Baby Ghanouj

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I woke up in an awesome mood - my emerging teeth seem to have given up and retreated to the gums from whence they came. Yay!

Mommy needed some eggs to bake a carrot cake, so we went next door to visit Lucie and co. to borrow cooking stuff. All I had to do was wave at everyone, and they gave me a puppet in return!

I was a bit bratty and demanding later in the day - at one point I started scowling and doing Kung Fu / Kata moves while shouting 'baby obscenities' at Mommy.

Gluing rice to my face

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Ah, a nice, lazy Sunday. I had a lot of great rolling-around time today, Gamma made me laugh, I ate some zucchini (which I think is a pretty awesome vegetable) and some sweet potatoes - which Mommy ruined by baking them instead of boiling them. I used them to glue some rice to my chin.

Mommy was kind of zonked from staying up last night, so the two of us had really long naps during the day, cauing us both to miss the Olympic Closing Ceremonies. Oh well.

An Afternoon with Daddy

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today Mommy had a coffee date with her friend Daniele, so it was just Daddy & I hangin' out at home today. We didn't do much... I helped him wash the dishes.

Later on in the afternoon we went to a couple of bicycle stores to check out the merchandise - we're all looking forward to doing some riding once the weather improves.

Finally, before bed tonight I clawed at Mommy's eye with my sharp little talons. She has a nice gouge in her face now.

Pick It Up!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Daddy was at work all day! I was in bed by the time he got home! He'd better be missing me... Mommy had to sing me to sleep tonight, since he wasn't around. I'll be honest - it was a nice change.

Anyway, I made Mommy and Gamma and Anisa and Grandpa laugh today when I invented a new game - they give me an object, and then I drop it to see if they pick it up and give it back to me. Then I do it again. And again. And again! Loads of fun.

Oh, and a big shout out to my friend Etana, who turns one whopping year old today!

Toys

[As transcribedby Daddy]

I was a bit moody again today - my gums are still killin' me. I whined a lot and I do this silly sitting-dance thing where I shake my arms up and down, as though I'm all frustrated and stuff.

The other day a bunch of weird and silly toys arrived in the mail for me - a lot of them are pretty cool, even though I can't figure thenm out. Mommy and I played with them a bunch today... but to be perfectly honest, I still prefer playing with the television remote to anything else.

The Wavingest Baby on the Subway

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I seemed pretty cranky again this morning - an exhausted Mommy decided to take me to the Doctor's to see if I have an ear infection. The Doctor gave me a complete bill of health (and no needles this time!), but Mommy and I sure did spend a lot of time downtown today. I waved to as many strangers as I could convince to wave back on the subway today. When nobody paid me any attention, I growled. Aside from that, the subway seemed to do the trick... I'm in a great mood again!

After being strapped to Mommy in the carrier for something between three and four hours today, we figure she can get away with not doing her Pilates tonight.

Foul Mood

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Not much to update - I'm still grumpy, still grouchy, still cranky, and still fussy. I don't like food, I don't like playing, I don't like sleeping, I don't like Mommy or Daddy or Basil, and every time I accidentally touch my mouth, I yell a lot.

Every night at 8:00pm, Daddy carries me around in my room and sings to me while listening to a playlist he made for me on his iPod. I usually fall asleep midway through the second lullabye. Anyway, the baby monitor picks up his vocals and sends them to the living room, where Mommy has no choice but to listen. Once I'm asleep, she gives him a critique. Tonight he got a biiiiig 'thumbs down'. He keeps saying it's because he has headphones on and can't hear his own voice... but we aren't buying it.

But what can I say... I do like it. It relaxes me and always puts me to sleep.

Go Away.

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I woke up with a fever and really really sore gums. Don't get me wrong, I was happy to see Nana and Jim (who left this morning), but this teething thing really sucks and puts me in the worst mood. Now and then there are a few happy moments, but there's like a little baby-sized stormcloud floating over my head. I keep trying to eat things and put them in my mouth, but that only makes it worse. On top of that, I'm sleeping really lightly - so I've had a bunch of naps, but they don't last long. Grumpy grumpy grumpy!

Woe is Clover!

Seven Months (and one day) Old!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Daddy was wiped out from NOT doing Pilates yesterday, and as a result forgot to mention that yesterday I turned seven months old. He'll put a video clip online shortly.

What a surprise for me today - Nana and Jim came to visit! And they brought me toys! I had a blast hanging out with everyone, and waving at anyone who would let me (including myself). I have to admit, being the centre of attention is the best. At one point, I got to try eating my first spaghetti noodle. It was... weird.

Nana kept trying to take my photograph, but the red eye reduction-light kept making me squint my eyes. Jim called me a 'pretty li'l punkin.' Isn't that sweet?

Daddy's Girl

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today was aaalll about Daddy & I. We played togehter this morning and laughed a lot - we went out (with Mommy) to the grocery store and shared a few moments, and then to the bookstore, where we made each other laugh.

As usual, Daddy sang me to sleep, and once I was out like a light, he and Mommy went to a movie. However, I decided to wake up while they were gone, so Gamma and Anisa came down and carried me around a bit. I was really happy to see Mommy and Daddy come home - because it meant that Daddy got to sing me to sleep for a second time!

Charlotte, Clover, and Charlotte

[As transcribed by Daddy]

The best time of day for me is early in the morning - Daddy never wants to go to work anymore, because I'm always in such a fun, playful, happy, and silly mood before noon. I'm a morning person.

I refused to have a nap all day - Mommy and I went to one of our post-natal gathering-things and we hung out with the two Chatlottes and their Mommies. When Gamma came to take us home, I had fallen asleep before the car left the driveway!

My Daddy sucks at Pilates

[As transcribed by Daddy]

So, remember that tooth that was coming in the other day? Apparently, it's playing hide and seek - it's shrunk back into my gums like a turtle head. I'm still gnawing things like crazy though.

I'm waving at people more now, and get this - I've actually learned how to turn my electronic mobile on and off all by myself. Pretty cool, huh?

Funny Day

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today everything was funny. I laughed at everything from Mommy's hair to the TV to the floor to Gamma and Grandpa to the air. Yup... funny stuff! The bunch of went grocery shopping during the afternoon, and I was the star of the supermarket.

I'm starting to mimic things, too. I saw Grandpa waving at me this afternoon, so I waved back, just for the heck of it. It seemed to go over well, but now it's like everyone expects me to do it all the time. First thing this morning, Daddy tried to get me to say 'Da Da', like he always does, so I humored him just this once. I have no idea what the heck 'Da Da' means, but whatever.

Also, another new baby-pal was born the other day - my friends Ted & Lindsey welcomed Geneviève to the world on the 13th! Hi, Geneviève!

Behold - a TOOTH!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Well, it is official. My first tooth is emerging from my lower gum as this is being typed. I guess it's making me a bit cranky, but nothing my folks can't handle. In fact, after they out me to bed tonight, they were able to both head out for dinner, while Grandpa and Anisa babysat me.

Well... maybe they didn't babysit "me", but rather the little baby monitor microphone-egg thing. Whatever, same thing for all intents and purposes.

Crafty

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today Mommy and Basil & I (but mostly just Mommy) spent a good part of the day making a nice little Valentine for Daddy. It had a poem and photos and an origami heart - I even used fingerpaints to put my handprint on it. Daddy absolutely loved it!

For a few moments here and there during the day, I had brief periods of extreme fury and throbbing, "cappucino-burns-on-the-foot" purple-faced anger. Then they would subside. Am I teething? Maybe.

Toothless Wonder

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Somehow, I've eaten through another toy - without actually having any teeth! After biting the nose off of my cow toy (to go with its severed legs), I bit a hole through my neat little teething ring.

Mommy and Daddy and I went for a lovely drive out in the direction of Georgina, then stopped at the supermarket on the way home for more groceries - and a new teething ring.

Hypnotized

[As transcribed by Daddy]

So, the Olympics are on, so I had no choice but to watch a lot of it with my folks. I guess this'll be my lot in life for the next few weeks. Anyway, I took a walk with Basil and Mommy and Daddy in the afternoon - it was cold, but I enjoyed the fresh air.

Anyway, so Mommy and Daddy have this screensaver installed on the computer that completely captivates me. It's really pretty... it's impossible to feed me at times, because I can't tear my eyes off of the screensaver. Mommy just ends up spooning pureed spinach onto the side of my hypnotized face.

Pppphtt

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I bit the legs off of my cow toy today. Not an easy feat when you ain't got no teeth!

All I had to say today was "Ppphhhhttt." If you asked me any question, my response would have been "ppphhhhttt." While Mommy and Daddy and I visited Anisa and Gamma and Grandpa for dinner, I had a few additional squeals and happy shrieks, but after that it was pretty much back to "Ppphhhttt."

I also should mention that that Daddy is forgetful. The other day on the blog we mentioned that Nevi's letter was the first I ever recieved. Mommy reminded Daddy that my friend Etana sent me one this past Christmas.

Stupid Daddy! Sorry, Etana.

Get over here, Basil!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

So I'm hanging out in my jumper today, trying to get the dog's attention, and he wouldn't come over and play with me, no matter how much I yelled at him. Mommy called him over - I was happy when he walked towards me, but when he went right past me - essentially giving me the cold shoulder - I got REALLY mad and yelled some more.

Finally, he came over and started kissing me. I was so glad to get his attention that I laughed and kissed him back. I really like that dog - he's a good friend.

Wearing Mommy Out

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Last night, Mommy and Daddy decided to sleep in the room with me again (as opposed to the living room, where they've been sleeping while getting me used to snoozing alone). I guess because they were there, I woke up a bunch of times (maybe it was Daddy's snoring... or Basil's) and as a result, Mommy didn't get much sleep.

Mommy had a brutal headache all day, and I was in one heck of a bad mood. I completely wiped her out - she had to call Daddy at work this afternoon and get him to come home early to get me to go to sleep. Once I woke up, the rest of the day was fine.

A Letter from Nevi

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today I got a letter in the mail from my cousin Nevi (that's him in the photo above). I think that's the first letter I've ever received... well, not counting the bill from the hospital when I was born.

In the letter, he expressed hopes that when we next see each other, we can climb in and out of boxes together, and sing the 'E-I-E-I-O' song. I think that'd be cool. I'd better practise.

Crawling

[As transcribed by Daddy]

It's official - I can crawl. Sideways! I lie on my back and then I roll over onto my front. And then onto my back. And then onto my front. So, strictly lateral movement is where it's at.

While Mommy's back was turned, I roll-crawled over to the TV cabinet, reached in, and removed the collection of allen-wrenches next to the PlayStation 2. Mommy has since locked that cabinet.

Mommy's box of organic veggies arrived in the mail. I ate some of them off of the kitchen floor (see the above photo).

"Roger Roger, this is Clover coming in... Over"

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Anticipating a time when I start using Daddy's CD-shelves to pull myself up to either stand or walk, today he and Grandpa made a big mess (and a huge deal) out of drilling and screwing them into the walls of our apartment. You wouldn't think it would take hours and hours to drill four holes, but it did.

Daddy made it up to me by squealing at me, which had to be the single funniest thing I've ever heard in my life - I couldn't stop laughing!

Finally, tonight we're using the fully-charged baby monitor. My parents think it's adorable when they can now hear the transmitted sound of me coughing and grunting in my sleep from the other room...

Sleet

[As transcribed by Daddy]

We were all set to take a nice walk this afternoon, but when we opened the door, a gale-force wind and a lot of rainy snow blew into our faces.

So, we went to the mall instead and bought a new battery for the phone, a weather guard for my stroller, and a baby monitor for me.

Incidentally, Grandpa babysat me this morning while Mommy and Daddy were at the chiropractor... but I was asleep the whole time and only heard about it after they got back.

Dancin' Machine

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today I had fun dancing with Gamma... whenever she sings "Barbara Ann" I can't stop myself from wiggling at her! It's a lot of fun. Anyway, today when she sang it, Basil danced too. It was pretty cute.

At one point today, Mommy actually sang me to sleep. When she tried it later in the afternoon, I decided I wasn't gonna fall for that again - so I sang with her.

Scene of the Crime

[As transcribed by Daddy]

As you can see from the attached picture, my Beaker toy finally turned up. Mommy was the first upon the grisly scene... she'll probably be having nightmares for weeks.

We've no proof, but we think we know who the culprit is. We just wonder who, if anyone, helped him stash the body under the dresser.

Pants Head

[As transcribed by Daddy]

For the third morning in a row, I woke Daddy by karate-chopping him in the throat. Funny stuff!

I made my scrunched-up happy face a lot today... at one point a pair of my pants ended up on my head, which was hilarious - check out the above photo.

Have I mentioned how much I love zucchini? I totally eat that stuff right up. Daddy thinks I must get that from Mommy, and he's worried I'll be enjoying squash and yams soon, while he sits there making 'icky' faces. I also tried some vegetable wafer-things today - of the five Mommy gave me, two ended up in my tummy, and three ended up in Basil's tummy.

Look at me!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I woke up Daddy this morning by shoving my fingers into his nose. While he was at work, Mommy and I went to visit the chiropractor... and I had a nice two-hour nap in the morning.

After he came home from work, we spent some time puttin' on a show for the people upstairs, who love to watch me while I wiggle and dance.

What can I say - I hate to disappoint my adoring fans.

I'm a happy kid living with my parents and our dog in Toronto. I'm goofy, sweet, smart, extremely chatty, and pretty much the cutest kid on the face of the Earth!
