Marathon Stroll

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today was another good day - Mommy and I headed out for a stroll in the afternoon, and for some reason... we just kept on going and going and going, until Mommy's shoes literally fell apart and we had to take the bus back home. Once we got to the front door, I made the kind of gleeful squeal I usually save for when Daddy comes home from work.

I was petting Basil today and he rolled over onto his back so I could scratch his tummy. Everyone is so glad we get along as well as we do... it must be because I'm always giving him my food.

Lizard Tongue

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today Mommy and I went to the Supermarket with Gamma and Grandpa... I had a pretty good time. All the while, I did my weird lizard-tongue thing, which I've been compulsively doing for the past few days or so. Whatever, it looks cute and makes everyone laugh.

I definately respond to pre-schooler television shows - I will actually watch them (as opposed to 'grown-up' programming, which I ignore). Maybe it's the colours - but it's probably the cute music, which makes me dance.

Mommy and Basil and I met up with Daddy on his way home from work, and we went for a nice walk. As Daddy sang me to sleep tonight, I sucked on my thumb. Maybe I'll make thumb-sucking a habit... I haven't decided yet.

Breastaurant

[As transcribed by Daddy]

All day long, all I wanted was to be breast fed. I must have had, like, ten feedings during the course of the day. If I wasn't being breast-fed, I was being all grumpy and stuff. Mommy actually got angry with me for the first time ever today, I was being so annoying. It lasted for two seconds and she felt super-guilty, but it counts.

When Daddy came home I cheered up and forgot about Mom's boobs. After dinner, a man came over to talk to my parents about my finances. He gave me a bunny rabbit... but I don't think my parents liked him very much. I did a dance and cheered them up.

Crawling to You

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today I played on the floor of the living room, the floor of the bedroom, the floor of the kitchen, and even the floor of the bathroom. After that, I didn't feel like playing - I felt like crying. So I did.

Also, today I crawled TO someone (Mommy, in this case) for the first time. After that momentous event, Mommy and I took advantage of the great weather and went to the drug store for some odds & ends. All signs really strongly indicate that I am gonna absolutely love the outdoors!

Also, be sure to check out Naisa's blog (which Daddy designed) - she posted a photo of her & I when we dropped her off at the airport!

Video Gamer

[As transcribed by Daddy]

After a very light sleep last night, I hung out and had a nice day playing with my folks - I even played video games for a while (see the photo).

Mommy and Daddy and Basil and I took a walk to Richard & Lucie's new studio (still in construction), since it was such a nice day. We hung out for a while, then moseyed on home. Daddy and I danced and sang a lot.

Once again, I haven't been remotely interested in having any naps today. It's kinda starting to wear my parents out a bit.

Chatty

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I had a lot to say today. I talked and talked and talked - none of it made any sense to anyone, but that doesn't bother me in the slightest.

I sang and danced with Daddy after watching Saturday morning cartoons, and then Mommy joined us for a trip to the bookstore, where Daddy bought some books for me (but really, I think they're more for him).

After a quick jaunt to the grocery store, I Visited with Richard and Emilie from next door, with Gamma and Grandpa and Anisa and Anisa's friend Grace, and had the first bath I ever officially didn't like.

I'm a sight for sore eyes

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I wasn't exactly a happy camper today. Actually, that's not true - I was fine when I wasn't being left in my crib to nap. Once Mommy put me in there today, I reallt let her have it - I screamed and screamed and screamed (you know, coffee-burns-on-the-ankle screams). Eventually I'd drift off and snooze, but not without some serious freakouts.

Daddy was pretty late coming home from work today because he was coding something or other. He sure was happy to see me once he got here, though. I'm what they call a 'sight for sore eyes!'

Clingy and Cranky

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Took a long walk with Mommy to Parkview Hills, today, and complained for most of the time - I guess I wasn't so much in the mood for walking in the cold, and just wanted to be held.

When we got back, Mommy and I had a crazy 3 1/2 hour nap on the couch, after which I got a heck of a lot happier. Ate some more chicken, which I love (so much for veganism), and then had a fun bath in my new duck-tub (see above photo).

MEAT

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I was such a sweet, adorable, serene little angel today. I didn't cry, I didn't fuss, and I didn't complain... I just cuddled my Mommy, napped, sat and played happily, and looked beautiful. Mommy and Daddy are both worried that someone slipped me a Valium or something.

For lunch, Mommy introduced a new element into my diet - MEAT. Blended hormone-free chicken, specifically - I really seemed to like it. I had even more when Nick and Alice Panagopoulos came over for taxes and dinner.

Duck

[As transcribed by Daddy]

For the first time, Daddy got to watch me wake up first thing in the morning. For some reason, he found it very emotionally moving - a new person, quite happily waking up after a long sleep, greeting a new and exciting day (which is only gonna consist of soiling oneself and some playing with toys).

A big huge enormous inflatable duck arrived for me in the mail today. I already love baths - now they're gonna be stupendous. I was so happy, in fact, that I stressed the heck out of Mommy.

Before bed, it was another round of 'Take-Gamma's-Glasses-Off-And-Give-Them-Back-To-Her." It's a fun game.

Happy Naw-Rúz

[As Transcribed by Daddy]

Pretty uneventful day for me today - I worked on my crawling, my falling, and my bawling. Didn't feel like napping too much... snoozed on the couch, rather than in my crib.

Today I joined my parents, Gamma and Grandpa, Anisa, and Basil for dinner to celebrate Naw-Rúz. They had medicore sushi, I had carrots. Ah well.

Mommy put me down to bed tonight, instead of Daddy, who was busy playing a video game. They went to a movie with Nick, and I didn't wake up once while Gamma monitored my monitor!

Pincer Grip

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today was a pretty decent, lazy Sunday - I hung out with my folks and basically 'cuted' the place up. Daddy slept in - Mommy left me with him at about nine in the morning, and he fell asleep. While nobody was looking, I crawled across the room.

After my afternoon nap (which didn't last long), Mommy and Daddy and I drove off for some dog food and a leisurely ride out east.

I should mention a few other tidbits... I've discovered that I love eating peas, and that when I pick things up with my left hand, I only use my thumb-and-forefinger - a pincer grip - and when I use my right hand, I use my whole fist to pick stuff up.

Eight Months Old!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I crawled across the floor to a sitting position underneath the coffee table today, and bumped my head. Gotta figure out a way around that.

Mommy and Daddy and I went out for a weekend drive for coffee and stuff - went to some stores and a grocery store for puppies! I got to see the hamsters and birds (which were boring), and the pretty fish (which were cool!). Maybe I'll grow up to be an ichthyologist or soemthing.

Watched part of a movie with Gamma and Anisa before bed. I dunno what it was about, but it made me scream with glee!

Traffic Jammies

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I slept in with Mommy today - spent the morning and early afternoon with her and Naisa. Daddy came home from work early, and we all headed to the airport to send Naisa off to Thailand. First, though, we had to sit through almost 90 minutes of traffic. I hated it.

The airport was awesome... I love it there! I dunno what it is - the big open spaces? The smiling people? Anyway, we said g'bye to Naisa, and then headed home... only to get stuck in another two hours of bumper-to-bumper traffic. Brutal!

Office Snooze

[As transcribed by Daddy]

After weeks and weeks of sleeping through the night, last night I woke up at 2:00am and waited for Daddy to sing me back to sleep.

Today Naisa and Mommy and I took the subway to see Daddy at work. We got some lunch and all three of us had a nap on his comfy couch as he worked on some banners and stuff. I met some of Daddy's friends, and then Gamma came and drove us all home.

Daddy and Mommy and Naisa went out again for Mongolian food after I went to sleep tonight - so I made sure I woke up as soon as they got home. Daddy had to sing me to sleep... again! Sucker!

Creepy Crawler

[As transcribed by Daddy]

So, I spent most of today just hanging around with Mommy and Basil and Naisa. I was in a pretty awesome mood for most of the day - so good that I didn't want to nap (I fell asleep while we all watched a movie, anyway).

I crawled across the floor (approx. four feet) to grab ahold of Basil's rawhide bone... but as soon as that video camera came out, I conveniently 'forgot' how to crawl.

Naisa!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I stood up from a prone position several times today (unaided), and did an awesome Darth Vader impression before feeding Basil my lunch. Went to the mall with Mommy and Gamma, too.

After Daddy came home from work, he drove me to the airport. I really liked it there - it was so cool! Big, spacious, and lotsa of people for me to happily scream at. Our friend Naisa was there, and we brought her home. She's so cool - I can't stop smiling at her! She made me a teddy bear and brought me some books. She can come over any time she wants.

Toysplosion!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I hung out with Mommy today as it rained, poured, and fogged outside. We took out all of my toys, put 'em all over the living room, and made sure that there was a 'toysplosion' waiting for Daddy once he got home (and boy was I happy to see him!).

Tomorrow, Etana's aunt Naisa is coming to visit us for a few days on her way through to Thailand. I wore some booties she knitted for me today (but no pants).

Happy Birthday, Mommy!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

This morning the weather was gloomier than the freakishly warm and sunny day we had yesterday, so Mommy was sad on her birthday.

But then it got sunny! Mommy was so happy! We drove up North to York Regional Forest with Basil... where it was grey and slippery. We went for a hike that lasted for about all of ten minutes. Mommy was sad on her birthday again.

We went home, dropped Basil off, and went for a walk along Queen Street... it was sunny and nice again! Yay! Everyone was happy! We visited Mommy's friend Carol in an underwear store. Quite spontaneously, I started actually sucking on my pacifier for the first time.

Maybe THAT'S what it's for.

Stratford and Guelph

[As transcribed by Daddy]

What a perfect, fantastic day! It's Mommy's birthday tomorrow, so her & Daddy let me join them on their annual tradition of travelling to Stratford, Ontario to celebrate... and I was a perfect, joyful little angel!

We went to an Italian restaurant and I entertained all the wait-staff and the other diners - the cauliflower I brought along sure looked good on the floor. Then we went for a nice walk in the park where Daddy first proposed to Mommy.

Next up, we drove to Guelph to visit my Great-Grannie, who made us all dinner. I was really happy to see her, and couldn't take my eyes off of her! I had a ball writhing around on the floor of her apartment.

I hope all of Mommy's birthdays are as great as this one was! Daddy keeps remarking about how perfect I was, and how perfect the day was.

Lineups and Cake

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Gamma drove Mommy and I to a place in Scarborough so Mommy could get her Health Card renewed. Unsurpisingly, I made friends with the people waiting in line with us. We went to an organic grocery store, were frigtened off by the prices, came home, and made a birthday cake together. I was very helpful - I took all of the oranges out of their bag, scattered all of the plastic utensils all over the kitchen floor, and just generally looked cute.

My diaper fell off at some point last night, and I pooped in my pajamas. Serves my parents right for continually trying to trick me into eating squash.

Papercut

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I was in a good mood today so long as someone was carrying me around. Towards the end of the day, when I had a bath, I was a little less hard-to-please, but yeah... I enjoyed being held.

I forgot to mention that I got a papercut the other day, but only Mommy noticed. It's probably because I'm always eating flyers, newspapers, magazines, or crinkly paper, and in the process of devouring an encyclopedia or something, I got a litte slice on my finger. Whatever... it wasn't so bad.

Convulsing with Disgust

[As transcribed by Daddy]

"Happiest Baby Ever" Clover Long reporting. Today was pretty good - hung out with Mommy and Basil and stuff... went to the supermarket with Mommy and Gamma and Grandpa, and smiled at all the strangers. A nice lady told Mommy that I'm the cutest baby she's ever seen... and I didn't put her up to it or anything.

Went with Mommy and Basil to meet Daddy as he got off of the bus on the way home from work. I was pretty confused - where does he go all day?! And what was he doing on a bus?!

Daddy was also proud of his old 'chip off the ol' block' at dinner - we determiend that eating squash makes me convulse with disgust. My folks still haven't stopped laughing - they even called Gamma down to watch!

Wednesday, March 08, 2006

"Aaaaak!"

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today Mommy took me for a long walk around the neighbourhood - I enjoyed the first two-thirds, and then screamed and complained for the final third.

When we came home, I was really happy to hang out in my jolly jumper - I started screaming at the dog (I was trying to get his attention), and liked the sound I made so much I kept doing it for about an hour.

I've also figured out how to pick myself up to a standing position using the bottom-drawer of the dresser, my little plastic scooter thing, and Mommy's hair.

Monday Monday

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Another great, eventful, happy day! Last night, I slept from 8:00pm to 7:00am!

Today, I went for a walk outside with Monmmy, and peed in my pants. Avocado for dinner, zucchini for lunch. Played with Basil and Mommy's toy dog Homer, and even danced with Gamma. I repeatedly tried to pull myself up to a standing position using Mommy's hair, and went to bed after Mommy read a book to Basil and I and Daddy sang to me. Another Monday in the can!

Cookies for Basil

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today was such a happy day! The sun was shining and the food was great. I wiggled and laughed and even had the occasional nap! I also discovered that it's really funny to feed my food to the dog. He loves it when I drop cookies for him on the floor. I think that we've become friends for life.

After I had a nap with Daddy while watching TV, he and Mommy had to run out to get some groceries, so I hung out with Anisa and Gamma, and ate their television remote controls while they tried to watch DVDs. When Mommy and Daddy came back, we all took Basil for a nice walk around the block.

Tonight Nick and his friend Cat came over to watch television with my folks. Nick brought me a very bright and cute quilt that his mom quilted for me! Isn't that sweet? I missed out on all the fun because I had to go to bed... but still, I like being cute for new people.

Na Na Na Na

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today, after a night of light sleeping, I ate the first third of Daddy's copy of the latest issue of Spin (it's okay - he says it's 'a dumb magazine anyway') while he and Mommy tried to catch up on movies they've missed seeing this year prior to tomorrow's Oscars. Ah, the sacrifices they make for me.

I went for a walk with my folks and Basil late in the afternoon, since the temperature was tolerable. We're all looking forward to more outdoor-time once the weather becomes agreeable).

While he was putting me to bed, Daddy sang a song to me today, and I actually learned to recite the lyrics with him. I bet I was awfully cute!

"Basil" refers to the... ...dog?

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today I finally put two and two together and realized that the word "Basil" is what Mommy and Daddy use to refer to the dog. They say "Basil" and I look right at him now.

Speaking of Basil, after Mommy and Gamma and I went to Future Shop to buy video games and then to the Library, I laughed and laughed as he did his 'cookie dance.' I also laughed hysterically at Grandpa's beard after dinner. What can I say... it's hilarious!

Lemme At Those Boobs!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

This morning I managed to pull myself back up onto my knees, and I played with Mommy - you know, peek-a-boo, hide-and-seek-with-my-shoes, patty-cake, gently-smash-my-head-into-Mommy's-head, did some howling with Gamma and Grandpa, and had a really long nap.

Ergo, I refused to sleep during the rest of the day. I attempted to tear Mommy's breasts off, and when she took them away from me, I freaked out. I really wore her out this afternoon.

Welcome Back Grandpa

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Grandpa came home from Florida last night - I was soooo happy to see him! I made sure I smiled and waved at him as often as possible. I guess that's what made me so clingy today... I'm nervous another family member will up and take off for some convention somewhere.

Sometimes the mirrors in Gamma & Grandpa's bathrooms are really confusing. I wave to their reflections, but then, like, they're actually standing there next to me. But then I seem them in another mirror, and... aww, I'm already getting all confused just thinking about it.

Four Outfits

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I wore four different outfits during the course of the day today, due to the fact that I repeatedly got food and/or pee all over myself.

I was also abnormally hungry (hence all the food and pee). I had breakfast, second breakfast, a pre-lunch snack, lunch, a post-lunch snack, a mid-afternoon snack, dinner, and second dinner.

BURP

I'm a happy kid living with my parents and our dog in Toronto. I'm goofy, sweet, smart, extremely chatty, and pretty much the cutest kid on the face of the Earth!
