Greenion Cookies

[As transcribed by Daddy on July 4th]

This morning I went grocery shopping with Nana and Mommy while Daddy recovered from last night's drive. After he woke up, he took us to Kohl's, where I found a nice large pair of men's pants to lie down and have a nap in. I fell asleep in the car while Daddy went to the record store, and woke up in one heck of a foul mood. Nana cheered me up temporarily with endless presents and toys - but when they stopped coming, I got upset again. "See what other presents Nana has in her room?" I inquired, only to get turned down.

Daddy made it up to me by taking me to the book store. I had a blast, running up and down the aisles, pulling all the books off the shelves, and playing with toys. Daddy didn't get a chance to look for books for himself, but didn't mind - I was so much fun! We also went to the dollar store and the supermarket, where I smiled and waved at all the pretty young girls (and old men), who thought Daddy and I were adorable. I sure am one heck of a 'babe magnet' (and an 'old man magnet', too).

Here's the recipe for 'Greenion Cookies,' which I invented with my new toy cooking set:

Greenion Cookies

Ingredients:
Sugar
Water
Strawberries
Flour
Eggs
Chocolate
Green Onions
Butter
Boogers

1. Put all ingredients (equal amounts) into a bowl with a measuring spoon.
2. Mix all ingredients with a blender for approximately one second.
3. Pour blended mix back into a mixing bowl - mix at high-speed for five seconds.
4. Pour dough onto the floor, flatten with a rolling pin.
5. Cut out cookie-shapes with cookie cutters.
6. Eat before cooking.
7. Repeat several times.

Drove All Night

[As transcribed by Daddy on July 4th]

Mommy was pretty out of it for most of the day. She got ready to drive all the way to Nana's house by putting our clothes into suitcases, and I got ready by unpacking them all as fast as possible. I was distracted from that when we wrapped Gammy's birthday present - we got her some DVDs and I made her a nice card. Finally, after Daddy came home from work, I got to meet our new next-door neighbours (what happened to Richard and Lucie?). They were really nice, plus they have a pet snake, which I was kinda afraid of.

Anyway, we headed off for New Hampshire a little later than we planned... we weren't clear of the city until around 7:00 pm. I dozed a bit, but was wide awake when we crossed the border and didn't really fall asleep until we passed Syracuse. Mommy and Daddy managed to stay awake the whole time, but at around 3:00 in the morning Daddy finally had enough of driving and passed the reins over to Mommy. We got to Nana and Jim's place just after four in the morning. We all went to bed pretty quickly. Phew!

A Five-Ponytail Day

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I woke up ready and willing to play! Daddy had to chase me around the apartment a few times before I'd let him go to work. Mommy and I had a fairly quiet day together - we hung out, played outside, read books... you know, the usual.

At one point Mommy was able to get something like five ponytails in my hair, and by the time Daddy got home from work, all but one were gone (somehow a bunch of Mr. Potato Head accessories were knotted up in my hair instead). The mysterious spider-bites from last year are back, and while they don't seem to be bothering me, they sure look pretty fierce.

All that and a bag of chips

[As transcribed by Daddy]

More and more strawberries! Mommy and I made strawberry jam, strawberry spread, strawberry filling... and we both ate more and more of them, not to mention the rest of the seven-layer dip and a bag of chips. Well, actually, Basil ate the bag of chips, but I left it out for him.

Early this morning Mommy inflated a nice big purple inflatable swimming pool outside. I loved playing in it, but didn't want to do more than stand in it... the water was pretty cold, despite the zillion degree heat. I thanked her my constantly snuggling her neck, sweetly chanting "Mommy, Mommy, Mommy!" I also discovered that when covered, my crab-sandbox makes a nice bed.

I still play a mean game of "Eye Spy Little My Eye."

Self-Administered Time-Outs

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy was still feeling a little under the weather today, so we just took 'er easy today, laying around and reading a lot of books. We had a nice picnic with Gammy for lunch, and later on I played in my crab sandbox. Of course, I ate an obscene amount of strawberries after yesterday's big haul.

I had to have a Time-Out before my nap, because I was acting up. In fact, I've been self administering Time-Outs for the last few days - I freak out, scream "Clover go have a time out!", run into my room, and slam the door.

After Daddy came home from work, he took Mommy and I out to the mall so he could buy a replacement cell phone, and then we did a lot of grocery shopping. I almost single-handedly ate an entire package of seven-layer dip while watching a scary program with my folks.

Leslie / Larry / Lady / Noodle

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Daddy's friend Leslie came over for brunch this morning. At first I could say her name properly, but over the course of the rest of the day I alternated between that and 'Larry', 'Lady', possibly 'Lily', and even 'Noodle' for some reason. She was sweet and didn't seem to mind much.

After some video games, Mommy and Daddy and Larry and I loaded up into the car and drove out a long ways to do some strawberry picking. I didn't fall asleep, which made the car ride a bit stressful for all. Once we arrived at the farm, though, we all had a real blast, and filled basket after basket of big, juicy strawberries (most ended up in my tummy). I even got to play in a big playground! Daddy also managed to lose his new cellphone in the process. What a nimrod.

After we all got home (I finally fell asleep in the car) we went out for Japanese food, and then had a nice quiet visit together at home. What a fun day!

Hopping on One Foot

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy's got a pretty bad head cold today. She took some medicine and spaced out on the couch watching a pretty bad movie while Daddy cleaned up, did the dishes, and moved some furniture around. After some lunch, we went for a drive - we stopped and got me an ice cream cone, which I absolutely loved.

Of course, the ice cream cone meant I didn't nap until about 20 minutes prior to getting home. I ran around the front yard with Gammy and Grandpa to help wake myself up. Gammy tried to teach me how to hop on one leg, which produced comical results.

Daddy headed out to meet with some old high school friends, so Mommy and I had dinner alone - I got to eat all of Dad's 'York-er Pudding.' Delicious! Right before bed, I took out every last one of my toys... and played with a shoe.

Giving Mommy a Headache

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Said bye-bye to Fern and the Nixons this morning. Mommy and I went to Home Depot to pick up some odds and ends. I suppose we had a pretty good time - we were pretty tired when we got back, though. We ate lunch, did the usual, and then I became really difficult when it came time to have my nap. I really really really didn't want to go to sleep - I made such a fuss that Mommy had to come in and nap with me. I sobbed and whined right in her ear until we both passed out, which did me a world of good, but only gave Mommy a headache.

We woke up just when Daddy was getting in from work. He drove us to a semi-decent little restaraunt for dinner - I was pretty wired and full of beans after the lengthy and late nap. We went for a little drive after dinner, did some tidying of the apartment, and then Daddy's friend Nick came over to play video games.

I always miss out on video games.

Nee-Nee's Birthday Octopus

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I woke up with a fever and chronic bad mood. Mommy and I made some more cupcakes for Nee-Nee's birthday, then headed out for the zoo with Gammy, Grandpa, Nee-Nee, Aunt Wendy, Aunt Roger, Bruce, and Fern (phew) for Nee-Nee's birthday. We spent ages and ages there, and we all got pretty tuckered out, but not before running all over the place and checking out a whole bunch of our favourite animals. The octopus was especially lively - must've been the occasion of Nee-Nee's birthday.

After a full day of zoo-riffic fun, we headed home and joined Daddy and Basil for a big Thai dinner with everyone. I didn't get much rest during the day, though, so I was kinda wired, whiny, and grumpy. Mommy joined me in bed, as we were both incredibly wiped out.

Roast Chicken Scientist

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I went for a really long walk to the bank this morning. We also picked up birthday cards for people, some groceries, and grabbed some lunch. I happily dissected a sandwich... maybe I'll grow up to be some sort of roast chicken scientist.

Back at home, I hung out with my new friend Fern, who read me my French books in French - thus helping me to finally understand them. For example, I've finally realized that 'poop' and 'caca' are the same thing!

Mommy and I made cupcakes together, but I got kicked out of the kitchen for trying to eat everything. After dinner, Daddy took Mommy and I for a nice walk in the beaches. I was pretty unhappy to leave the playground. I'm also teething, and have a fever.

Twenty-Three Months Old!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Daddy came in to wake me up this morning only to discover that I had removed my diaper and (happily) peed in my crib in preparation. Sucker! After that, I ate a ham sandwich for three hours.

Crazy weather outside - I enjoyed watching the rain, but hated the thunder and how the wind blew our recycling box around the side of the house, waking me from my nap.

Gammy and Aunt Wendy's friend Fern came over to visit them, so I visited them all as well, and made sure I was extra cute for everyone. I really spooked everyone with my uncanny ability to read the newspaper (except for the lower-case letters, which I can't identify).

Hanging out with Mommy today, we let Basil in from a quick jaunt outside and he tracked mud in all over the kitchen. This really bothered me - I demanded that Mommy clean up his dirty footprints. I got fed up with waiting for her to take care of it, so... I took matters into my own hands and did it myself. And... I did a pretty terrible job of it, too.

Daddy took me out for a treat after dinner. When he asked me what I wanted, I told him 'a hamster.' Ice cream sufficed.

New Playroom

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Now that Mommy and Daddy have their own bedroom, Mommy and I moved their bed out of my room, thus turning IT into a playroom for me. At first I wasn't really happy about the change - I really enjoyed having their big bed to jump on. But... Mommy brought in another little mattress, moved most of my toys in, and now I have to admit - it's pretty cool!

I played in the sandbox with Mommy again this afternoon - I really like to wreck sandcastles. After Daddy gor home from work, we visited with Gammy and Grandpa and the Nixons, and then had a nice Middle Eastern picnic out on the patio. I spilled lemonade all over the picnic blanket and played in it.

Father's Day Bedroom

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I got a bit confused about Father's Day today - I was convinced it was Daddy's birthday. I let him sleep in for an hour and then woke him with a barrage of 'happy birthday, Daddy!' until I got everything all sorted out. He liked the card I picked out for him!

After a visit with Gammy, Grandpa, and the Nixons, Mommy and Daddy and I went for dim sum for lunch. I couldn't stop hugging Mommy the whole time! It was very sweet. Daddy bought a video game and DVD with his Father's Day cash, we bought a huge carpet, came home, and I napped.

Daddy and Grandpa finished the crown moulding and quarter-round, but the nail gun they used made the new bedroom reek of propane. Mommy and Daddy then moved their bed out of my room and into theirs - and now, for the first time since I was born, they have their own bedroom. Happy Father's day!

New Sandbox!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

This morning Mommy and Daddy took me the the chiropractor's office, so that I could play with the exercise equipment while Babak fixed Daddy's back. Next up, we went to the butcher's, which was crazy full of people. We came home, had lunch, and when I woke up from my nap, the Nixons were here! Aunt Wendy is such a smart cookie!

Mommy and Daddy vanished for a while today, so I played with Nee-Nee and my grandparents. When my folks got back, they brought a brand new sandbox with them! It's huge, full of sand, shaped like a crab, and tons of fun! I stayed in there for something like two houra!

After dinner, Daddy and Grandpa did some mitering, Mommy did some painting, and I did some sleeping.

Going to Work

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I got to sleep in a little bit again this morning! Right on! Had a nice morning - I surprised Mommy while she was on the phone with Nana. I went into the bedroom, took off all of my clothes (including my diaper) and walked back in, surprising them with my nudity. Wee!

Once Daddy came home from work, I found his iPod and decided that I would listen to it and 'go to work', just like he does every morning. I put on a backpack (again, like Daddy) and got as far as the car before my parents stopped laughing and brought me back inside (apparently, I work at a toy store).

I threw a right fit before going to sleep, but a few lullabyes, poems, and a game of "I Spy Little My Eye" calmed me down.

I Spy Little My Eye

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Daddy was so quiet while leaving for work this morning that I didn't wake up - so as a nice treat, Mommy and I got to sleep in! After we woke, she did some sewing, while I did some random and rampant destruction.

I did lots of playing - in my parents' new bedroom, outside, in the grass, in the water, and even with Gammy. I learned to play a new game with Mommy - it's called "I Spy." I say "I Spy Little My Eye Something... umm... red!" and then point at the first red thing I see (I'm still figuring it out).

I gave Mommy the nickname "My Baby" while I snuggled with her today, which she thought was quite adorable. When Daddy came home from work, we celebrated the first paycheque from his new place of employment by going to the bookstore and by getting medicore pizza.

Useless Swim Diapers

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Yep... terrible night last night. Mommy finally fell asleep around four, due to my constantly waking up. We had extra-long snuggle and TV time in the morning as a result.

After Daddy went to work, Mommy and I went to the drug store to buy dishwasher pucks and really useless and crappy swim diapers. We got home, I played in my duck tub, had some lunch, and just collapsed at naptime. After Daddy came home, we went for a drive to get some groceries and take a DVD back to the store.

Daddy forgot to mention the four-year-old girl up the street that we met yesterday. She saw me coming, stopped my parents and I while we were walking, and proceeded to deliver an amazing ten-minute stream-of-consciousness monologue for us. Wacky.

Going Yeltway

[As transcribed by Daddy]

It was a hot one out there today! Mommy and I did some laying and stuff... no big deal. We took things kinda easy, so as to not melt or burn up.

Daddy came home from work, as usual, and I was so happy to see him I have him six hugs, which made his day! Mommy made a huge pitcher of lemonade ("wemon-made") and we all drank so much of it we really needed to walk it off. So for something like an hour, we hiked all over the neighbourhood. I'd play this goofy game where as soon as I could get free of holding Daddy's hand I'd run away, and he'd catch me. I know he didn't like it, but I sure thought it was funny. Whenever I'd find a direction I wanted to travel, I'd point and say "Go Yeltway!"

I'm not sleeping well AT ALL tonight. Maybe it's the heat, but I keep waking up and calling for Mommy. Neither of us will be very well-rested tomorrow.

Absorbing Branding

[As transcribed by Daddy]

As Daddy left for work this morning, I decided that he was going to Starbucks. So, I repeated 'Starbucks!' for hours this morning. Mommy and Gammy and I went to Ikea to shop for some furnishings, and passed by a Canadian Tire store. I saw the logo, recognized it as being the same logo on the other store where we were looking at crab-shaped sandboxes, and exclaimed "Crab Store! Crab Store!" It's pretty clear that I'm totally absorbing all of this corporate branding.

Mommy tried to wash some cutlery she bought me at Ikea, and when I watched it all vanish into the dishwasher, I threw a tantrum.

Daddy came home from work and took me for a walk... I got to partake of Mommy's ice cream cone. Yummy! It got me pretty wound up, though, and I had a tough time going to bed.

The Troglodyte

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Everyone is sore and hurting from all the renovations we've been doing (by "we" I mean everyone except the dog & I). Daddy was so groggy this morning that he poured a pot of coffee all over his french toast, thinking it was syrup... and didn't seem to notice the difference.

Mommy and Daddy and Gammy and Grandpa are a lot closer to finishing up the whole new bedroom - the floors are all done, but the sawdust and sawing noises really freaked me out. Mommy kept me entertained by setting up my duck-tub outside... I played in the water. Fun times! Nee-Nee and her friend Grace watched me play, which was nice.

After a picnic lunch and more work, we took a nice drive - I fell asleep pretty quickly. Once I woke up, we went to the bookstore, and some kid wouldn't share the toys with me in the kid's section. This made daddy pretty annoyed... he called the kid a 'troglodyte' and nobody (including the kid's parents) seemed to know what that meant.

Making friends with Mr. Potato Head

[As transcribed by Daddy]

This morning Mommy took me to the dentist, so that I could watch Daddy got his teeth cleaned. I found it pretty boring, so Mommy and I went to the library, where I tried to steal books from other little kids. Next up we went to the chiropractor - I love it there, because as usual I get to go into the exercise room and play with the equipment ("Bumpy Ball Room"). It was lots of fun.

We all went home and got to work at installing the flooring in Mommy & Daddy's new bedroom. At first it was really slow going and everyone involved (including Gammy and Grandpa) were starting to get frustrated, but we all figured out a few techniques that made the experience better and the process faster (and much, much better). After Grandpa's back started giving him troubles, he took a break and looked after me. I ran circles around him and wore him out even more!

He and I played with the Mr. Potato Head Daddy bought for me a lot today, which was nice, seeing as how up until a few days ago that thing terrified me.

Moustache Juice

[As transcribed by Daddy]

So early today I got to have a taste of Grandpa's spicy tomato and clam juice, which caused some concern - everyone thought I'd hate it. I loved it, though, and Grandpa pointed out it gave me a 'tomato-juice-moustache.' I asked to have more "moustache juice" all day.

Daddy called Mommy at one point today, and I picked up the phone and answered it un-prompted. I said 'hello' and then put the phone down and ran away.

It was hot and humid today - so Mommy dragged my old duck-shaped inflatable bathtub, filled it with water, dragged it outside, and let me play in it. It was lots of fun! I made a huge mess, but it was absolutely worth it. When the thunderstorms started, I got so scared I had to run straight to Basil. It was adorable!

While we all had Thai food for dinner with Gammy, Grandpa, and Nee-Nee, Mommy melted one of my sippy cups.

Emptying (and filling) my Crib

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Isn't my new cousin Skye cute?

Mommy and I went to Julie & Sarah's this morning, and while we were there, we also played with Laurie and Nathan (another parent-kid combo deal) and then did some shopping at Fabricland after a walk through the mall. We got some lunch, but then i started getting cranky, so we took the bus home.

My crankiness turned to happiness, and I wasn't able to get any sleep. Mommy tried to put me down for a nap, but I just stood in my crib and threw all of its contents onto the floor. Mommy checked on me, only to find that I had taken my diaper off and peed on the crib. Nice!

Daddy came home from work a bit early and took Mommy and I out for a trip to the butcher. We made monkey noises in the car while we waited for Mommy to buy groceries. It was kinda fun.

Cousin Skye

[As transcribed by Daddy]

For a nice treat, Mommy and I took the bus and the subway all the way across town to the zoo! We packed a lunch, walked and walked, put up with some bigger crowds than we're used to, and had a nice time. The new dinosaur exhibit is open, so we decided to check it out. On the way in, some other kid ran out screaming... this didn't faze me, though, as I was eager to check it out. In less than a minute, the large animatronic dinosaur came to life, wiggled its little arms, and growled. I freaked out and made Mommy get us the heck outta there.

I was happy to leave the zoo ("All done dinosaurs", I kept saying) - but was still pretty wound-up once we got home and had a late nap. I did a lot of zany buzzing around and playing in the late afternoon... when Daddy came home from work, he took me for a nice walk and a drive after our dinner. It made up for the scary dinosaurs.

I'm also thrilled to announce the early-morning birth of my new cousin Skye over in Montreal! Welcome to planet Earth, Skye! Can't wait to meet you.

Off to Antigua

[As transcribed by Daddy]

I woke up in a pretty great mood... ready to run and play and take on the world. Too bad the city's smack in the middle of a freak coldsnap. How weird is that? It's the middle of June, and we can all see our breath outside! I went to Gammy's place, shuffled around in the closet and found a large handbag with the word 'Antigua' on it, and informed Mommy that I was off to the beach. Everyone found it pretty funny.

The hilarity continued after I woke up from my nap. I must've been dreaming about energy drinks and Coffee with extra sugar or something, because I was insanely wound up. I kept running around, speaking in tongues, twirling, getting into everything, and making everyone laugh. I couldn't sit still!

Mommy and Daddy took me grocery shopping, but I tried to devour the contents of our shopping cart. Wacky!

Stain Remover Eyes

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and I took Basil to the vet this morning, and I made sure to introduce him ("Basil, good boy") to everyone within earshot. We had to sit in the waiting room for a long time, though, and I kept myself entertained by pouring water on myself.

When we got home, I decided to keep the theme going... since we spent a year's wages on Basil's checkup bill (it's seriously shocking), I poured [organic all-natural non-toxic] stain remover into my eyes. Mommy freaked out and washed them out, which made me pretty upset. Once her back was turned, I ran back into the kitchen and was about to empty a bag of dishwasher pucks on my head when Mommy stopped me. I didn't take it too well, considering that I was still angry about the whole eye-washing thing.

I got into everything in, was woken from my nap by "Grandpa talking man", and did a lot of worm hunting outside before Daddy came home. I continued the tradition of crying myself to sleep, too.

Coin-Operated

[As transcribed by Daddy]

After a lovely brunch, Mommy and Daddy took me to the mall. I did some underpants shopping with Mommy, and Daddy managed to pick me up some books! We headed home and all had ham and cheese sandwiches. While I napped, there was much house and yardwork done.

Once again, it was back into the car, this time so we could drive around and price sandboxes. I had one heck of a good time at the big toy store, playing with trikes, cars, slides, and all manner of other kids' stuff. Mommy let me have a ride in the little coin-operated car-ride thing - when it was time to leave, I threw quite the little fit.

At home I watched Daddy play tennis and had a ridiculously hard time not repeatedly waking up throughout the night.

Cell Phones!

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Mommy and Daddy and I were playing in the front yard when Gammy and Grandpa showed up to go to the library. They left the car door open... I snuck in, buckled myself into by baby seat, and went with them! Mommy and Daddy used the Clover-free opportunity to tidy.

After lunch, Grandpa and Daddy took an old air conditioner to Home Depot in exchange for a gift card while Mommy and I shopped for flowers. After my nap, I watched everyone plant flowers, mow the lawn, and prune the trees.

The big moment of the day (for Daddy, at least) came when he drove Mommy and I to the mall (where we sat and waited and waited for him), and now, for the first time in their lives, my parents actually own cell phones. While Daddy figured his out, Mommy yanked tiny pieces of paper from my nasal passage.

Nasal Insertion #2

[As transcribed by Daddy]

Today, while Mommy went to the dentist, Gammy and I hung out at the mall. She took me to the library - there were so many books I couldn't believe it! I made strangers laugh when I grabbed some, ran off to a corner and said "Read to Self!" I also got a new toothbrush out of the deal.

Next up Grandpa drove Mommy and I to the chiropractor. While he fixed her shoulders, Grandpa and I hung out in the weight room, and I got to play with the coloured and textured weight balls ("bumpy balls"!).

After my nap, Mommy realized that the last few days of sniffles I've been experiencing have been due to a rolled up piece of paper shoved up my nose. I blamed everyone from Basil to Flat Eric - but we all know who the real culprit is. Mommy got a large piece out, but there's still a big chunk pretty deep inside.

Daddy walked home from work (!) and took us out for Thai food. We ate it out on the deck, which was a nice way to butter me up before trying to wrestle more paper out of my nose.

Where Daddy At?

[As transcribed by Daddy]

This morning I was woken by an old, yet familiar sound... Daddy getting up early to go to work. And just like that, he was gone for most of the day! My folks were worried that I'd be confused and sad about it, but aside from the odd 'Where Daddy At?' question for Mommy, I didn't seem to adversely affected. Although I did pull off a sidewalk faceplant...

Mommy and I went to Julie & Sarah's this morning, and I got to play with a bunch of other kids in the water. There was much splashing and mirth to be had all 'round. Mommy had a nap with me in the afternoon, and we waited for Daddy to come home from work. After dinner, I fought going to sleep again - I screamed and screamed for my Mommy. I guess that's how it goes.

I'm a happy kid living with my parents and our dog in Toronto. I'm goofy, sweet, smart, extremely chatty, and pretty much the cutest kid on the face of the Earth!
