On a Mission to Buy Orange Juice

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I woke up pretty early in the middle of the night and joined my folks in bed... which meant that Mommy didn't sleep to well, and that after I woke up at an ungodly hour and started throwing a party while my parents tried to sleep... Daddy gave up on sleep and just went into work early.

Mommy and I had a nice walk to the store this morning to buy some orange juice. I was so into the walk that I made sure I told every single person we passed what our mission was. Later in the afternoon, I played on the front lawn in a pile of leaves with Gammy. It sure was more fun than carving pumpkins... that got really boring really fast.

After Daddy came home from work, he took Mommy and I out to dinner, and then we spent waaay too much money on some admittedly pretty cool stuff.

Spooky Stories

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Poor Mommy. She was happily exercising on the living room floor when a flying Rhinoceros leapt on her from above, jabbing her in the eye with its horn. Of course, I was the one dropping the (plastic miniature) Rhinoceros, but... it made for a good story.

We had an alright walk, had lunch, a somewhat quiet hour-long rest in my crib, we made an apple crisp (with cranberries), and even found time to play some video games on the computer! In fact, When Daddy came home from work, he found me sitting at the Mac, playing The Sims.

This afternoon, I visited with Gammy and we traded 'spooky stories'. Here's mine:

Once upon a time, Gammy was sleeping and it was night-time and it was dark. Then she heard a noise, and it was 'tap tap tap.' And it was Basil, with his tail! The end.

Grumpy Old Trolls

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I informed Mommy first thing this morning that we were having "Syrup with Pancakes" for breakfast, so... she had no choice but to get to work. We had to eat and run - we picked Leslie up from her place early in the afternoon (amid a hailstorm!) and headed out for Glen Williams.

We all had lunch at our favourite bakery, and then went for a pretty nice hike along the Bruce Trail. I did a lot of 'starting' and 'stopping', and was a bit of a slowpoke for everyone's tastes... at times I was more interested in sitting down on the wooden foot-bridges, so that we could all pretend to "Be Grumpy Old Trolls." Except I wasn't so grumpy.

We all drove back home, picked up some groceries, and had spaghetti for dinner. Before that, though, I at least got in a few minutes of playing with Leslie in my room (something I had been looking forward to all day).

Vicious Circle

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I joined Mommy again this morning for Pilates, but then I gave up and decided to just play with my toys on the floor where she was trying to exercise.

After Daddy woke up we drove out to the chiropractor, where I impressed the folks in the waiting room with my wit and adorability factor. We got some breakfast, headed home, and Daddy and I played with the computer, did some drawing, and ate lunch.

We loaded Basil into the car and drove out for a weekend hike. It started to rain, so we headed home... but then the sun came out, so we decided to go for a hike. It started to rain, so we headed home... but then the sun came out, so we decided to go for a hike. It started to rain, so we headed home... but then the sun came out, so we decided to go for a hike. It started to rain, so we headed home... but then the sun came out, so we decided to go for a hike.

After giving up on the hike, we visited a muddy pumpkin patch and grabbed some pumpkins while Basil waited in the car. Imagine my gleeful surprise when we came home and found the Nixons waiting for us!

Delicious Taramosalata

[As transcribed by Daddy]

This morning Mommy and I walked all the way to Julie & Sarah's house... and then they joined us (James too) for another walk to Wal-Mart, via the library. I can't say I liked Wal-Mart much... I mean, there was a nice wall of fish tanks for me to look at, but I was in a contrary mood and wasn't into much of anything, to tell you the truth. I asked to go home, and when we parted ways with Julie & Sarah I got pretty mad. After a bus ride home (Mommy calmed me down) I kinda worked myself into a frenzy once again after lunch.

Mommy kept calm and cool, though, and relaxed me by fastidiously rubbing my back and tummy. I calmed down enough to pass out, and we had a nice nap together.

Mommy woke with another headache - I hung out with the television until Daddy came home and we joined my grandparents for a lovely souvlaki dinner (I kept stealing Gammy's delicious taramosalata). Then Daddy drove Mommy and I out to a huuuge mall that was a lot crazier than we expected, bought some coffee, a book, and a new Operating System for our computer. I didn't like that part. It was way too crazy.

Transit Announcement

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I did Pilates exercises with Mommy this morning! I got bored with them pretty quickly, and had a hard time doing multiple actions simultanously (hands and feet?! Impossible!). After that, we went for a walk, but neighbourhood sidewalk construction made it pretty difficult.

After lunch, Mommy and I took the subway to go to the Doctor's office. I had a great time, and loved riding the train... some guy sketched me while I posed for him. At the Doctor's office, I was pleasant and happy - no needle-fearing freakouts or screaming fits (it was a Doctor visit for Mommy, anyway). Besides, I got some stickers.

While travelling to the Doctor's office, I farted on the bus. I was so pleased with myself I announced to all within earshot: "I FARTED ON THE BUS!"

I may be uncouth, but at least I'm awfully cute about it.

Arvellous Medibles

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I had something of a late start this morning. As such, we missed our weekly Playschool visit... but we made good use of the day and went for a nice walk down to the restaurant on the corner ("Arvellous Medibles") for a sandwich and had a nice little stroll in the lovely autumn afternoon.

We also managed to share a freak late-afternoon nap... it was several hours long! After I woke up, my first request was to go for a drive out to Starbucks, so that I could have "A yogurt, Mommy can have an Apple Cider, and Daddy can have a Grandé Mild."

After Daddy came home from work, we played outside, accidentally stepped in dog poop, ate dinner, did some grocery shopping, and finally fulfilled my Starbucks request. The ladies who work there sure do love me.

Going Easy on Gammy

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Another rainy (but kinda warm) October day. Mommy and I were trapped inside... so we sat down and sewed a little bird out f fabric, and then I got it into my head that I wanted to bake some pumpkin cookies. We didn't have any pumpkin around, so we made sugar cookies in the shape of pumpkins. Then it was time to tidy my bedroom and the kitchen. I decided not to help out.

Daddy came home from work, joined us for dinner, and then before I knew it, they were gone - leaving me with Gammy and Grandpa. We watched some television together, played with a lot of toys, Gammy helped me on the potty, and finally tucked me in and read to me. I fell asleep really quickly and easily.

Tomorrow, I'll inquire with my folks why I put up such a fight at bedtime for them, but let Gammy off so easy when she babysits.

Unable to Cope

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I was pretty unable to cope with much of anything today. If Mommy left the room, I'd freak out. If she went into the bathroom, I'd freak out. If I'd want to eat something (but not an apple) and get offered an apple, I'd freak out.

Mommy and I decided to take Basil for a nice, long walk arund the neighbourhood today. I was all set... strapped into my stroller for some afternoon-long hiking! Someone (who walks on four legs and shall go nameless) decided to take three of the biggest poops known to man within the first half hour, and as such we ran out of poop bags. We had no choice but to go home. I mean, what were we gonna do... not pick up if he kept pooping?

Mommy and I had a late nap together, which meant I got to stay up kinda late tonight... which is always a treat. Mommy and Daddy passed out first - I covered them with diaper cream and Halloween stickers as they snoozed.

Ker-Sploosh!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

We were all up and at 'em pretty early this morning... we all did some tidying and eating of multiple breakfasts and the like. After a slightly frustrating jaunt down the street on my tricycle (I'm still learning how to pedal), I did some playing around the house with Daddy. As Mommy and Basil snoozed on the couch, we got in some Daddy-Daughter 'quality time' - we played with my animal toys, horsed around, made-up stories, changed diapers, went on the potty, and partitioned the iMac's hard drive together.

Late in the afternoon we finally got around to getting lunch... after being stuck in local traffic, we ended up at one of our favourite restauraunts for lunch (waffles!). Mommy and I bought some orange Happy Halloween decorations while Daddy bought an orange video game, and then we went for yet another drive.

I woke up much later in the afternoon - we all went for a hike out in the Rouge River Valley. We found a great little beach gully and took turns throwing rocks into the stream... I think Mommy and Daddy had even more fun skipping stones and making 'big ker-slpposhes' than me (and more than they care to admit)!

Cute Blue Shoes

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Yup... I was up early again this morning - I hopped into bed with Mommy and Daddy and beat the crap out of them and all their stuff. I'm funny that way.

After a lovely breakfast, we drove out in search of coffee and breakfast sandwiches, grabbed some food at the butcher's, visited some bookstores - and bought me two brand new pairs of shoes. At first I wasn't into it, but as soon these cute little blue numbers caught my eye, I was sold.

After a quick lunch, we picked up Leslie and headed out towards Uxbridge to do some hiking. The hike itself may have been kinda dull (save for the nice company), but the colours sure were beautiful. I cried when we dropped Leslie home.

Mommy's cold kinda took over in the evening, and Daddy had to help make dinner. Luckily, nobody died.

Purple Scribbles

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I woke up really early in the morning and asked to snooze with Mommy and Daddy... so Mommy spared Daddy's good night's sleep and snoozed with me on my bed. She didn't get the deepest sleep... she ended up dozing half the day away.

After breakfast, I asked to have a bath, and Mommy obliged... of course, it was after the bath that I decided to draw all over my hands and legs with a big purple parker.

We joined Daddy and Gammy and Grandpa and Nee-Nee for a nice Thai dinner - I was really wound up and excited! When it was time for bed, I went down like a ton of bricks... Mommy and Daddy snuck out to go to the bookstore.

...and then I woke up, couldn't find my parents, and totally freaked out on my babysitters (Gammy and Grandpa). Daddy is still downright amazed that Gammy managed to get me to go back to sleep before he and Mommy got home!

Choppin' Mushrooms

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I crawled into bed with Mommy and Daddy and Basil at 6:30 this morning - and didn't kick anyone in the crotch or back, so we all got to sleep in a bit! I started missing Daddy literally minutes after he left for work.

After a nice walk to look at Happy Halloween decorations, Mommy and I made an Apple Crisp for Gammy and Grandpa, had some lunch, and went down to the lake for a nice walk in the fog with Grandpa and Basil. We all had a great time... although I got kinda tuckered out and Mommy had to carry me a bit (and it kinda gave her a headache).

No nap! I grazed on grapes from snack until dinner, had a mini-meltdown when Mommy cut me off, but felt better when Mom let me help make dinner by chopping up some mushrooms with a plastic knife (see photo). How cute!

Daddy drove Mommy and I for yogurt and coffee (respectively) after the dinner I helped make. I named the Starbucks mascot (you know... the mermaid-lady-thing n the logo) "Helen".

Space Clothes!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I went down to our little playschool / creative playgroup-thing this morning - we walked all the way there and back, and while we were there, we played, sang songs, and had lots of fun. I made friends with some little kid named Josh. He was nice. I got a sticker when I left! Woo!

I got a package in the mail from Naisa and Sithembiso today - some cute space-dresses and a birthday card. Thanks, guys!

I hit something of a milestone today, when I told Mommy that I had to pee before actually going to pee. Of course, when she put me on the potty, nuthin' happened... I waited until I was in her bedroom before I actually... you know... ...peed on the floor. Whatever, I get points for trying.

After Daddy came home from work we wanted to do some grocery shopping, but a big car was blocking our driveway! We went for a walk to buy a mini-pumpkin instead, and when we came home the car was gone and we got the grocery shopping taken care of.

Fei Fi Fo Fum

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today was a pretty big cleaning day! Mommy totally cleaned up her bedroom today (because boy oh boy, did it ever need it), and I politely stood by (drawing, playing, and scurrying around) while she sorted everything out. I drew a picture of Daddy - Mommy then asked me to draw a pumpkin. I spun around and presented her with the same picture.

So, in the afternoon, I'm walkin' around, and I took a dump. Mommy smelled it from across the house and went "Fe Fi Fo Foop... I smell Clover's stinky poop!" Close to six hours later, she overheard me in my room saying "Fe Fi Fo Fum... I smell Clover's stinky bum!"

Daddy took Mommy and I out to buy some kibble for Basil and coffee, where a local celebrity (who took ten minutes to pay for coffee by counting out her pennies one-by-one on the Starbucks counter) paid me some nice compliments.

Rage Against The Nap

[As transcribed by Daddy]

In the middle of last night, I woke up, walked across the apartment, and crawled into bed with Mommy and Daddy. When I woke up again several hours later, I kicked them both into waking up - Mommy had one heck of a sleepy morning.

At lunch, I didn't finish my peanut butter and jelly sandwich, so I surprised Mommy by walking it over to the kitchen and putting my sandwich in the fridge! I would repeat this trick at dinner, as well.

I really fought hard against having a nap this afternoon, and after a lot of yelling and screaming, I convinced Mommy to eventually snooze with me. Later on, there were some 'issues' with me helping to make Apple Crisp - I kept shoving my hands in the sugar dish etc.

Going to bed was another fight. I kept getting out of bed, turning on the lights, taking my clothes and diaper off, pulling clothes out of their drawers... and the funniest part was where I really started trying my parent's patience my sneaking out of my room, putting stuff in the living room, and then scurrying back terrified when Mommy would see me. For some reason, this Daddy laugh hysterically.

Pumpkin and Pumpkins and Pumpkin

[As transcribed by Daddy]

After a breakfast of pumpkin pancakes, Mommy and Daddy and I took a quick drive over to Arlynn and Corrin and Jason's house, where Corrin and I played with toys and stuff while Mommy and Arlynn traded plants and Daddy and Jason were nerds together.

Next up, we took a long drive out to the apple orchard ("Apple Patch!") and did a whole lot of apple picking! I had fun yanking the fruit off of the trees, and had to proudly show my parents every single apple I grabbed. We also visited the adjoining pumpkin patch, and I carried a small pumpkin all by myself (see photo). I did some playing on the playground, we loaded the car with apples, pumpkins, and cider, and drove home. I nearly choked on an apple on the way home, and had a nap.

I spoke with Papa on the phone before dinner... he bought me a goat down on his farm, and asked me to name it. Of course, I ended up naming it 'Pumpkin'.

Puppet Party!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

This morning Mommy and Daddy and I ran a bunch of errands - we got some coffee, visited the chiropractor (where Daddy and I ate yogurt on the floor), went to pick up our newly-repaired Nintendo Wii (for free!) and did some quick grocery shopping in an unfamiliar grocery store.

After lunch, we went out again - out to a great little bookstore on Queen Street West, where Daddy's friend Renee put on a nice puppet show about a fun birthday party. We got there kinda late and had to watch from the stairs, but we had fun anyway (even if I was kinda afraid of Renee's puppet). Mommy's favourite part was where one of the actors asked us kids what kind of cake to bake, and I yelled out "A fish cake!" Afterwards, we bought some books, more coffee, more groceries, and came home.

Mommy napped for the rest of the afternoon - I was entertained by Daddy, my grandparents, and the television.

Gender Stereotypes

[As transcribed by Daddy]

No visit with Julie & Sarah's today - I have a cold still. Mommy and I managed to sneak in a few walks around the block before one of her crazy psycho killer migraines crept up and attacked. It didn't help that all I wanted to do was run and play and scream right in her ear.

Luckily for us, Daddy came home early from work, seeing as how he has a cold, too. Unlucky for him... Mommy couldn't take care of him, and he had to take care of us. First thing the two of us did (while Mommy recovered) was grab our money-stuffed Nintendo Wii and finally took it to get repaired. Then he took me to the toy store! We had a good time - I got some plastic food for my little kitchen... and Daddy felt kinda guilty about playing up to gender stereotypes, so he also bought me a dumptruck. We both did a lot of sneezing.

We joined Gammy and Grandpa and Nee-Nee for dinner, and late at night I rolled out of bed and fell asleep on my bedroom floor.

Sleepwalking

[As transcribed by Daddy]

'Twas another rainy day outside, so Mommy and I were sorta stuck indoors again (although we did get in a couple of walks before it git wet). In the meantime, Mommy managed to finish off a whole bunch of her ongoing sewing projects - decorations for my room, a little toy butterfly, more parts of my upcoming Halloween Costume... meanwhile, I developed a sore throat and fought having a nap.

After I woke up Mommy bounced me on her knee, during which I bumped my face a bit and got a fat lip. At least it was kinda cute - when Daddy came home from work (also sick!) we thought I looked funny.

I asked Mommy for 'Shoo-Shee [sushi] at a Restaurant', so Daddy took us out for dinner. I had a LOT of miso soup.

After Mommy finally convinced me to go to sleep in my bed tonight, Daddy found me groggily wandering the halls in the dark several minutes later, singing to myself. Sleepwalking? Maybe!

Playing with Glue

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I were up early to go to what I called "school" (and was in actuality a semi-municipally-funded "Creative Play" class) elsewhere in the neighbourhood. It was a lot of fun for me - I played with lots of toys, did a lot of running and scurrying, sang songs, kinda did some crafts (I was more interested in playing with glue than gluing with it), and tried to start intellectual conversations with some of the other kids - all of whom just stared at me stupidly. I was talking circles 'round them all.

I was so wound up and over-stimulated when I got home that I really fought going down for a nap - I put up quite a fuss! When I eventually did have a nap, it was deep and refreshing. We woulda gona for a walk when I woke up, but it was pouring outside!

After dinner, Gammy and Daddy took me to another school so that I could help Daddy vote in the Provincial Election, which he helped promote for work (see the above photo). Take it from me: Voting is boring.

Report: Daddy "Not A Fatass"

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Since I slept in my bed again last night, I woke of my own volition this morning and walked into my parent's bedroom and woke them up again. They secretly loved it.

I was sad to see Daddy go back to work today - in the meantime, Mommy and I went for a couple of walks, where we stomped in puddles with our galoshes. We made some turkey stock, did some colouring, had a nice, long nap together, and ate leftover turkey for lunch. I wanted to make another pumpkin pie, but that idea was nixed.

After dinner, Daddy drove Mommy and I to the Home Depot, where we bought some hinges for the kitchen cabinet that fell apart, some groceries, and some coffee. On the way home, Mommy asked Daddy why he was having extra whipped cream with his pumpkin spice latte, and he said "Because I'm a Big Fatass." I quickly replied in a cute, squeaky little voice: "Daddy, you're not a fatass."

My folks were laughing so hard they were crying.

Hot Turkeys

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I woke quite early this morning - I got out of my bed, walked into my parents room, and demanded some food. I gotta say, not sleeping in a crib has its merits.

Mommy spent most of the day cooking turkey and stuffing, so I kinda had to fight for her attention (especially since Daddy was sleeping in late). Luckily she didn't go outside, otherwise she'd have gotten a major shock - a freak heatwave so bad it would have caused her to flee the kitchen, thus no turkey for any of us.

I really fought my nap this afternoon, but after I woke up Daddy took me for a nice walk around the block.... in 31 degree weather! Argh! Whatever, I had a good time, up on his shoulders the whole way.

I was insanely moody and irritable for the rest of the evening, but I still managed to enjoy a great dinner with my folks and grandparents and Nee-Nee.

Mouse Carnage

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I was really worried that Daddy was going back to work (or back to New York city) this morning as he headed out to return our rental car. I pleased with him to stay - and was quite happy when he came back. Mommy and I went out and bought a new turkey-pan thing, and Daddy bought a new DVD player (since our old one seems to have given up the ghost). Then it was time for grocery shopping!

Mommy and I spent most of the day cooking (Thanksgiving stuff... you know, pumpkin pies, cranberry sauce, etc), while Daddy cleaned up most of the mouse carnage that we found when we got home from vacation. I won't go into details, but it wasn't pretty, and now he's not feeling too well. Let's hope it's not the hantavirus.

Daddy napped after we had a nice dinner - I caught up on a lot of TV watching, and after putting up a real fight before bed, I passed out not in my crib, but on my bed!

All about Poop

[As transcribed by Daddy]

This morning I woke up, went downstairs, and played with Uncle Ed and Aunt Diane and Mommy - and then Daddy joined us! And then... cousin Eric came over! And then... cousin Olivia came over! And then... cousin Lola came over! And then... cousin Robin came over! And then... cousin Nevi came over! And then... cousin Skye came over! We all played! We all had lunch and breakfast! Eggs and salmon and bagels and we all played in a huge parachute and it was fun and crazy and amazing and zzzzzz

Mommy and Daddy and Basil and I headed home from Montreal along the world's most boring highway (one of these days, Daddy swears he's gonna drive from Montreal to Toronto in nice weather). I slept for a good chunk of the drive, and when I woke up and didn't get enough snack... well, I let my parents have it. I kicked the back of Daddy's seat, I screamed, I yelled, I whined... it was brutal.

We pulled over in Cobourg to change my diaper (joke was on them... my diaper was clean!) and I got out of the car and stepped in a huuuuge pile o' dog doodie, got it all over my legs, and all over Daddy. I kept freaking out on the drive... until I pooped in Oshawa, and then I was fine.

Happy to be home. So happy that I peed on the living room floor.

I Like Traffic Lights

[As transcribed by Daddy]

This morning Nana and Mommy drove off to do some antiquing, so Daddy and I took the opportunity to do some last New Hampshire salex tax-free shopping ourselves in Nashua... I fell asleep in traffic.

After a picnic lunch, Daddy loaded the car in the sweltering (October?) heat and Mommy's tummy ache sorta came back again. We said our good-byes to Nana and Jim and Charlie (well, I was kinda cranky and tired, so whatever) and with Basil quietly in tow, headed home.

I slept almost the whole way from New Hampshire to Montreal, and woke just in time to blow kisses to the Canadian border guard. I also stunned my family by spontaneously reciting the "traffic lights" song word-for-word.

We had a lovely dinner with Uncle Ed and Aunt Diane, and then I really fought going to bed (which makes sense... I was so well-rested!).

Hatchery / Berry Patchery

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Because she slept for a good chunk of the day, Mommy didn't sleep much during the night (bad heartburn didn't help). Ergo, she slept for most of the morning, while Daddy and Nana and I played outside (and ate pancakes!).

Mommy woke up in time for lunch, and then along with Jim and Nana and Daddy, we drove out to an old abandoned berry patch and picked wild raspberries and grapes. It was fun - but man oh man, did it ever get hot out there! Daddy thinks it was cute that I thought the milkweed pods were pickles.

After the berry patch, I went with Mommy and Daddy and Nana (Jim wasn't feeling well... he may be catching the bug that's been goin' round) to a salmon hatchery, where we looked at some fish. Cool! After we got home, I hung out with Nana and Jim while Mommy and Daddy did some shopping without me.

New Hampshire Auto Parts

[As transcribed by Daddy]

It's Mommy's turn to be sick! I dunno if I had a bug and I passed it onto her or what, or if it was the ten pounds of mustard greens she ate last night, but Mommy is definately not feeling well.

After breakfast, Nana loaded Mommy and Daddy and I into her car (which I called "fancy") and we went for a lovely day-trip through New Hampshire, driving up-and-down little sideroads and in-and-out of little towns. It seemed like forever before we found a place to eat - southwest NH sure has a lot of Auto Parts dealerships in the middle of nowhere - but found a nice deli in Claremont.

After the long drive home (Daddy fell asleep), Mommy retreated to the bedroom, where she hid / slept / recovered for the rest of the evening. Nana and Daddy fed me dinner, took me through the woods for a nice walk, and then late in the day Daddy drove me to the bookstore in Nashua, where we bought Mommy a get-well present, and where I banged my head on a computer kiosk.

All Apologies

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I'm happy to report that I seem to be back to my regular self today. Case in point: I pigged out during breakfast, as I normally do. Then, I had energy to have a complete freakout / temper tantrum for all to see and enjoy this morning, which quite startled Nana, who hadn't ever witnessed one of my legendary screaming fits. Mommy was firm with me, though - I went into my bedroom, threw myself around a bit, and fell asleep. Mommy won serious mothering points with Nana.

After I woke up, Mommy asked me to apologize to Nana for making such a scene in front of her. I wouldn't for the longest time (that led to yet another fight), but once I decided to finally say "I'm Sorry Nana..." I kept it coming over and over and over again -- I must've apologized, like, ten times this afternoon.

Mommy and I had another nice hike through the woods today, and had a parade (with sticks and leaves) on the way back. I did all the walking myself! We made cookies and did a lot of playing.

Daddy got back from New York right before I went to bed. He brought me a monkey, but I decided I didn't like it after a few seconds of initial enjoyment.

Restrained for Birthdays

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today was a continuation of last night... afwul, gross poopy diapers, intestinal problems, and a diminished appetite (although it seemed to be coming back by lunch), paired with the world's most painful and inflamed diaper rash.

To be on the safe side, Mommy and Daddy took me to a local health clinic/hospital-thing in the neighbourhood. Everything went hunky dory until the nice doctor came in to examine my ears and the back of my throat... I threw such a fit! I screamed and screamed and fought and fought (I bit Mommy, I was so freaked out) and had to be physically restrained. The doctor thinks the ground cherries I ate in Montreal really had a bad effect on me, and basically gave me a clean bill of health, providing my parents are careful and gentle while changing my frequent diapers, given the awful rash.

In lieu of this, Mommy decided that she and I shouldn't travel to New York City, since I kept on pooping. Daddy went alone to visit Cool Uncle Gareth for his birthday, while Mommy and I hung out, went for a walk, found some weird purple mushrooms in the forest, looked at a starry sky in the evening, and - oh yeah - changed poopy diapers.

...and Happy 10th Birthday, Basil!

Maize Maze

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I was up extremely early this morning - Basil and I took turns kicking Daddy in the groin, in an attempt to get everyone out of bed. Or something. Anyway, Mommy and I had a light breakfast (my usually unsatiable appetite is almost nil) before I had a quick nap with Daddy. We both woke up, had some lunch, and drove off with Nana to check out the local corn maze!

The maze was fun - I led my family around, but got kinda scared by all the scarecrows hidden throughout it. For correctly deducing the configuration of the maze ('maple leaf') I won some ice cream, which I enjoyed on a hay ride.

That ice cream ended up being the bulk of my food intake today. Although my mood or disposition never seemed to change, I've had some serious intestinal issues today. While Mommy and Daddy did some shopping, I hung out with Nana for a few hours, and then we all got together (with Jim) and went out to dinner. I ate virtually nothing, came home, and pooped in my pants. A lot. My diaper rash (from all the changes) is awful.

I went to sleep pretty quickly - hopefully my illness doesn't put tomorrow's trip to New York City in jeopardy.
