastic dead fish.

Daddy was home a little late from work, so I had dinner by myself... afterwards, we went out to the grocery store to get some odds and ends. I love to run away from my folks in the Supermarket, even though they hate it.

Healthy & Cranky

[As transcribed by Daddy]

The good news is that my fever definately seems to finally be vamoosed. The bad news is that Mommy and I didn't sleep well together last night, so we're both kinda off our games - we were so dozy we forgot that today was the first day of the new playschool term. Oops! We managed to run a few errands in any case - you know, dog food and paying American hospital bills.

I didn't have a ridiculously long nap this afternoon to make up for last night's restlessness, so I was kinda cranky towards the end of the day when Daddy came home from work. I had to sit in the naughty chair a few times, and kept freaking out over the littlest thing.

Daddy took me out to buy some more dog food for Basil (who's starving, apparently) and I fell asleep as soon as I was in the car seat. When Mommy woke me up to put me to bed - man, was I mad.

First Movie

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I had sort of a rough sleep last night... we were both up pretty early this morning, had a tub, ate breakfast (or at least a lot of fluids, in my case), and watched some television. My fever came and went during the day - I'm getting pretty familiar with that ear-thermometer thing.

We went for a walk up the street to get sandwiches... I just kinda picked at mine, and fed some of it to the dog. Mommy and I sat down to play some video games - and while they loaded, I fell asleep on Mommy's lap. She thought it was very special. She moved me to the couch, where I spent a few sleepy hours.

After Daddy came home from work, we ate dinner in front of the television and had a movie night - and I watched my first ever movie, about a mouse who likes to cook. I liked the movie, even though I was really fidgety throughout.

Deceivingly Unhealthy

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy snoozed with me last night due to my fever, and neither of us slept so well. I'll give Mommy due credit, however... she didn't really pass out or anything today and kept good care of me. Not that I was too difficult, mind you - you'd never know I was sick, unless you checked my temperature. That and I'm still not eating much.

We took it easy at home today - so easy that we both passed out for a really long nap in the afternoon. After Daddy came home, he invited me out to the video store, and I requested that Mommy stay home with Basil... but after Daddy wrestled with the harness in my car seat for longer than a minute, I asked that Mommy come along after all.

For the second night in a row, I'm not very sleepy. Daddy's gonna take the couch tonight, and I'll hopefully sleep comfortably in his big comfy bed.

Stop Blogging, Daddy

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I didn't eat the fancy chocolate strawberry French Toast Mommy made for breakfast... instead I hung out and played with Daddy. Right after lunch (I didn't eat much of that, either), Mommy and Daddy drove me to the zoo (since the weather is unusually warm). I wasn't in a bad mood or anything, but I didn't feel like going into any stinky animal pavilions for some reason. Still - the Tapir, Gibbons, and Elephants were uncharacteristically animated, even given the melancholy, gray weather.

After that zoo, we went to another one - Yorkdale mall, do try to find me a nice winter coat. It was kinda crazy there, and traffic getting out was equally nuts. We came home, and... I didn't eat much dinner, either.

I couldn't sleep tonight. As of this writing (one in the morning!), I'm up and about, asking Daddy to stop blogging on by behalf so that we can play video games. I have a fever. Things are gonna be wacky tomorrow.

Chocolate Cookies and Clam Juice

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I sorta did Pilates together this morning, and then I managed to watch TV and stay out of Daddy's way as he cleaned up the apartment. We enjoyed a nice lunch together, and then we headed out to run our weekend errands.

First off, I went to the bookstore and played with the toy trains while Daddy sold off some of his CD collection. We drove to buy a new winter coat for me, but I fell asleep in the car (Mommy and Daddy did a lot of other little errands wile I was out). They woke me up when it was time to go grocery shopping, but I was in a foul mood. This was rectified via the use of a chocolate cookie (or four).

After a trip to the butcher's, Daddy abandoned me with Mommy and drove off to pick Leslie up, which made me freak out. He made it up to me when he got home by playing with me a lot. As always, I was happy to see Leslie, but didn't care much for that clam juice Daddy let me try at dinner. Neither did he.

The 'Baby' Argument

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I got into a pretty heated argument with Mommy this morning. I was acting up - she called me a 'baby', and I got pretty upset. Mommy's glasses were knocked off of her face and broken, my leg was slapped, tempers were raised - and then we both calmed down, apologized to one another, and talked it out over a snuggle.

We went with Gammy to the place where she works, and met some of her work-friends, who were all very nice to me. I did some playing in a playroom, got to eat some chocolate... pretty good time. We went to the mall afterwards to exchange some Christmas presents and buy paintbrushes, but for the most part I wasn't into it.

Mommy developed a pretty bad headache - I brought her some toys and pillows and comforted her when I wasn't painting up a storm in the living room. Daddy came home and took us out for dinner, which was nice, and then I fought going to bed... I was too busy teaching Cinnamon Bunny how to draw.

Listening Vs. Talkening

[As transcribed by Daddy]

First 'regular' day back from vacation... it went well, I suppose. I missed Daddy as he went back to work (don't ask him about it)... I kept busy with my artistic pursuits, which included fingerpainting with my new easel. The problem with fingerpainting is that I keep wanting to clean and wash my hands... looks like it's time to buy a brush.

I made some potty training headway today too - thank goodness, because my tummy's been a bit 'off'. I ate an entire bag of Craisins today, so Mommy's nervous about how tomorrow's gonna go.

I rented some movies and got some groceries with my folks before bed - and in the car, I explained to them the finer points of "listening" vs. "talkening".

Return to Toronto

[As transcribed by Daddy]

We were up and at 'em pretty early this morning... Daddy woke up, dug out the rental car, loaded up our stuff, and coralled Mommy and Basil and out into the wintery open road. We said good-bye to Elizabeth, Lola, Olivia, and Oscar (unlike Daddy, Eric was off to work) and had a fairly quiet drive - there was some drama when Basil ate my cheeseburger at lunch and I decided to completely freak out around Trenton, but for the most part it was pleasant and felt fast.

I played with Gammy and Grandpa while Mommy and Daddy headed out for groceries and stuff - when Daddy came back, his hair was all cut off! It really creeped me out... I kept my distance for the rest of the day. His short hair really accentuates the large goose egg (from the crate of Lego Olivia heaved at him) on his forehead.

I got some new presents today, too (which apparently didn't fit in the car over vacation, so we saved them for today), and introduced my new dolls and toys to my old dolls and toys.

Still in Montreal?!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

We all got up and hustled (well, some of us more than others) to get all of our accumulated gear into the car for the long drive home across the 401... but the extreme weather conditions (as in mountains and mountains of blustery, thick, wet, bone-chilling snow and white-outs) put a wrench in our plans. Cooler heads prevailed, and Daddy decided we could stay an extra day in Montreal. Everyone was nice enough to accomodate us.

And what an extra day it was! Along with Eric & Elizabeth's clan, we all hung out at Aunt Diane's place for most of the day, causing a ruckus and driving each other crazy. We did a lot of playing - Mommy and I had a major nap in the afternoon, so we'd be prepared for the arrival of Robin, Nevi, Brian, Skye, a great dinner and a whole lotta chocolate. We ate Frois Gras Yorkshire Pudding. Can you believe that?! Awesome! In related news, G.G. also finally (and definitively) noticed that Daddy's not as thin as he was a year ago.

We said our good-byes, kept the car loaded, and returned to Eric's for bed, ready to bail in the morning. Daddy's not happy about getting the rental car back a day late and missing all the work that's waiting for him at the office... but at the same time, he is.

Snowy New Year!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

It was a winter wonderland in New Hampshire this morning - the snow was deep, thick, and all over the place - lining every tree branch, burying every car... my folks and Jim were up pretty early to shovel. Mommy and I built the biggest snowman we've ever made!

We went to the Milford Diner for (second) breakfast, which was quite nice - we said our good-byes to Nana and headed for Montreal. I swore I could see Aunt Diane's house by the time we hit Concord.

Despite the snow and weather, the drive was pretty easy - stopped for lunch in Richmond, and shot through the Quebec border (for once!). I was really happy to play with my cousins in the basement of G.G.'s house - we had a mini New Year's Eve Party at around 6:00p.m., which was cute. My cousins and I went back to Eric & Elizabeth's for bed, while Uncle Armour and G.G. stayed at Aunt Diane's and partied the night away. Happy New Year!

I'm a happy kid living with my parents and our dog in Toronto. I'm goofy, sweet, smart, extremely chatty, and pretty much the cutest kid on the face of the Earth!
