The Playmobil Pool

Dangling by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on March 4th]

So a while back, Nana sent me a gift of twenty bucks. I've meant to spend it a lot of times over the past month or two - I even went shopping with Daddy a while ago to buy something - but couldn't ever settle on what I wanted.

Seeing as how that money was totally burning a hole in my pocket, today I sent Mommy to the toy store to go and buy the Playmobil Pool that I've had my eye on for AT LEAST a year. I gave her pretty specific instructions... she was to buy it today while I was at school, and then put it together while I was away so it could be there when I get home.

I was happy to come home from school and find the Playmobil Pool thing, all set up in my bedroom for me to play with. Thanks, Nana!

Chicken Caesar Salad

Asulkan Trail 08 by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on March 4th]

At school today, we started on a pretty massive project... one in which all of the kids in my class (or perhaps more?) make a big quilt out of foam puzzle mats and things. We get to make them about whatever we want, but need to make sure they speak to ourselves, and what kind of people we are. I chose to make mine about chicken caesar salad.

After school today, Mommy and I rushed over to my weekly swimming lesson... and my instructor wasn't there. Soon all of the other classes had started, but my instructor never showed up! We were kinda annoyed.

We had Sparks in the evening after a quick dinner. It was pretty good - my friend Helena had a lot to talk about and discuss.

Optical Course

Missing Teeth by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on March 4th]

I woke up this morning and was quite happy to have discovered a credit card-sized note from the tooth fairy, which makes sense... I always imagined that she was very small, and would have teeny tiny handwriting as a result. I was not let down.

This afternoon, Grandpa and Daddy drove me over to the toy store so that I could buy a present for my friend Sam. I bought a Transformer, because Sam likes those. Then it was home again, and then my parents drove me to Sam's party, which was only a block away from where the toy store was! The party was at an indoor beach volleyball place, which was pretty cool. We played lots of fun games... there was even an obstacle course, which I kept calling "Optical Course".

At the end of the day, Daddy's friends Nick and Lisa and Claire's Mommy came over for the Annual Oscar party, which makes no sense to me. Why would anyone have a party where they just sit around watching television?

A Big Day in Dental History

Bowl by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 29th]

This morning I enjoyed a breakfast sandwich, and when I went to the bathroom to brush my hair afterward, I was shocked to discover that I had somehow lost a tooth while eating. Mind you... it wasn't the really loose one. It was the tooth NEXT to the loose one that I lost. I panicked when I thought I might have swallowed it, but Mommy found it on the floor.

The day was fine - I had a good piano lesson, and after that Mommy and I went over to Julie and Sarah's house. It was great!

At the end of the day - right after I wrote a letter to the tooth fairy to put under my pillow with my tooth, I pulled out my OTHER tooth all by myself. To say that I was ecstatic is an understatement. That tooth fairy won't know what hit her tonight... two teeth in one day!

No Storm

Ruckle Point 4 by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 28th]

So, last night we all heard about this monstrously crazy snowstorm that was supposed to come out of nowhere and completely wipe us all out. Considering that we've been languishing in semi-warm springtime weather all winter long, it kinda made everyone feel like we were gonna be punished.

This morning we all woke up only to discover that... well, there was no storm. Nuthin'. No snow on the ground, no blizzard, nuthin'. Midway through the day, we got hit with some gross freezing rain, but that was about it. Looks like we dodged a bullet... for now.

Once I got home from school today, I retreated into my room and drew all over the walls with dry-erase markers. It was a blast! Mommy's idea of coating the place in whiteboard paint was a great idea.

Obscene

Loose Tooth by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 28th]

So, here's an interesting blog entry for Daddy to write. First of all, after school, Mommy went over to my class and visited with Mrs. Bradley, who had nothing but amazing things to say about me. She thinks I'm smart, fun, and seems to think I'm totally thriving in our class. She says it's very important that I stay challenged moving forwards.

That's not really the interesting, part, though. Once I got home from school, I drew a picture that really made me laugh. Mommy came over to see what I had drawn, and was shocked to discover that I had illustrated my very first obscene drawing! I don't need to go into details here, but needless to say, it was kinda inappropriate.

Mommy explained that I shouldn't draw stuff like that... but I'm pretty sure that I could tell that she and Daddy were holding back laughter the entire time.

Jumping on the Couch

Sunny Eye by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 26th]

The weather was unusually warm again today, which I suppose fits with the winter we've been having. Claire came home for lunch with me today, and the two of us had a lovely and quiet noon hour, eating our lunches and then playing in my room. Alas, I'm not allowed to climb on or jump on the furniture here (at least not while anyone is looking), so we had to entertain ourselves politely.

This was not the case after school, when I went over to my friend Anton's house. I really get along well with Anton's Mom... maybe because she actually lets me jump and hop on the couch! Seriously... I think I must've been jumping and hopping on their couch for, like, the entire time. So much fun!

Then it was time to go home, where I'm not allowed to jump on the couch. Ugh, my parents can be such a drag sometimes.

A Musical Day

Snow Hike by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 26th]

I woke up this morning thinking it was Monday. Man, that whole Family Day long weekend thing really screwed up my internal clock. Tuesday. Today is Tuesday. Got it.

It was a pretty busy day at school today - I had Selwyn Singers at lunch, which was pretty cool... we sang and stuff, even though my regular singing instructor (who also happens to live a few doors down from me) is away yet again. No prob - I really like the substitute. After school, I had band practice... the recent enthusiasm for piano playing that I've been having is paying off!

Once I got home, I discovered that Mommy had painted the big wall in my bedroom with whiteboard paint - just like the stuff lining the walls at Daddy's office. I can't wait to draw on the walls!

The Petition

Stonewall by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 24th]

It's Family Day in Ontario, a unique holiday in which nothing is open and everyone has the day off. So... Mommy and Daddy and I had a quiet morning, and I dealt with the fact that I wasn't gonna have swimming lessons as usual. I really really love my swimming lessons.

After lunch, we all hopped in the car and drove out to the Bruce trail, where we found a new chunk to explore. There was still a little bit of snow on the ground, so we had a good time trudging through the wintery wilderness. For some reason I held Daddy's hand the entire time, which he thought was really sweet.

Once we got home, I decided to put together a petition to the General Mills Cereal company, in order to persuade them to bring back Yummy Mummy and Fruit Brute cereal. I got all my stuffed animals and toys to sign it. My parents were pretty impressed... nobody put me up to that.

Alexa

Car Seat Portrait by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 24th]

Mommy and Daddy and I kinda wasted away the morning... we took it pretty easy, ate some breakfast, watched some television, played some games on the computer and stuff. Eventually we got the lead out and ate some lunch. Er, we didn't eat lead for lunch. You know what I mean.

Daddy drove Mommy and I over to Fairview, so that Mommy could exchange the robe Daddy and I bought her for Valentine's Day. Returning it was no problem, but unfortunately she couldn't find anything good enough to replace it with.

Next, we all drove straight over to Lisa and Leo's house. There were lots of snacks - Lisa and Matt had stuff, plus we picked up goodies from the supermarket on the way. Leo and I played really well together, and we all got to meet Alexa, Leo's brand new baby sister! She's small. I was probably more interested in the gluten free cookies Lisa had, to be honest.

Rockin' The Suburbs

Bass by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 21st]

Mommy and Daddy and I were all up pretty early this morning to big a fond adieu to Cool Uncle Gareth, who headed back to You Nork City today (courtesy Gammy and Grandpa). The rest of the day was fairly normal, considering it wad the start of the long weekend.

I had my piano lesson in the afternoon, which went awesome (although my teacher says I need to watch my posture). After that, Mommy and Daddy took me with them as they ran a bunch of errands. We even went to Old Navy and bought some clothes and stuff.

In the evening, I played my piano while Daddy played his new bass guitar (see photo). I think the two of us might even form a band... but first he has to finish the work he brought home from the office.

Mommy: 0 Clover: 3

Upside-Down Again by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 21st]

Things did not start off well today. Mommy's been urging me to clean my room for days, and seeing as how today is a P.A. day, well... the plan was to take care of that. Instead, I decided to lie face-down on my bedroom floor (technically, I guess you could say I was planking) and sob. So... Mommy came in and cleaned my room for me, throwing out a lot of my old toys. I didn't give her the satisfaction of being upset about that.

Mommy WAS going to take me out to lunch, but since I was so difficult, she made crappy hot dogs. Little did she expect that I would be VERY happy to have crappy hot dogs. So... I won there, too.

Today was my last full day with Cool Uncle Gareth, so he took me to the toy store to buy me some stuff (I WIN AGAIN) and he even gave me the antique desk G.G. left him before she died, which looks awesome in my wonderfully clean room.

Daddy came home with a new bass guitar in hand... every time he practices, I practice my piano playing. I dunno if that was his intention, but my folks are glad.

Wiggly Tooth

Party Girl 2 by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 20th]

We had a supply teacher at school today, which was fine... we read a story about a frog. Any day with a story about a frog in it is a pretty good day. Also at school, we practiced for folk fest with a few square dances and the like.

At the end of the day, I went over to Gammy and Grandpa's place and helped Cool Uncle Gareth make his specialty for dinner - authentic Mexican tacos (and as usual, a second dinner just for Nee-Nee).

I'm also happy to report that one of my front teeth (along the bottom) is extremely wiggly now! I can even slide it over and move it behind the one next to it, it's so loose. But don't anyone come near it. I'm very happy to let it come out on its own, thank-you very much.

...break your Momma's back

Car Smile by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 20th]

Today was a little bit difficult for everyone. I dunno if it was the amount of sleep I had last night or all of the activity with Cool Uncle Gareth being home and everything, but I was pretty moody all day long. As far as we can tell, school was fine... it was everything else.

When Mommy picked me up at the playground after school, she told me it was time to go... and I kinda kicked her. Her response was to take me home immediately. I was so mad, I passive-aggressively stepped on EVERY SIDEWALK CRACK on the way home. Mommy thought this was pretty funny, which made her laugh, which just made me angrier. Not the effect I was going for.

Anyway, I was happy to play with Cool Uncle Gareth at home. Oh! And the report card I brought home the other day was good, so... nobody can stay annoyed with me for too long.

Step on a crack...

Waffle Cone by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

Happy Valentine's Day! Daddy and I started the day off by giving Mommy the card we made her as well as the fancy bathrobe. Then, it was off to school, where my friends and I exchanged cards and lots and lots of candy! So awesome. Valentine's Day is pretty great.

When school was finished, I was shocked to see who came to pick me up: Cool Uncle Gareth! I dropped all my gear and ran across the schoolyard to tackle-hug him. He and I played Lego and stuff in the afternoon... and he taught me about not stepping on sidewalk cracks (so as to not break my Momma's back).

Mommy made a fancy Valentine's meal of lasagna and crème brûlée. I had to run and hide when she broke out the blowtorch to prep the dessert.

Ants on a log?!

Elevator by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 15th]

Back to school today, and it was pretty good. The temperature kinda dropped again (it's really been up-and-down a lot over the past few months, it seems), so it was feeling kinda winterish. When the snow finally came later in the day, it REALLY felt wintry.

Anyway, the coolest part of the day happened at my swimming lesson, during which I managed to swim the entire length of the pool (under supervision, of course) AND I was able to jump into the deep end of the pool. I'm really proud, as was everyone else! The entire length! Of the pool!

At Sparks today, I was pretty bewildered... Mommy made ants on a log for snack (since we're learning about healthy eating) and all of the kids really seemed to love them. I don't understand what the big deal about peanut butter and celery is. Hello... did I mention that I swam the length of the pool?!

Daddy / Daughter / Ray Day

Eaton Centre by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy]

I had a decent morning... I played, did some crafts, drew some pictures, watched some cartoons, and then I had some lunch. As soon as that was done, I decided to spend the 20 bucks Nana got me on frozen yogurt, and was all set to have my parents drive me down to the beaches to get some... but then Daddy and I changed the plans around right before we were out the door.

He and I decided to do some Valentine's Day shopping for Mommy downtown, so we drove down, picked up our awesome friend Ray, and went to the Eaton Centre, the World's Biggest Bookstore, HMV, and other places. I managed to even talk Daddy and Ray into taking me out for ice cream, too!

After we drove Ray home, Daddy and I drove to ANOTHER mall, bought a special secret present for Mommy, and then bought a big bouquet of flowers, which we immediately brought home to Mommy. At the end of the day, I unsuccessfully tried making Mommy a fancy Valentine's Day card. Better luck tomorrow.

Piano & Stew

Wild Child by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 13th]

To avoid a repeat of yesterday, Mommy and I made sure that we got Daddy out of bed at a reasonable hour. He and I watched the animated movie version of The Phantom Tollbooth, which he absolutely loved as a kid. I didn't think it was as good as the book.

After lunch, Daddy took me to my piano lesson, which by all accounts went well - the teacher had great things too say afterwards. She thinks I'm really smart and awesome. Mommy picked me up when I was done, and took me over to Julie and Sarah's house again. We had another really fun visit!

Mommy developed a severe headache, but was still able to cook the best beef stew I've ever eaten in my life, and I made sure I let her know.

Making Valentines

Party Girl by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 13th]

When I left for school this morning, Daddy was still asleep. When I came home for lunch - Daddy was still asleep! Amazing. By the time I was finished with school for the day, he was awake and picked me up in the car so that he and Mommy and I could run some errands.

First we went over to the bulk food store to buy goodies to make Valentines with. Daddy and I checked out a few stores while Mommy visited the thrift store, and then we drove all the way down to the butcher to buy some food for dinner. It's hard to believe, but these simple errands took us two whole hours!

After dinner, Mommy and I carefully made valentines with all of the candy we bought... I had a hard time NOT eating all of the candy. I think I ate about half of it.

A day without Clover

Drawing Again by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 12th]

Once again, I stayed at school for the entire day - everyone in my school (and other schools I think) had to practice for our big folk fest dancing extravaganza. So at lunch I ate leftovers from last night and then danced and danced!

While I was at school, Mommy and Daddy had the whole day to themselves, which they took advantage of by going out for lunch and taking care of some errands. When school was over, Daddy was the one to come and pick me up - he let me play a bit with my friends at the playground, and then bought me some candy on the way home.

Of course, he totally forgot that while he and Mommy were out during the day, they already bought me treats. I guess it's kinda funny that while they don't have me around, all my parents do is talk about how much they love me.

The Phantom Tollbooth

Enjoying the Outdoors by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 11th]

School was okay today... nothing too amazing to report. I tried telling some friends of mine about this really cool book Daddy's been reading to me at night: The Phantom Tollbooth, which is about a boy who has magical adventures in a fantasy land, and it's all about philosophy and words and logic and numbers and puzzles and stuff. It's so cool... I really look forward to havinh him read it to me at night.

Also, when I got home from school, Mommy and Daddy put on Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl for me. I enjoyed that, too... but I didn't like all the scenes where the pirates had gross teeth and stuff.

The Deodorant Ninja Strikes Again

As Dennis Watches by Clover_1
[As transcribed on Feb 10th]

Today was the first day in a while during which I didn't have any meltdowns, freakouts, overreacting fits, or crying spells. The last week has been trying for everyone... let's hope that I seem to be done with that little 'upset spell'.

School was all fine and good - Claire was over for lunch, and this time Daddy got to see what lunchtime is like around the house with two kids. Kinda crazy! We ate almost as much food as made it onto the floor.

Daddy took Mommy and I grocery shopping at the end of the day. I thought it was funny how he put some deodorant into our shopping cart without Mommy noticing and whispered "The Deodorant Ninja Strikes Again!", so he and I took turns sneaking funny or random items into the cart while Mommy wasn't looking. We laughed and laughed the whole time.

Meltdown at Sparks

Ferry Wind 4 by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 9th]

School today was pretty good... I got to see my friends and was pretty happy to not be trapped in the house with coughing parents who won't entertain me nonstop. From all accounts, it was a good, normal day.

Daddy picked Mommy and I up from school once I was done playing at the playground and drove me over to my swimming lesson. He was really proud of how good my backstroke is coming along. I had a wonderful time!

We came home and had a quick dinner, and then Mommy took me to Sparks - where I had a complete and total meltdown. I went straight to bed when I got home. What a shame... I missed out on singing the song about healthy eating my parents wrote for Sparks!

Scary Squids

Alien Bow by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on February 9th]

Today wasn't my best day. I wanted to go out today, having felt a little cooped up yesterday... Daddy's's been glues to the computer for work AND he has a cold, so we've been kinda grounded.

Mommy and Dennis took me out for a walk around the block, and then I convinced Daddy to drive me out to New York Fries for a quick snack... a snack that just didn't seem to hit the spot. We did some much-needed grocery shopping, too.

At night, Mommy read to me from my Squids book, which unfortunately got me really scared. To make me feel better, Mommy and I planned an ice cream social.

Stressed to Sleep

Bog Bench by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on Feb 8th]

It was something of an up-and-down day. I had a nice morning I suppose, although I was somewhat bored. Eventually Daddy (who was glued to his laptop all day doing weekend work) drove Mommy and I over to my piano lesson. The class I'm in is good, but I kinda have to start from the beginning, seeing as how it's a new school.

After that, Mommy and I went over to Julie's house - I haven't seen her or Sarah in so long! I played really nicely with Sarah and James... we had a really good time. A really great play date! By the time Daddy came go get us, the slight sniffle he had in the morning had turned into a full-blown cold.

For some reason, bedtime was traumatic tonight. I somehow convinced myself that I couldn't sleep... and when I didn't fall asleep immediately, I started really freaking out. I think I eventually stressed myself to sleep.

Squids and Octopuses

Barbie Car by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on Feb 7th]

Groundhog Day today! Depending on who you talked to / what radio station you listened to, Wiartion Willie saw his shadow, so we are spared a later winter, I think. If the weather outside is any clue, we stopped having winter a month ago. It's positively warm outside - like 10 degrees! [Just pretend you didn't read that last but on the blog two days ago].

I had another day where I stayed at school for the full day... this time it wasn't choir or band practice, it was folk dancing practice. APparently we have some big school-board-wide performance coming up.

I did lots of arts and crafts in the afternoon, and I brought home this really wacky book about squid (Called "Squids") from the library - so wacky it continuously and inaccurately states that the plural of 'octopus' is 'octopuses' and the plural of squid is 'squids', which DRIVES MY DADDY CRAZY.

I'm kidna fascinated by that book, one way or another.

Slippy

Autumn Profile by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on Feb 7th]

Okay, so you know how on yesterday's blog post, I mentioned that it was Groundhog Day? Heh, that's impossible. Groundhog Day is on February 2nd, not on January 1st. There's no way I could have predicted the events (or outcome) of Groundhog Day two full days before it happened. It must've been a weird error. Either that, or Daddy is erroneously writing all these blog posts a week after the fact in a feeble attempt to catch up.

So yeah... Wednesday. Uh... Claire came over today, and the two of us had a lot of fun. Mommy developed a newfound appreciation for parents who raise two kids - usually I'm more than enough for her to handle. The two of us were very silly.

Yesterday's warm weather paired with today's rain made things really really muddy. In fact, today I slipped in the mud and skinned my knee. I proudly showed off my wound to Daddy when he got home from work.

You Are My Sunshine

Asulkan Trail 07 by Clover_1
[As transcribed by Daddy on Feb 7th]

Groundhog Day today! Depending on who you talked to / what radio station you listened to, Wiartion Willie saw his shadow, so we are spared a later winter, I think. If the weather outside is any clue, we stopped having winter a month ago. It's positively warm outside - like 10 degrees!

I stayed at school for lunch today... it was the first-ever meeting of the "Little Singers" club, so I guess I had choir practice. We all sang "You Are My Sunshine," which is lovely. After school, I had band practice... but the teacher wasn't around, so there were no instruments or anything. Bummer.

By the end of the day, I was positively exhausted, and was kinda cranky and whiny. But hey, can you blame me? Choir AND band. What am I, a performing monkey?!

I'm a happy kid living with my parents and our dog in Toronto. I'm goofy, sweet, smart, extremely chatty, and pretty much the cutest kid on the face of the Earth!
