Food Coma

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I seem to be getting sick again. I have a slight cough... most likely inherited from one of my little friends at kindergarten. Oh well. That school is seriously a major germ factory.

After lunch today, Mommy and Daddy and I drove to Fairview, where we had a big old dim sum lunch! The first one we've had in quite some time. We ate a whole lot... Daddy and I ended up in some sort of food-coma afterwards. But still, it was great to dig into some of our favourite dishes.

After bumming around the mall for a bit, we drove to Old Navy (Mommy bought new pants) and Lowe's, where we looked into buying a new dishwasher. At this point I was pretty much running out of steam, so we returned home where we had a pretty quiet rest of the day.

Saturday errands

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Once Mommy and I dragged Daddy out of bed, we managed to make ourselves a pretty decent lunch, and eventually headed out to run our Saturday errands.

First we hit up the new Gap factory outlet, but didn't actually find anything we liked. Then, we drove into Scarborough and visited the bookstore... Mommy and I checked out lots of kids books, while Daddy felt compelled to buy another historical atlas. We got beverages at Starbucks and then headed home.

I did a lot of playing in my room, and made lots of fancy meals for everyone using my play food. We watched some television during a delicious dinner, and I eventually stopped moving long enough for me to go to bed. I woke up a few times in the night, but Gammy came over and kept me company (my parents were out walking the dog at the time).

Disney on Ice

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Daddy had the day off from work today, so that he could go to the doctor and get the crazy cough he's had for the past month checked out. In the meantime, I had my regular swimming lesson this morning... and I'm very happy to say that I did much better today than I did last week. I was able to focus really well and swim for five metres!

I came home, had a quick lunch, and then Daddy drove me to school. School was good - we had gym class, where we learned how to run a relay. Pretty neat! I walked home with Cheyenne, who invited me to go to see Disney on Ice with her. The weird part is - Cheyenne's parents have no plans to take their daughter to Disney on Ice.

I danced and partied all evening after dinner (poutine!) while my folks and Dennis fell asleep on the couch.

Book > Movie

[As transcribed by Daddy]

It was another low-key day. Mommy and I did some tidying in the house before I went to school, which was fine. On the way there, Mommy took some photos of Dennis and I.

On the way home, I suggested that we have a movie night (which we haven't done in a while). So I called Daddy on the phone and checked to see if it was okay with him... he stopped at the DVD store on the way home, picked up a copy of Charlotte's Web, and brought it home. Mommy and I ordered Swiss Chalet.

Dinner and the movie was good - Daddy pretty much slept through both the food and the film. Mommy's a little miffed that Daddy got the movie - she was hoping that I'd return to the book version of the story when I wanted to hear it, rather than the movie.

Uncle Donald

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I watched Sesame Street this morning - something that's actually somewhat rare for me. Mommy and I spent some time afterwards looking up our favourite characters on the computer.

I had music class today! On the way home from school, the lady at the flower store gave me a flower, since I'm her favorite. Isn't that nice? Also on the way home, there was some drama - I kept stepping onto the road, and when Mommy called me back I over-reacted. Thus, I didn't get my customary beverage on the way home. I would have played with Carrieann, but she had to go to her Uncle Donald's.

When Daddy got home from work, he fell asleep on the couch with Dennis... Mommy and I took some cute photos of them while they cuddled and slept. After dinner, I drew some more pictures of Trogdor the Burninator.

[As transcribed by Daddy]

This blog posts marks the 2000th installment of The Adventures of Clover. Thanks to everyone who made it happen (Daddy for transcribing them all, everyone who contributed photos and comments and stuff). Daddy is sorry that the year 6 redesign is six months late. Technically, I'm also 2000 days old (give or take the first ten days of my life when Daddy didn't have the idea for the blog yet).

Mommy wasn't feeling great today, so Grandpa walked me to school. I wore pants specifically because I thought they would help me climb the ropes in gym class, but instead we played with a parachute. Grandpa also picked me up and walked me home from school.

Mommy felt good enough to take me to dance class - today we could bring a friend along, so I invited Sara. We had a good time, although it was kinda crazy with all the kids and all of their friends in that small little dance studio. I got to wear my new leotard, though - which I stretched and bent all out of shape.

Before bed, I drew awesome pictures of Trogdor the Burninator.

Charlotte's Web

[As transcribed by Daddy]

It was another cold one out there. Mommy took me to school, which was okay... they had us walk in circles while listening to music, and I kinda got tired and a little bit confused and lost. My parents asked me to explain further, but I was so confused and lost that I couldn't quite figure out exactly what I meant.

I spent a good chunk of the day reading Charlotte's Web with Mommy - the first lengthy chapter book that I couldn't out down, and have been asking Mommy to read to me for the past several days. I love it. I think about it all the time - I even play 'Wilbur and Charlotte' in my room with my toys. What a wonderful story. Today Mommy read me the ending... my folks were worried I'd take it pretty hard, but I thought it was sweet.

We all went out to buy boots for Dennis at the pet store today, and got coffee (hot chocolate for me) on the way home.

Tomorrow will be my 2000th blog entry!

Cold cold cold cold

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Boy, was it ever cold out there today. It was sunny and nice looking, but that picturesque view out the window betrayed the kind of weather that freezes the boogers inside your nostrils as soon as you go outside.

We all stayed in as much as possible... Dennis seems to like the weather less than any of us, so he was super hesitant to head outdoors. We had lunch, played Pictionary, a long game of Carcassonne... a nice Sunday stuck indoors.

Actually, we did take a quick drive over to the butcher's for some food at one point in the afternoon, but we hurried back home where it wasn't thirty degrees below zero. I even put on a 'magic show' for my parents - which consisted of me drawing complicated images and then flipping them upside-down to reveal hidden other drawings.

Am I creative, or what?

Trading Compliments

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Things were a little rushed this morning - we all had to hustle in order to get to Julie's before lunch. I drew Sara a picture for her birthday, we got Daddy out of bed, we stopped by the toy store for birthday presents, and then rushed over to Julie and Sara's house.

Sara's birthday party was fun - we played together really well, and Sara told me that I was really beautiful (I returned the favour by telling her that she was 'more talkative than I recalled'). They have a bouncy castle there - I loved the heck out of that thing. We also played dressup a bit and wore tutus.

After lunch and birthday cake, it was time to go home... where Mommy and Daddy and Gammy played an epic game of Carcasonne. I didn't mind - I played in my room. It was too cold outside to do much else.

No Swimming

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I was supposed to go to my swimming lesson this morning, but due to a scheduling snafu with the guy who came over to read the hydro meter just as we were on the way out, we didn't get to go. I was pretty disappointed. Mommy and I made up for that by taking a nice, long, leisurely lunch at the restaurant around the corner. I ate a huge rack of ribs and was quite content.

No school today - instead, Mommy and I went home (in the freeeezing cold) and hung out with Dennis rather than do much of anything else due to the prohibitive weather. I watched one of my favourite movies, played in my room, and played some video games.

After Daddy came home from work we all had a lovely dinner - we haven't had adobo in months. I watched an awesome episode of the Muppet Show before bed.

Dennis' Business

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I spent the better part of the morning and early afternoon cleaning up my room. As usual, I tried to get away with doing as little of the work as possible, and did my best to get Mommy to take on the bulk.

School was good today - no fallout from yesterday's 'kerfuffle'. Gammy joined Mommy in picking me up from school... and we brought Carrieann with us! Carrieann and I had a great old time, playing in my newly-cleaned room.

We played outside, went tobogganning on our backsides down the hill behind the TARDIS (on Gammy's flowerbeds, which we're not supposed to do), had a snack, and played with Dennis (who was great with Carrieann, despite her difficult-to-field anatomical questions pertaining to his gender). We aaallll walked Carrieann home, which seemed to take forever. Dennis was really wiped out once we got home.

Kerfuffle

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I had a play date with Claire this morning! We had a great time - I brought my Barbie dolls, so we did that, plus I had a blast playing with her play food and play kitchen and play ice cream cones and stuff. My Mommy and Claire's Mommy hung out, we all had a nice lunch, and our Ontario Natrual Food Co-Op order arrived, which Claire and I helped bring back home in the wagon (on the way to school).

Speaking of school, it didn't go so hot today. There was a "Kerfuffle" (my word) with a kid, which frustrated me, and in turn I took it out on another kid, which made me feel awful... and which kept me miserable and on edge for the rest of the day (even though Claire and I played with the wagon again).

I had dinner with Gammy and Grandpa tonight... steak, corn, and potato patties. I went to bed kinda early due to the day's drama.

Passed Out Parents

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy was kinda funny this morning. She woke up early, took the dog out, got dressed, got me breakfast, was ready for the day... ...and then fell asleep. She napped for quite a while. Anyway, I thought it was hilarious.

School was okay today - it was kinda warm outside, and for perhaps the first time in, like, ever - I was several minutes early for work. I played in the playground with my friend Molly, who isn't usually all that into playing in the playground. So, that was a nice treat. Other than that, our usual supply teacher looked after us.

Mommy and I had a pretty nice evening - we went to dance class, which was fine, and then I got to choose some dinner to pick up on the way home. Mommy and I dined on chicken wings, and when Daddy came home, he passed out exhausted from work on the couch, where we left him to sleep.

Grandpa's Birthday

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Daddy was off to work early today, but Mommy and Dennis and I decided to sleep in and hubernate, since it was so bitterly cold. So cold, in fact, that when we walked to school, our faces really hurt!

We had gym class today. For the first time, they let us break out the big hefty ropes, which I was not very good at climbing. I was, however, really good at swinging on them. What can I say... Daddy had the same issue growing up.

Grandpa joined Mommy and Dennis in picking me up from school - we all walked home along with Cheyenne and her Daddy, too. Once we got home, Mommy and I got to work on grandpa's birthday cake (even though I didn't get to have any of the custard). I also made a great birthday card for Grandpa - we had presents and stuff before dinner. Happy birthday, Grandpa!

Corrin & Kristen

[As transcribed by Daddy]

After a lovely Sunday morning, Mommy and Daddy dropped me off at Corrin's house to celebrate her fifth birthday! Her Mommy and Daddy took care of me and the other kids - there were games like pin the tentacle on the octopus, broken telephone, and lots of snacks. There always seems to be a gluten-free pizza for me at every birthday party I go to! I told them all about my friend Kristen.

Mommy and Daddy picked me up after they had an afternoon to themselves (during which they pretty much discussed how much they missed me). I came home and asked about Kristen coming over to visit once every ten minutes.

Kristen called at around five, so Daddy and I brought her over to the house. She brought me some cool presents from her recent trip to Japan! I pretty much hogged her to myself as much as possible, and was really sad when it was time for bed.

Kristen is the best! My family and I really appreciate her so much.

Partly Cloudy with a chance of Godzilla

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Lots of snow again, which makes me ridiculously happy! I made sure I spent a good chunk of time outside, running and playing and falling and stuff. After lunch, Mommy and Daddy and I took Dennis for a walk around the block (a blind dog barked at us, which was scary), and then Dennis and I had a good run in the yard. Daddy and I discussed meteorology... I listed the types of weather as 'Sunny, Rainy, Hail, Cloudy, Windy, and Godzilla.'

Mommy and Daddy took me out to the mall in Scarborough, where we got bubble tea, popcorn, birthday presents for Grandpa, and an expansion pack for Carcasonne (not to mention the odd groceries). I did a lot of playing in my room when we got home.

I watched some television with my folks before bed, and as I slept my parents proudly showed off some amazing Halloween-themed pictures I drew before either of them were awake this morning.

Don't Share the Makeup

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Swimming was only okay today... I had a problem with surrendering midway through things that I was attempting to do. I gotta swim 5 metres, but stop at about 2 and a half.

School was GREAT - I was the helper today (which means I get to be at the front of the line on the way into school, I got to bring the attendance sheet to the office, and do something with the chart). For show & tell I brought the makeup bag I got for Christmas from Nana - it was a HUGE hit. All of the other girls really lit up when they saw it. Afterwards, my teachers had to have a chat with me - they're so impressed with my capacity for sharing and my willingness to let the other kids run wild with my stuff that they sat me down and instructed me not to share my makeup. The other kids *really* wanted it.

We went out for dinner for the first time in ages - a lovely sushi dinner. I ate a man-sized meal. I was sooo full afterwards.

Rainbow Dennis

[As transcribed by Daddy]

One of the first things I did this morning was ask Grandpa if there were any chores I could do in order to get some money (to save up for that doll I wanted). Grandpa had me do something simple and paid me a dollar, which would mean something if I had ANY CONCEPT OF MONEY WHATSOEVER. I mean... know what a penny is. Other than that, it's all a bunch of jingly pieces of circular metal that you can buy crap with.

School was okay - I'm mostly excited because tomorrow I get to be the helper. Still, it didn't stop me from playing afterwards in the playground with Adrianna and Claire - despite the bone-chilling cold. Mommy and I had to stop in at the corner store on the walk home just to warm up!

Mommy and I took Dennis for a walk today - Mommy made him a new jacket out of the rainbow fleece fabric I got her for Christmas. He seems to love wearing it - he ran around the house like a maniac when he wore it. He even knocked me over!

Chicken Jelly

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today was pretty normal... nuthin' really astounding happened today. I played video games, played with the dog, went to school... the usual.

I kinda freaked Daddy out (amusingly) at the end of the day when it was time to eat dinner. I finished my two delicious roast chicken drumsticks with vegetables, and when Mommy asked me if I wanted any dessert, I declined and said that I wanted the "Chiiiickeeen Jeeelllleeeee." You know the congealed salty goo that boils in the pot when you cook a roast? The drippings? That's what I wanted. But it's not like I said it casually... I said it with a toothy grin and a really crazy look in my eye.

At night I kinda had bad dreams - this one was about Dr. Bunsen Honeydew standing and watching while I got eaten by a crocodile. That's the second Muppet-related nightmare in as many weeks.

Doll Savings

[As transcribed by Daddy]

So I woke up thinking about that doll, still. I guess I take after my Daddy - when I get into something, I really get into it. I even felt guilty about it - I was worried that Cinnamon Bunny would be upset that I was thinking so much about another toy.

Anyway, today was pretty cool - Gammy and Grandpa gave me a little margarine tub full of change to start up my doll savings (which I'm gonna stick to and my parents are gonna support). I ate pancakes, watched a lot of Spongebob (which seems to be my new favourite show), and went to school.

Dance class this evening was cool - we had a bunch of new students join us, and I'm kinda surprised to announce that I'm no longer the tallest / biggest in the class. Which doesn't bother me so much.

Dennis Loves Clover

[As transcribed by Daddy]

This morning after my parents woke up and let Dennis out of his crate, he went straight into my room to hang out and play with me (and so that I could scratch his tummy). Isn't that sweet?

I played some board games with Mommy this morning, and then at school we had a supply teacher, which was fine. Gym class was great, and I coveted my friend Claire's awesome icicle in the playground.

When I got home from school, Dennis completely ignored Mommy and went straight to me - he was overjoyed that I was back. After dinner Mommy and I took him for a walk - when we got back he was so excited to be inside that he knocked me over. Normally this would make me freak out, but I like Dennis so much I just laughed it off.

Before bed, Mommy made the mistake of showing me a website about some overpriced doll you can order, and it's all I can think about. Seriously. I even told Gammy and Grandpa that I'd do chores for them to save up enough money to get one.

Laughing at Dennis

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Daddy thought his cough was on the way to getting better, but this morning (afternoon?) when he woke up, it was way worse. So... Mommy and I took it pretty easy on him today. I did some playing outside and stuff, and had some fun with Dennis, not to mention using the computer. My parents joined me for some board games after lunch, and I stood back while Mommy and Daddy played an epic game of Carcasonne.

In the afternoon, Daddy drove me out for Starbucks while Mommy bought Dennis a big bag of food and a new chew toy (since he keeps devouring the so-called 'indestructable' ones). That dog makes me, laugh, man.

We watched some television together as a family, and I watched Daddy play some video games, but only before things started turning violent. Mythbusters before bed!

Snowphoria

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I woke up to a winter wonderland! We were only supposed to get a few centimetres of snow today, but insstead we had more than 15! It's great! I was into my snowpants and out into the snow before breakfast. Before. Breakfast. I don't do ANYTHING before breakfast.

Mommy had a chiropractor's appointment, so Daddy and I hung out, had a game of Pictionary, and then took Dennis for a walk around the block. We had some lunch when we got home, and then joined Mommy for a massive game of Carcasonne that I got bored with.

There was a lot more playing in the snow once we got back from our weekly jaunt to the grocery store. I could be heard to remark several times today how much I love the weather, and how today was the best day ever. You've never seen someone made more happy my glorious winter weather.

Leo Day

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I went back to swimming lessons this morning! They were great. I have a new instructor... Mommy was worried that I wasn't paying any attention to him, but nope... I listened quite well and was actually able to swim on my side!

School was pretty good, and afterwards Mommy and I went over to the toy store to buy a gift for Leo's birthday party. We got him a car, and then we came home and constructed him a fairly complicated (but awesome) pop-up birthday card! Daddy was really impressed when he saw it.

Then it was off to Leo's birthday party, which was held at a big indoor playground a couple of blocks away. I didn't get any cake (due to my wheat allergy) but had candy, my own pizza, and other snacks. I had a lot of fun playing in the playground - and I got an awesome goody bag on the way home!

The Bunny in the Wardrobe Variety Hour

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Lots of snow outside today, which made me especially happy. I hung out with Mommy while she did laundry in the morning (I wanted to play Pictionary or Carcasonne, but whatever) and maybe watched to many videos on the computer and stuff. School was all right, although I did get kinda in trouble for talking too much.

Who, me? Talk too much?

I played with my new play-dough in the afternoon and visited with Gammy and Grandpa, since Mommy's headache made an unwelcome return. After Daddy (who Mommy and I nicknamed 'Jam-Jam') came home from work and we had all eaten dinner, he and I decided to cheer Mommy up by putting on an Improv show.

We named our two-person troupe 'Bunny in the Wardrobe' and put on quite the show for Mommy, which involved taking audience suggestions, mime, and singing.

Pictionary

[As transcribed by Daddy]

An uneventful morning was otherwise interrupted by the arrival of Pictionary Jr. in the mail. I wanted to play it all day, but you need three players, so we decided to wait for Daddy to come home from work.

School was fine - we stayed inside the classroom for the most time, but got let out a little bit early so that we could play in the snow. Mommy and Dennis met me afterwards, and we took Dennis over to the nearby groomer to have his delicate toenails clipped.

It was a bit traumatic for the poor guy. He didn't mind having his back paws clipped, but he was really nervous and skitterish and thrashed about when the groomer clipped his front paws.

Mommy got a terrible headache as soon as we got home and was pretty much out of commission for the rest of the day. I watched some TV, visited Gammy and Grandpa, and played video games in the meantime. After Daddy got home from work, he invented a fun way that the two of us could play Pictionary with just two players. You should see my drawing of 'Big Ben'!

Samaritans

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Breakfast and a game of Bingo this morning, and then it was off to school after lunch. Mommy was cool with me wearing my old Pink Batman costume to school, until she realized it would be too difficult to remove in case I needed to use the restroom.

School was great - not much to report, although I did accidentally injure my arm slightly on the way out. Kinda weird. I requested a hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream and a candy cane to make me feel better, but settled for a kiss.

Mommy and I had a pretty long hike in the snow to dance class, which was great. On the walk back, we passed a woman who was having some difficulty pushing her grocery cart AND walking her dog in the snow, so we stopped and helped her with her dog for a while. After all that, I was FAMISHED when we got home for dinner.

Happily Back to School

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I was up pretty early - joined my folks in bed and chatted away until someone got up and made me some breakfast. Mommy also drew me a bath - I missed one of my favourite shows because of it, but it was totally worth it.

After lunch, it was FINALLY time to go back to school! Along the way I told everyone I met about my totally awesome new haircut. School was great - Carrie Ann gave me a Christmas present (more Silly Bandz!) and we had gym class and stuff. Pretty awesome!

In the afternoon, I played some video games (whenever Daddy wasn't using the computer for work), and watched television with my folks during dinner. I happily went to bed, back in the groove of going to school every day. I had a great Christmas vacation, but am too young to not be sad that it's over.

Haircut House

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I had a bad dream last night, so I joined Mommy in bed... we had a pretty good night's sleep! Today was pretty eventful, I guess - the warm weather was gone (back to normal), but we still managed to find lots to do.

Daddy and Grandpa got the roof placed on my playhouse, with minimal drastic emergency sawing-off-of-major-components-to-make-things-fit-properly. Nothing some cosmetic alterations won't fix. Anyway, we were all really happy to see things near completion (pre-paint)!

I joined my folks on a quick jaunt over to Lowe's and Rona for the light that goes on the top of the playhouse, and then we hit up Zellers for barber equipment - after we got home and had some dinner, Mommy cut my hair in lieu of a trip to the Salon. She did a great job! She also cut Daddy's hair really short... they're both more shocked by the amount of gray than they are by the length.

Everything is Closed on New Year's Day

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I made some delicious muffins this morning, some of which we brought to Daddy so that he could have breakfast in bed. Then it was some smoked salmon for lunch as I watched a little bit of television.

For the second day in a row, the weather was unseasonably warm (I believe we set a heat record for New Year's Day in Toronto), so Daddy and I decided to gout and run some errands. Of course - stupid us, we forgot that everything is CLOSED on New Year's day. So... no visit to the lamp store, no haircuts, and no Best Buy. We did go to Starbucks and have a little walk in the fog down at the lake.

Gammy and Grandpa and Nee-Nee joined us all for a delicious dinner, and I regaled them all with stories of the games I played today with Dennis. He and I really seem to be getting along spectacularly. I think he's great.

New Year's Eve

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I had a nice morning playing Bingo and some of the games I got for Christmas. After lunch, Mommy and Daddy and I took Dennis for a walk around the block, and then I hung out with Grandpa in the afternoon while they all went out to do some shopping for odds and ends.

Grandpa and I had a great time - we went for a walk, and even went to the playground which was pretty awesome... I was the only one there and had the monkeybars all to myself, plus the weather was ridiculously warm, so... double-awesome!

After a game of Carcasonne with Daddy, Mommy joined us for a quick trip over to Lisa and Matt and Leo's house. We met up with them plus Avery and her parents and walked down to a nice little restaurant, where we had a nice New Year's Eve dinner. Afterwards, we walked back to Lisa and Matt's, I played with Leo and Avery, and then it was time to head home!

Happy New Year! I've resolved to learn how to ride a bike in 2011.

I'm a happy kid living with my parents and our dog in Toronto. I'm goofy, sweet, smart, extremely chatty, and pretty much the cutest kid on the face of the Earth!
